FPSO leasing firm BW Offshore has secured a one-year contract extension for the lease and operation of the FPSO Espoir Ivoirien. The firm period has been extended until the end of Q1 2023.The FPSO is operating on the Espoir field offshore the Ivory Coast for CNR International (Cote D'Ivoire) SARL. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.The vessel's firm contract with CNR had been scheduled to expire in 2022, and BW Offshore and CNRI had signed a short-term extension for Espoir Ivoirien from April 4 to May 15, 2022 time to finalize terms for a further contract extension.

Two people died Thursday in an incident aboard BW Offshore's FPSO Espoir Ivoirien, offshore the Ivory Coast, the FPSO owner has informed."At 13:30 local time today, an incident occurred whilst work was being performed in a cargo tank onboard the FPSO Espoir Ivoirien operating on the Espoir field offshore the Ivory Coast. Two fatalities have been confirmed as a consequence of the incident, which was caused by a leakage of hydrocarbons into the tank where the work was being performed," BW Offshore said."Next of kin have been informed.

S.Africa wants 30 wells drilled in next 10 years; Total woes a setback to S.Africa exploration drive. French energy major Total has halted oil exploration off the southern coast of Africa due to mechanical problems with a rig, meaning it will not be able to resume searching in the area before 2016, a company official said on Tuesday. The news is a huge setback to South Africa's plans to have 30 exploration wells drilled in the next 10 years as the continent's most advanced economy strives to reduce its heavy reliance on imported oil. "Offshore repair was not possible," Guy Maurice, the company's senior vice-president for exploration and production in Africa, told delegates at an Africa oil and gas conference organised by Global Pacific & Partners.

Subsea 7 S.A. has been awarded a contract in the Ivory Coast by CNR International (Côte d’Ivoire) SARL (CNR International) in support of its Baobab Field Phase III development. The scope of work covers the installation of spools and umbilicals. The effective date of the contract is 25 September 2014, with the main offshore installation phase expected to be executed by the Subsea 7 vessel the Seven Pacific in the second quarter of 2015. Onshore project management and engineering will be carried out from the Company’s Paris office. Decom North Sea (DNS), the offshore oil and gas decommissioning forum, is hosting a “lunch and learn” event to give supply chain companies the opportunity to present their offshore decommissioning capabilities and encourage knowledge share among members. Subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) group Harkand says it is to position a second dive support vessel in the burgeoning North Sea sector after securing a major contract with CNR International (CNRI). KCA Deutag has won significant subsea drilling operation & maintenance contracts from core clients Total E&P UK, EnQuest & CNR International (CNRI). The company was awarded a contract with Total E&P UK to provide drilling operations and maintenance services on the Alwyn North and Dunbar platforms. Both contracts have already commenced and have a firm two year commitment with options for an extension of up to two years. Secondly, EnQuest has also signed a significant contract with KCA Deutag for a four year extension of its drilling operations and maintenance contract for both the Heather and Thistle platforms. Lastly, a substantial contract extension was awarded by CNRI.

FMC Technologies, Inc.wins order from CNR International Ltd. for subsea equipment for the Baobab field, offshore Ivory Coast. The Baobab field is located in Block CI-40 West Africa approximately 16 miles (25 kilometers) offshore from the Ivory Coast. FMC Technologies' scope of supply includes six subsea trees , eight wellheads , three manifolds , and a Subsea Control System including subsea distribution systems and associated topside control systems . The equipment is scheduled for delivery in 2014. Decom North Sea (DNS), the offshore oil & gas decommissioning forum, held its annual general meeting last night in St Andrews, with 10 new directors elected from across all sectors of the decommissioning industry. The meeting heard that the supply chain body now has 213 fee paying members. Attendees were also given an overview of Decom North Sea activity over the past year and an update on progress against the various strategic objectives. Brian Nixon, Decom North Sea’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have elected a board of experienced directors to Decom North Sea. Cosalt Offshore has been awarded a contract with CNR International (UK) Limited. (CNR). The contract, which is for three years,comes with a two one year options and will see Cosalt Offshore provide CNR with lifting and mechanical handling support services on five  platforms – Tiffany, Ninian North, Central and South and Murchison. The National Subsea Research Institute (NSRI) has achieved its initial target to recruit 20 companies to join in developing a vision for the long-term future of the subsea industry.
