Thrane & Thrane to Trade as Cobham SATCOM

Cobham plc has established a new strategic business unit (SBU) Cobham SATCOM: Thrane & Thrane will form its core. Headquartered in Denmark, Cobham SATCOM is led by Thrane & Thrane CEO Walther Thygesen with assistance from a multinational management team, and includes Cobham’s satcom facilities in Cape Town, South Africa, Concord, California and Orlando, Florida. Cobham SATCOM is now twice the size of what either Thrane & Thrane or Cobham’s legacy satcom businesses were prior to this coambination. Rebranding of Thrane & Thrane will begin immediately and is expected to complete during 2013. In addition to adopting the Cobham SATCOM name and Cobham’s brand, the SATCOM SBU will be rebranding its products throughout 2013.

Thrane & Thrane’s Sailor Fleet Broadboand Chosen by Thome Ship Management

Thrane & Thrane – a Cobham plc company – has been selected to supply market-leading SAILOR FleetBroadband terminals to Thome Ship Management, an international shipping service supplier that manages a diverse fleet in excess of 180 vessels, under a new frame agreement facilitated by AND Group plc. Through this agreement, a combination of SAILOR 250 FleetBroadband and the flagship SAILOR 500 FleetBroadband bundled with airtime packages will be delivered to vessels managed by Thome. With well over 25,000 SAILOR FleetBroadband terminal’s delivered to date, Thrane & Thrane’s established system is the clear FleetBroadband terminal market leader.

J.F. Lehman & Co. Acquires ACR Electronics

J.F. Lehman & Company acquired ACR Electronics, Inc. from Chelton Avionics, Inc., a subsidiary of Cobham plc. ACR Electronics, Inc. is a leading provider of safety products and solutions to the aviation, marine, military and commercial markets worldwide. The Company’s core products include life-saving devices such as rescue beacons, safety lights, and other safety equipment which have been sold for decades under the ACR and Artex brands. “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to invest in ACR Electronics,” said Stephen Brooks, Partner at J.F. ACR President Paul Frank Retires

Frank, who joined ACR on September 15, 1980 as Vice President of Administration, and was appointed President in 1994, has overseen tremendous growth at ACR. Cobham plc, ACR’s parent company, is currently interviewing candidates to succeed Mr. Frank with a newly-created General Manager position. Under Frank’s leadership, ACR has evolved from a small manufacturer, selling primarily into military and aviation markets, into a multi-disciplinary, high-tech brand selling into eight market channels around the world.
