Alphatron’s River Radar a Success in Venice

Alphatron Marine announced has, together with its Italian distributor SIRM, signed an agreement with the Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano (ACTV) authority for the delivery of 40 river radars for the public transport lines in Venice, Italy. With Venice renowned for its many canals and low bridges, the river radar model JMA-610 was required to undergo special modifications. The scanner unit, positioned on top of the wheelhouse should, once the captain puts the radar into standby mode, stop rotating precisely at a fixed position.

Massive Italian Shipborne Navigation Contract for Transas

Transas Marine has won the Italian tender of "Consorzio degli armatori del mediterraneo" for supply of navigation equipment for 64 vessels. "Consorzio degli armatori del mediterraneo" is the Italian Shipowners Research Consortium which consists of 6 shipowners (Augusta Due, Marnavi, L.G.R. di Navigazione, Gestioni Armatoriali, Elbana di Navigazione, Perseveranza). According to the contract, Transas dual Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS Premium systems will be installed onboard of 64 oil/chemical tanker and bulk carrier vessel.

European Intermodal Research Council Formed

The European Intermodal Research Advisory Council (EIRAC), composed of more than 50 key players from large intermodal businesses, was launched at a high-level round table meeting in the Brussels Hotel Metropole, on 3 May 2005. CEOs and Managing Directors with decision-making capability from all over Europe have created this advisory body to the European Commission. EIRAC has a balance of major stakeholders from all sectors of the intermodal industry: intermodal rail and road operators, terminal operators, logistic freight integrators, short sea shipping operators, ports, terminal handling, freight villages, and ICT equipment suppliers. A few selected academics have also been invited.
