Schottel Appoints Kaul CEO

Schottel appointed Stefan Kaul as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & President Industrial Operations. The appointment follows the departure of Dr Christian Strahberger who has decided to leave the company after holding the top spot for about two years. Kaul joined the company in 1989 and has held several key positions in research and hydrodynamics. Schottel Gets Eight Ferry Newbuild Order for EcoPeller

Schottel has been selected to fit eight newly-built ferries with the new Schottel Rudder EcoPeller (SRE, EcoPeller) for two of Norway’s leading ferry lines. In close cooperation with the customers and Multi Maritime, the Norwegian ship designer in charge of the projects, the EcoPeller was chosen for three Fjord1 ferries with 2xSRE 340 CP each and five Torghatten ferries with 5x2 SRE 560 CP. “Our new ferry designs are the result of continuous efficiency optimization. Every potential efficiency increase and every optimization of the energy consumption in terms of design, components and equipment has been exploited. The EcoPeller was chosen because we expect that it fully supports our targets,” said Gjermund Johannessen, CEO at Multi Maritime.

Aucoin Joins Schottel as U.S. GM

Gary Aucoin has joined Schottel Inc. in Houma, La., as the new General Manager. Aucoin is a dedicated sales expert taking over leadership of the growing U.S. subsidiary. Most recently, from 2010, he held the role of account manager at Wärtsilä with responsibility for both new business development and after sales service in the offshore market. These are already strong areas with further growth potential for Schottel in North America. Aucoin holds a master degree in business administration and 15-years of experience in the North American maritime sector.

New Head of Marine Business at Voith Turbo

Dr. Christian Strahberger (40) will take over the responsibility for the Business Division Marine of Voith Turbo. After studying physics in Regensburg, Colorado (USA) and Munich, Strahberger obtained a doctorate at the Walter Schottky Institute of TU Munich in 2001. Prior to joining Voith AG he worked for seven years at Siemens Management Consulting (Siemens AG) in Munich as a Consultant and Project Manager of international industrial projects of Siemens AG. His activities focused mainly on sales optimization and restructuring.
