DP World Buys North American Terminal

Dubai-based port operator DP World announced it has completed the acquisition of Fraser Surrey Docks in Canada from Macquarie Infrastructure Partners (MIP) alongside its partner Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ).The enabler of global trade said in a press release that said the acquisition complements its footprint in Canada, which also includes terminal operations in Vancouver, Nanaimo, Prince Rupert and St John’s, without disclosing the value of the purchase.The integrated coast-to-coast platform provides customers with bulk, breakbulk and general cargo services.DP World's global strategy is to become a trade enabler and solutions provider as the company looks to participate across a wider part of the supply chain.

APM's Moín Container Terminal Reaches 1MTEUs

APM Terminals, an international container terminal operating company, said that its Moín Container Terminal celebrated the movements of its 1 millionth TEU on 11 December 2019.This milestone, achieved in less than 10 months of operation, is particularly significant, as the next phase of the terminal will be built when an annual volume of 1.5 million TEUs is reached, said a press note. New Cruise Terminal for Brisbane

A new international cruise terminal will be operating in Brisbane within two years after Port of Brisbane and Carnival Australia announced they had reached a commercial agreement. The Brisbane International Cruise Terminal (BICT) at Luggage Point will be operating by mid-2020 and is expected to generate almost $5 billion in economic value for the Queensland economy alone within 15 years. The amended commercial agreement between Australia’s Port of the Year, Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) and Australia’s leading cruise organisation, Carnival Australia, follows the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) conditional approval of the project last month.

Another Tug Launched for Suderman & Young

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. said it launched on August 15, 2016 the final vessel in a series of four Z-Tech Class Terminal & Escort Tugs being constructed for Suderman & Young Towing Company. The tug Poseidon is scheduled to be delivered later in 2016. The launch ceremony was held at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Patrick D’Isernia, Project Manager of Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance. He spoke about the dedication and hard work of all of ESG’s employees, making the series of tugs a success.

Eastern Delivers Escort Tug to Suderman & Young

On July 29, 2016, Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. delivered Oceanus (Hull# 240), the third in series of four identical Robert Allan, LTD. Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has launched Laura B, the final vessel in a series of four Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class terminal and escort tugs built for Bay-Houston Towing Co. The Laura B is scheduled to deliver in 2016. The launch ceremony was on July 1, 2016 at the builder’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Patrick D’Isernia, Project Manager at Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance. Eastern Delivers for Bay-Houston Towing

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has delivered the escort tug David B for Bay-Houston Towing Co. on June 15, 2016. David B (ESG Hull #239) is the third in a series of four Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class terminal and escort tugs currently under construction at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility for Bay-Houston Towing Co. The lead vessel in the series, H. Douglas M (ESG Hull #236), was delivered on February 5, 2016. Eastern is also constructing another identical series of four tugs for Suderman & Young Towing Company.

Kiel’s Forest Products Center Launched

Kiel’s new forest products handling and distribution centre has gone into operation in the Ostuferhafen. This means that the port has now become an integral part of the logistics chain operated by the Swedish concerns Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) and Iggesund Paperboard. Dr Dirk Claus, Managing Director of the Port of Kiel (SEEHAFEN KIEL GmbH & Co. KG) said: “We have created a terminal in the Ostuferhafen which is tailor-made to the requirements of our customers. In addition to that, Kiel’s geographical location fits very well into the SCA liner network”. SCA cargo ships from Sundsvall have been calling at the Ostuferhafen once a week since the beginning of the month, offloading 6,000 tons of forest products with each visit.

The ZYANA K (ESG Hull #238) is the second in a series of four Z-Tech Class Terminal & Escort Tugs being constructed for Bay-Houston Towing Co. The H. DOUGLAS M (ESG Hull #236), the lead vessel in the series, delivered on February 5, 2016.

Tug Launched for Suderman & Young at Eastern

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. launched the Escort Tug OCEANUS for Suderman & Young Towing Company on April 26, 2016. This series of Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs is currently under construction at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility. The vessel is scheduled for delivery later in July 2016. The launch ceremony was held at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Joey D’Isernia, President of Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance. He spoke about the dedication and hard work of all of ESG’s employees, making the series of tugs a success. Father Roy Marien of St. John’s Catholic Church of Panama City blessed the vessel and Eastern’s own, accounting assistant Carol McMillin, had the honor of christening the vessel.

Melbourne RoRo Terminal Opens

Melbourne International RoRo & Automotive Terminal (MIRRAT) will officially open at Webb Dock West in Melbourne on the 10th April, 2016. MIRRAT is dedicated to providing best in class terminal services to the Automotive and RoRo markets in Melbourne by providing efficient, innovative and sustainable solutions to our customers. As part of Port of Melbourne Corporation’s port capacity project, MIRRAT was awarded the rights to design, construct and operate the new RoRo & Automotive Terminal at Webb Dock West. This was a unique opportunity to build a world-class purpose built facility to support the shipping industry and all users of the terminal.

Eastern Shipbuilding Launches the Zyana K

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has launched the Escort Tug ZYANA K (Hull 238) for Bay-Houston Towing Co. on February 19, 2016. A series of four Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs is currently under construction at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility. The ZYANA K is scheduled to deliver in 2016. The launch ceremony was held at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Patrick D’Isernia, Project Manager at Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance. Patrick praised the Eastern employees for all their hard work and G&H Towing for their commitment to the project. (RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs is currently under construction at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility. The H. DOUGLAS M (ESG Hull #236) is the first in a series of four (4) Z-Tech Class Terminal & Escort Tugs being constructed for Bay-Houston Towing Company. Eastern is also constructing another identical series of four (4) tugs for Suderman & Young Towing Company. G&H Towing Company is the Owners’ onsite Representative and Agent during the engineering, construction and delivery for both Bay-Houston and Suderman & Young. G&H Towing Company will operate the vessels after delivery.

(RAL) designed Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs is currently under construction at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility. The vessel is scheduled to deliver in the second quarter of this year. The launch ceremony was held at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility and hosted by Joey D’Isernia, President of Eastern, with employees and guests in attendance. Mike Nigro, V.P. of G&H Towing shared a few words about the quality work and commitment of the companies involved, Mike’s wife Lisa and Father Roy Marien of St. John’s Catholic Church of Panama City blessed the vessel.

TRITON (Hull #235) is the first of a series four (4) Z-Tech Class Terminal & Escort Tugs being constructed for Suderman & Young Towing Company. Eastern is also building another identical series of four (4) tugs for Bay-Houston Towing Company.

Port of Kiel: Cruise Shipping Sets Passenger Record

Press release- This year’s cruise shipping season in Kiel was ending on Tuesday October 20th with a visit by the “AIDAcara”. Overall the port registered 133 calls this year by 25 different ships with a total tonnage of more than 8.6 million GT (an increase of 19.4% over last year). The port’s cruise terminals saw 458,771 passengers (29.6% more than in 2014) board or leave a cruise ship. Dr Dirk Claus, Managing Director of the PORT OF KIEL (Seehafen Kiel GmbH & Co. KG) said: “Both passenger figures and overall tonnage totals have set new records for Kiel”.

ESG to Build Four RA Tugboats

Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG) said that Suderman & Young Towing Company & Bay Houston Towing Company have placed orders for a total of four new Robert Allan, LTD. (RAL) Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs at Eastern’s Panama City, Florida facilities. ESG added that G & H Towing Company will provide the onsite representation for both owners as their agent during the engineering, construction and delivery phases of these contracts. APM Terminals Acquires Reefer Terminal S.p.A.

APM Terminals and GF Group are pleased to announce the acquisition of 100% of Reefer Terminal S.p.A. by APM Terminals has been completed today. Terms and price were not disclosed. Reefer Terminal, the largest refrigerated terminal in the Mediterranean for more than thirty years handling 600,000 pallets per year, is also a world-class terminal for the handling of containers (275,000 TEU, 510 reefer plugs, 14.5 meter depth and 465 meter of quay) and general cargo. APM Terminals has acquired the Vado Ligure Reefer Terminal as part of the port master plan to create new supply chains to markets in Northern Italy, Southern France, Switzerland and Bavaria.

U.S. Shipbuilding: ESG Nabs Two Z-Drive Tug Contracts

Eastern Shipbuilding (ESG) said that Suderman & Young Towing Company and Bay Houston Towing Company each exercised one additional Z-Drive Tug to be built at ESG. This brings the total to six of the new Robert Allan, Ltd. Z-Tech 2400 Class Terminal & Escort Tugs built at ESG's Panama City, FL facilities. G&H will provide the onsite representation for both owners as the owner's agent during the construction and delivery phases of the contracts. At delivery, G&H Towing will operate each vessels, as in the past. Length 80 ft. Breadth 38.25 ft. Depth: 15.75 ft.

Foundation Stone for Adani Ennore Container Terminal laid

Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd, India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, today announced that Minister for Transport and Rural Development, Mr. Foundation Stone for Adani Ennore Container Terminal laidor its container terminal at Ennore port. The terminal, which will be constructed in two phases, is expected to be commissioned in March 2016. On completion, it will be a 730 meter terminal, with 31.5 hectares of back area, and capable of handling 1.4 million TEUs annually. It will be South India’s first e-terminal and all-electric facility, offering paper-less operations and direct linkage with CFS and lines through Web Access and Automatic Gates, allowing seamless transit from CFS to the container yard.
