New Autonomous Zero-emission Containership Design Unveiled

A new design for an autonomous zero-emission short sea containership has been unveiled by Belgium based ZULU Associates.The 200 TEU vessel, featuring an auxiliary wind assistance system, is a larger seagoing development of an inland waterways 90 TEU X-Barge, currently under final construction design.The latest design is produced by Dutch ship naval architects Conoship International, said Zulu Associates CEO Antoon Van Coillie.“We’re delighted to be working with Conoship International who share our passion for innovation,” he said.

Holland Shipyards Wins Order for Three Coastal Vessels

As partner of the Dutch-based Hudig & Veder Group, Hartel Shipping & Chartering, has awarded Holland Shipyards Group for the delivery of three newbuild MPP coasters of 3.800 DWT.The new Conoship-designed vessels measure 89.42 meters by 13.2 meters and will have a cargo hold capacity of 5.530 cubic meters and a tween deck to allow for increased project cargo capacity.Hartel Shipping has opted for a diesel-electric drivetrain, allowing for running on sustainable fuels now and later on in the future.

Gelibolu Shipyard Begins Building Conoship River Cargo Ship

Ship design and engineering firm Conoship International Projects said it has developed a new 3,600 dwt general cargo vessel suited for sea-river operations, which it says will provide major fuel savings and environmental advantages. Geo Plus Takes Delivery of New Survey Vessel

Survey Vessel Launched for Geo Plus

Dutch shipbuilder Royal Niestern Sander said it has launched a new vessel currently under construction for hydrographic survey firm Geo Plus BV. Conoship to Design DP2- B-type Vessels for Spliethoff

The Netherlands-based maritime engineering company Conoship International recently signed a contract with China’s Mawei Shipyard for the design of Spliethoff’s two multipurpose DP2 B-type vessels.The versatile characteristics of this new B-Type make this vessel unique in the market and will comply with the requirements of IMO Tier III. They are built under class of Lloyd’s Register, have ice class 1A and also comply with the Polar code.The ships are to be delivered in October 2021 en February 2022.Shipping company Spliethoff Group, Amsterdam, has recently ordered nine new ships from Chinese shipyards. Radio Holland Nav/Com for new Ferry

Radio Holland received an order for a Navigation & Communication package for a 250-passenger, aluminium catamaran ferry built by Thecla Bodewes Shipyards (TB Shipyards, headquartered in Harlingen, Netherlands). Ecodelta Christened in Rotterdam

A new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Ecodelta, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG),  was christened last Friday (January 11) in the Dutch port of Rotterdam.The dredging vessel, built at the Dutch yard Barkmeijer for shipping company Van der Kamp, is a key component of the new contract entered into by Bagger & Aannemingsmaatschappij Van der Kamp and the Port of Rotterdam Authority.In 2015, the project Ecodelta was initiated by Van der Kamp, a Zwolle-based dredging company and Conoship International.This one of a kind dredger has two main objectives: recover valuable material from the seabed and create a greater depth of water.

Bureau Veritas Boosts Dutch Maritime Innovation

International classification society Bureau Veritas said it is boosting innovation and sustainability in partnership with Dutch owners, builders and designers. LNG Bunkering: SSS Chooses Suitable Ships for Project

The European consortium for Short Sea Shipping (SSS) chooses 8 ships to provide an insight into feasibility of LNG as a bunker fuel. The selection of ships took place in close co-operation between the SSS consortium partners. Both new designs, new buildings as well as existing ships of Wagenborg Shipping, Damen Shipyards Bergum, Meyer Werft & Conoship International were selected. The sizes of these ships vary in length from about 80 meter up to 160 meter and in tonnage from about 2.500 until 15.000 dwt. Research for these ships starts with determination of the cost for implementation and use of LNG systems and then the results of this research will be compared against the use of scrubber technology and low sulphur marine diesel to curb engine exhaust gas emissions.

Dutch Pilot Vessel for North Sea Station Christened

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands christens the boat 'Polaris' at the Cruise Terminal Rotterdam. Conoship's member shipyard Barkmeijer had earlier launched Pilot Station Vessel ‘Polaris’ (NB 324). This vessel design is the result of close collaboration between the Dutch Pilot Organisation, Barkmeijer Shipyards and Conoship International. Special attention was paid to motional behaviour in typical all year round North Sea environment.  Conoship developed the new hull lines in collaboration with SasTech, and the excellent sea keeping characteristics were confirmed in the extensive model testing program at MARIN. The vessel has already commenced operations for the Dutch Pilot Organisation, and two sister pilot boats will follow her in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Destini Marine To Build Cruise Ships

Destini Marine Sdn Bhd and Conoship International B.V (Conoship) of the Netherlands inked a cooperation agreement to build 20 luxury cruise ships for the European market, according to a report on www.bernama.com.my. The deal was signed by Destini Marine chairman Datuk Abdul Malek Abdul Hamid while Conoship was represented by its general manager, Philippe Swolfs. The ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh. Resilient Dutch Network

As a bastion of ship production in the under 10,000-dwt-vessel range, the industry in the northern Netherlands continues to demonstrate true global competitiveness in its chosen fields of endeavor. While much of European shipbuilding bewails the intensified onslaught from the Orient, impinging on an ever-greater range of ship types and ever-widening circle of European shipowning communities, the yards and allied firms in the northernmost Dutch provinces are putting down building blocks in new market areas. Key points of the investment-underwritten drive to increase market reach and develop business volume are a push towards larger vessels, up to 20,000-dwt in some cases, and the forging of new relationships with builders in Eastern Europe.

Meet the ULFPS

While seeking to consolidate its existing LNG carrier workload by bidding for new tonnage to serve the Qatari export traffic and other projects, Spanish shipbuilder IZAR has intensified its research endeavors so as to create a broader business platform in the energy market. The group has thrown its weight behind a new initiative aimed at developing floating plant incorporating gas-to-liquids (GTL) technology to extract and convert gas from remote offshore fields into premium grade liquid products. The joint industry research and development project, known as Seagas, draws in IZAR Fene Shipyard (the former Astano establishment), Bermuda-based engineering corporation Foster Wheeler, and other partners from various disciplines.

Petromarine Calls Upon Niestern Sander

French shipowner Petromarine has ordered Niestern Sander to construct a third tanker wider than 52 ft. (16 m). Built under hull no. 813, the 12,200-dwt vessel is the largest ever built in the Province of Groningen. Constructed under Bureau Veritas guidelines, the double hull tanker is equipped with an electrical driven emergency propulsion plant, and upon its completion at the yard's floating dock in the port of Delfzijl, is scheduled for an October 2001 delivery. The vessel's design is in collaboration with Conoship International of Groningen, Netherlands.

Knutsen OAS Shipping Leads Gas Shipping Charge

Knutsen OAS Shipping of Haugesund, Norway, is no stranger to international shipping circles, with roots back to 1896 when the founder of the Knutsen company bought his first vessel. Today, the company operates one of the most sophisticated and modern fleets of purpose-built shuttle tankers, chemical carriers and product tankers in the world, and is presently operating the largest fleet of purpose-built DP class shuttle tankers in the world. The company has adhered to a hands-on strategy, based on the development of total projects from design to operation. The strategy has, throughout the last 10 years, been implemented with a program of 20 newbuildings worth more than $1 billion.
