BP's behemoth Argos offshore oil platform, the centerpiece of the company's $9 billion Mad Dog 2 project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, has arrived in the U.S. after a 16,000-mile journey from South Korea.The platform, loaded onboard Boskalis' BOKA Vanguard heavy transport vessel, had left South Korea on February 3, and it has this week arrived in the Kiewit Offshore Services fabrication yard in Ingleside, Texas."The arrival of the new floating production unit is a major milestone towards the completion of Mad Dog 2.

Oil major BP has informed that its Argos oil platform, built by Samsung Heavy Industry, has set sail from South Korea and is en route to Texas.The platform, which will be capable of producing up to 140,000 gross barrels of crude oil per day from up to 14 production wells, will be deployed in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico as part of the Mad Dog 2 development.As previously reported, the Argos platform weighing almost 70,000 tons was in January loaded on Boskalis' semi-submersible heavy transport vessel BOKA Vanguard preparation for the sailaway.Announcing the sailaway…

BP's giant Argos offshore platform, to be used for the Mad Dog 2 development in the Gulf of Mexico, was this week loaded on Boskalis' BOKA Vanguard vessel in South Korea and is preparing set sail for the U.S.According to Boskalis, the Dutch marine services contractor, the giant Argos floating production unit weighing nearly 70,000 tons was floated onto Boskalis' semi-submersible heavy transport vessel BOKA Vanguard on Tuesday."The vessel was submerged well over 29 meters to make this happen.

Transocean: $830M Drilling Contract for Ultra Deepwater Drillship

While the late 2018 oil price swoon has put a damper on an otherwise positive year for offshore energy markets, Transocean Ltd. Total, Chevron Team up in Gulf of Mexico Oil Exploration

Total announced that its subsidiary, TOTAL E&P USA, INC., has entered into an agreement to capture seven prospects operated by CHEVRON U.S.A. INC. in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The agreement covers 16 blocks. The associated prospects are located in two promising plays and areas of the GoM: Wilcox in Central GoM next to the Anchor discovery, and Norphlet in Eastern GoM nearby to the Appomattox discovery. BHP Billiton Okay $2.2 bln Investments in Gulf of Mexico

BHP Billiton has announced that the Board has approved expenditure of US$2.2 billion for its share of the development of the Mad Dog Phase 2 project in the Gulf of Mexico. BHP Billiton holds a 23.9 per cent participating interest in the Mad Dog field. BP, the operator, holds a 60.5 per cent participating interest, and Union Oil Company of California, an affiliate of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., holds the remaining 15.6 per cent participating interest. During the fourth quarter of 2016, BP sanctioned the Mad Dog Phase 2 project. Mad Dog Phase 2, located in the Green Canyon area in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, is a southern and southwestern extension of the existing Mad Dog field.

Chevron, China Huadian Sign LNG Supply Deal

Chevron Corporation's wholly-owned subsidiary, Chevron U.S.A. Inc., has today signed a non-binding liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply Heads of Agreement (HOA) with China Huadian Green Energy Co., Ltd. When the agreement is finalized, China Huadian Green Energy is expected to receive up to 1 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG over 10 years starting in 2020. Chevron Makes Oil Discovery in Deepwater US Gulf

Chevron Corporation announced an oil discovery at the Anchor prospect in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Anchor is Chevron’s second discovery in the deepwater Gulf in less than a year. “The Anchor discovery, along with the previously announced Guadalupe discovery, are significant finds for us in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. We had one of our best years with the drill bit in 2014, reporting more than 30 discoveries worldwide and adding an estimated one billion barrels of new resources to our holdings,” said Jay Johnson, senior vice president, Upstream, Chevron Corporation.

Chevron Starts Oil Production in Gulf of Mexico

Chevron Corporation announced today that the Hess Corporation-operated Tubular Bells deepwater project, located in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, has started crude oil and natural gas production. The field is located 135 miles (217 km) southeast of New Orleans, in approximately 4,300 feet (1,310 m) of water in the Mississippi Canyon area. The discovery well was drilled in 2003, and project construction began in October 2011. Tubular Bells is expected to deliver total production of approximately 50,000 barrels of oil-equivalent per day producing from three wells. Chevron Introduces New Line: Clarity Synthetic EA Oils

Chevron Products Company, a Chevron U.S.A. Inc. division, unveiled a new line of Clarity Synthetic EA Hydraulic and Gear Oils for the marine industry and other applications where leaks or accidental discharge are a concern. These products meet the new EPA Vessel General Permit (VGP) requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants (EALs). Clarity Synthetic EA Hydraulic and Gear Oils are designed to give maximum protection and provide seal compatibility in hydraulic equipment and industrial gear applications on vessels and equipment where performance is critical. Transocean inform that the total value of new contracts since the September 18, 2013 Fleet Update Summary is approximately US$2.0-billion. The company has been awarded a five-year drilling contract for a newbuild dynamically positioned ultra-deepwater drillship by Chevron U.S.A. Inc. Shipyard delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016. After customer acceptance, the contract is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2016 at a dayrate of $599,000, contributing an estimated revenue backlog of approximately $1.1 billion, excluding mobilization.

Transocean Future Newbuild Drillship Chartered Out

Transocean Ltd. has been awarded a five-year contract by Chevron U.S.A. Inc. for a newbuild dynamically positioned ultra-deepwater drillship. Shipyard delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016. After customer acceptance, the contract is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2016, contributing an estimated revenue backlog of approximately $1.1 billion, excluding mobilization. Excluding capitalized interest, the capital investment for the newbuild drillship is an estimated $725 million.

Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale Yields $133.8 Million in High Bids on Over 652,520 Acres, Only Latest in a Series of Recent Major Offshore Oil and Gas Sales. As part of President Obama’s all-of-the-above energy strategy to continue to expand safe and responsible domestic energy production, the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management today held Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 229, which offered over 20 millions acres and attracted $133,767,074 in high bids for 116 tracts covering 652,522 acres on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) offshore Texas. A total of 13 offshore energy companies submitted 131 bids.

First Oil Drawn From Caesar Tonga Field in Gulf of Mexico

Statoil’s operations in North America got another boost when operator Anadarko Petroleum and co-owners Shell and Chevron today announced the beginning of first oil production from the Caesar Tonga deep-water project in the Gulf of Mexico. Caesar Tonga, in which Statoil Gulf of Mexico LLC has a 23.55 percent  working interest, began flowing high-quality oil on March 7. Production from the project’s first three wells is expected to ramp up to approximately 45,000 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day.

Chevron Selects BMT for Jack & St. Malo EFMS

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. awarded a contract to BMT Scientific Marine Services Inc (BMT) to provide an Environmental and Facilities Monitoring System (EFMS) for the Jack & St. Malo Floating Production Semi-Submersible (FPSS) in the Gulf of Mexico. The EFMS monitors, logs, and displays data in real-time on the local environment and facility motions. It archives the data for assessing the FPSS’ integrity over time and interfaces with the facility’s other platform control systems. McDermott Wins Jack and St. Malo Subsea Project

HOUSTON, Apr 25, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- McDermott International, Inc. BOEMRE Approves Fifth Deepwater Drilling Permit

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) approved a fifth deepwater drilling permit on March 24 that complies with rigorous new safety standards implemented in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon explosion and resulting oil spill. This includes satisfying the requirement to demonstrate the capacity to contain a subsea blowout. The approved permit is a revised permit to drill a new well for Chevron USA Inc.’s Well #1 in Keathley Canyon Block 736 in 6,750 ft. water depth, approximately 216 miles off the Louisiana coastline, south of Lafayette, La. Subsea 7 Wins Chevron GOM Contract

Subsea 7 S.A., a global leader in seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services, announced the award of an engineering and installation contract by Chevron U.S.A. Inc. for Tahiti Phase 2 development in the Gulf of Mexico. The Subsea 7 workscope is to install one 7.5” x 13,000ft long flexible riser, one 4” x 4,500ft long umbilical, five rigid well jumpers, 10 electrical flying leads (EFL) and seven steel flying leads (SFL). Subsea 7 will also transport the flexible riser from Le Trait, France to the Gulf of Mexico. The engineering work will commence immediately at Subsea 7’s Houston office. The installation of the flexible and umbilical will take place Q3, 2011 with the five well tie-ins occurring through to mid 2012.

Dockwise $30M in Heavy Marine Transport Contracts

Dockwise has signed a contract for $25m, with an affiliate of Chevron U.S.A. Inc. regarding the transportation of the Jack & St. Malo hull from Korea to the Gulf of Mexico. It is the intention of the parties that this contract - already included in the Q3 backlog as a Letter of Intent (LOI) - will be executed on the new T-0 vessel. Another LOI published earlier this year, for the transportation of the topside for ATP's Cheviot from the fabrication yard in China to Europe and the associated float-over, was also converted into a firm contract with Bluewater Industries for a total contract value of approximately $40m. The transportation of the hull for ATP Cheviot was already awarded to Dockwise by Bluewater Industries as a separate contract in an earlier stage. In addition Dockwise Ltd.

BOEMRE on Resuming Pre-Approved Activities

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) notified 13 companies whose deepwater drilling activities were suspended by last year’s deepwater drilling moratorium that they may be able to resume those previously-approved activities without the need to submit revised exploration or development plans for supplemental National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews. Before resuming those activities without additional NEPA review, however, the companies must comply with BOEMRE’s new policies and regulations. “Going forward, we are substantially enhancing our environmental reviews and analysis under NEPA,” said BOEMRE Director Michael R. Bromwich.
