Diana Shipping Announces Continuation of Time Charter for Amphitrite

Diana Shipping, a global shipping company specializing in the ownership and bareboat charter-in of dry bulk vessels, has announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has extended the time charter contract with Cobelfret S.A., Luxembourg, for one of its Post-Panamax dry bulk vessels, the Amphitrite.The gross charter rate is $12,250 per day for the first 30 days of the charter period and $15,000 per day for the balance period of the time charter, in each case minus a 5% commission paid to third parties…

MacGregor to Equip Cobelfret CLdN RoRo Pair

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been selected to supply RoRo equipment for two 8000 LM RoRo vessels built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) in South Korea for Cobelfret CLdN, Luxembourg.The order, booked into Cargotec’s first quarter 2023 orders received, consists of design and complete hardware including stern ramps, ramp covers and hoistable car decks, access ramps, and rampway doors. Diana Shipping Announces New Time Charters

Dry bulk shipowner Diana Shipping on Tuesday announced new charter contracts for two of its vessels, the Polymnia and Los Angeles.Diana said it has extended the time charter contract with CLdN Cobelfret SA for the Polymnia, a  98,704 dwt Post-Panamax dry bulk vessel built in 2012.The gross charter rate is $10,000 per day for the first 30 days of the charter period and $15,000 per day for the balance period of the time charter, in each case minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until minimum April 1, 2024 up to maximum May 31, 2024. Diana Shipping Secures Three Time Charters

Dry bulk shipowner Diana Shipping Inc. on Monday announced it has entered into separate time charter contracts for three of its vessels.The company said it will charter its vessel Amphitrite to Cobelfret S.A. for $14,250 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until minimum December 1, 2023 up to maximum February 15, 2024. The charter is expected to commence on November 10, 2022. The Amphitrite is a 98,697 dwt Post-Panamax dry bulk vessel built in 2012.Diana will also charter its vessel Crystalia to Reachy Shipping (SGP) Pte. Ltd. for $12,500 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until minimum September 1, 2023 up to maximum October 15, 2023. The charter is expected to commence on November 8, 2022.

Diana Shipping Secures Charter Extension

Dry bulk shipping company Diana Shipping announced that it has extended the time charter contract with CLdN Cobelfret SA, Luxembourg, for one of its Post-Panamax dry bulk vessels, Polymnia.The Polymnia is a 98,704 dwt Post-Panamax dry bulk vessel built in 2012.The vessel is currently chartered at a gross charter rate of $12,100 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, and the new gross charter rate is $24,750 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties.The new charter period is expected to commence on February 2, 2022, and will run until minimum January 15, 2023 up to maximum March 15, 2023.Diana said the employment is anticipated to generate approximately $8.49 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter.

MacGregor to Supply Cargo Access Systems for Mega RoRo Ships

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been contracted by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries to deliver RoRo access equipment packages for a series of two post-Panamax RoRo carriers. The vessels are under construction at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) for the Luxembourg-based operator CLdN (Cobelfret), with options for another three. Ordered as part of CLdN's fleet expansion and modernisation program, the 235-meter-long and 35-meter-wide vessels will reportedly be the world's largest commercial RoRo carriers. Each MacGregor RoRo access equipment package will comprise a stern ramp, internal ramps, bulkhead doors and four levels of hoistable electrically-operated car decks. The gross weight of the equipment is about 2,200 metric tons per ship.

Euroship Installs Software on New Bulk Carrier Vessels

U.K.-based Marine Software Ltd. have delivered Marine Planned Maintenance, Marine Storekeeper and Marine Purchasing software packages to Ship Managers Euroship Services for their new build handysize Bulk Carrier vessels, Lowlands Saguenay and Lowlands Boreas (35,000 DWT). Constructed at the Zhejiang East Coast Shipbuilding yard, these Cobelfret owned vessels will also be equipped with Marine Software's integrated barcode package to assist with on-board spare parts management.

Ecospeed Suited for Thruster Tunnel Protection

After successful results with four existing ro-ro vessels, Cobelfret NV ordered the Ecospeed coating of the thruster tunnels of five newbuild vessels, the fourth of which was coated last month. The application of the three newbuild vessels was performed at the Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft mbH & Co. KG shipyard. In the same period another thruster tunnel, on a vessel owned by the U.S. Coast Guard, was also given Ecospeed protection at the Fraser Shipyards Inc. in Superior, Wis. Grit blasting and application of the two layers is completed in the presence of an Ecospeed inspector.

Delivery of the Cüneyt Solakoglu

On Friday Dec 19 the naming and launching ceremony of a new 634 ft RoRo freight ferry will take place in Flensburg, Germany. The freight ferry is the thirteenth of fourteen RoRo vessels, which our longstanding Turkish customer U.N. Ro-Ro has ordered with Flensburger. U.N. Ro-Ro is in ownership of the private investor KKR (New York), who took over the shipping company U.N Ro-Ro in 2007. The vessel will be christened Cüneyt Solakoglu. Eleven-Ship Contract Placed by EuroShip

Euroship Services has ordered 11 Navmaster PC-based ECDIS to be installed throughout the Cobelfret fleet of Ro-Ros. The contract was awarded to PC Maritime, developers of Navmaster, after extensive competitive trials of 5 systems over a six-month period. Navmaster was selected for its clarity and ease of use, backed by PC Maritime's high quality service and responsiveness to customer requests. The EuroShip contract includes installation and training delivered by PC Maritime staff onboard each of the eleven ships. Seven are already operating with Navmaster, and the remaining four installations will be completed in October.

Rotterdam Cargo Traffic Surges

In the first half of 2004, 177 million tonnes of cargo was transhipped in the port of Rotterdam, 8 percent more than the first half of 2003. Outgoing trade increased more noticeably than incoming trade (6.7% and 11.6% respectively) and general cargo grew almost twice as fast (12%) as bulk cargo. Only the amount of coal handled was down (2%) on the first half of last year. The other categories of goods grew: agribulk (+10.6%), ores and scrap (+7.6%), other dry bulk (+6.6%), crude oil (+5.3%), mineral oil products (+13.2%), other liquid bulk (+5.6%), roro (+5.5%), containers (+13.3%) and other general cargo (+7.8%). In numbers, container throughput increased by 12% to 4 million TEU (20-foot units). The prospects for throughput in the second half of the year are good.

Rotterdam Records Slight Drop

According to provisional figures, cargo throughput in the Port of Rotterdam in 2001 totalled 315.5 million tons. comparison with the record year of 2000. and the general cargo sector (-4.9%). The number of containers handled fell by 2.4% from 6.3 mln TEU in 2000 to 6.1 mln TEU in 2001. Imports of crude oil and the throughput of other liquid bulk cargo (chemicals, oils and fats) remained virtually stable. Throughput of oil products and petcoke (+10.5%), coal (+6.9%) and agribulk (+1.4%) increased. 5 mln tons. Imports showed a slight decline, by 2 million tons or 0.7%. Spaarneborg Premieres As First Of Stora Enso's New Series

A member of the Wagenborg trio, MV Spaarneborg was constructed at German shipyard Flender Werft as part of a key component within a new transport system developed by forestry product company Stora Enso. Modeled after a new intermodal project, the vessel, as well as its two sisterships measures 600 x 82 x 49 ft. (183 x 25 x 15 m), with a deadweight of 13,000-dwt. Cruising at speeds of 18 knots, Spaarneborg, as well as its additional fleet members - Schieborg and Slingeborg — will run between the Gothenburg to Zeebrugge route. Designed to transport 105 specially-sized Stora forest product containers - the technologically-driven SECU (Stora Enso Cargo Unit) container - measures 45 x 12 x 12 ft. (13.8 x 3.6 x. 3.6 m), with an endloading door.

Cobelfret Starts New Service

April 23 Cobelfret Ferries starts a new service Rotterdam-Purfleet (Thames, near London). Initial frequency is once a day in both directions. In due course the company wants to offer two daily sailings. Cobelfret already runs a daily service Rotterdam-Immingham. Both services will be handled on the recently acquired dedicated Rotterdam terminal.

Flensburg Makes its Mark Again

In a further display of hard-earned competitiveness tempered by pure industrial will, Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft has brought another export shipbuilding contract to Germany at a time of ever-more determined incursions by oriental yards into the European market. The Flensburg yard's sealing of a deal with Belgian shipping and logistics company Cobelfret for two container/RoRo (ConRo) vessels has strengthened its standing as a builder of large, RoRo equipped vessels for demanding shortsea trades. The Cobelfret newbuilds have been dubbed the Humbermax type, having been optimized for North Sea service linking the company's new Killingholme terminal on Humberside, in eastern England, with Zeebrugge and Rotterdam in the Low Countries.

Flensburger Gets Orders for RoRos

Cobelfret NV of Belgium has exercised two options for Flensburger’s ConRo 220 type. The new vessels measure 641 ft. The first vessel will be delivered in November 2010, and the second vessel in February 2011. Since 1998 FSG has acquired 38 contracts for RoRo Ferries.

ConRo Vessel to be Launched

On Friday, August 11, 2006, the first of two Con-Ro vessels for the Belgium customer Cobelfret will be launched by Flensburg. Delivery is planned for November 2006. The new designs for Cobelfret are the largest vessels ever built at the yard. To date Flensburger has another 10 vessels on order, including: 1 Con-Ro ferry for Cobelfret N.V., 3 double-ended RoRo ferries for 1600 day passengers for BC Ferries, Canada, 2 RoRo ships for U.N RO-RO, and 4 RoRo vessels for an european owner.

BHP Acquires Belgium Shipping Group

Australia's Broken Hill Pty Co. Ltd. reportedly acquired a 50 percent stake in Belgium-based shipping group, Cobelfret, in a bid to deliver cargoes more competitively.

Port of Rotterdam Throughput is Up

In the first six months of 2001, throughput in the port of Rotterdam increased to 161.8 million tons, 2.3% more than in the first half of 2000. The transshipment of coal (+26%), petrochemical products and petcokes(+%), crude oil (+7.5%) and agribulk (+16%) in particular contributed to the good result. Other liquid bulk (chemicals, oil and fats, -2%), other dry bulk (including sand, phosphates, minerals, -%), ores and scrap (-10.2%) and the three general cargo groups (roll on/roll off, containers and other general cargo) showed a decrease. Total incoming trade increased by 5%, while outgoing trade was down 6%. During the first six months, growth gradually slackened off again.
