Maersk Names Jany CFO

Moller - Maersk has appointed Patrick Jany as its new chief financial officer, effective May 1, 2020.Jany, a German citizen, joins the world's largest shipping company as CFO and a member of the executive board after more than two decades with Swiss chemicals company Clariant, where he's been CFO since 2006. BIOFUELS: Clariant, ExxonMobil, REG Partners on Research

Clariant  signed a joint research agreement with ExxonMobil and Renewable Energy Group (REG) to evaluate the potential use of cellulosic sugars from sources such as agricultural waste and residues to produce biofuel, which has the potential to play a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.The new partnership expands a previously announced agreement[1] for joint research between ExxonMobil and REG, in which the companies successfully validated the ability of REG Life Sciences…

Container Dri II Earns EcoTain Designation

Specialty chemicals company Clariant announced that its cargo desiccant Container Dri II, was awarded EcoTain status for its best-in-class sustainability and performance excellence of its cargo protection solution. In the U.S., Container Dri desiccants are manufactured in Belen, N.M. To achieve EcoTain status, Container Dri II was subjected to an assessment that measured 36 criteria in three sustainability dimensions - social, environmental and economic. The container desiccant was shown to deliver a positive benefit in all areas.

Clariant & Siemens To Promote New Sour Gas Shift Technology

Siemens Energy and Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, signed an agreement to cooperate in the commercialization of a new, jointly developed sour gas shift (SGS) technology for coal gasification. The agreement appoints Clariant as the exclusive catalyst supplier for all projects where Siemens offers sour gas shift ("SGS") systems. While the collaboration covers all global projects, commercialization will focus on China – the region with the highest growth rate of coal-to-chemical projects. Stefan Heuser, Head of the Catalysts Business Unit at Clariant, stated: "This global cooperation is a very important step in marketing our innovative catalysts for coal-to-chemical applications.
