Peter Döhle Sells Hammonia Reederei

Hamburg-based provider of shipping services Peter Döhle and Ernst Russ are selling ship management company Hammonia Reederei  to  Scandinavian investors, Ness Risan and Partners (NRP), a Norwegian investment fund and former owners of Containerships Group, Finland.With the transaction, Ernst Russ follows its strategy and further focuses on activities in asset investment and asset management in shipping and real estate, said a release from Ernst Russ AG, a listed asset and investment management company in Germany with a focus on maritime business.Prospectively, Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG bundles the fleet’s technical management in-house…

Containerships Group Beefs Up Network

Containerships Group has launched a new and beefed up network and schedule of calls, focusing on larger vessels and adding new services with Norway and Denmark. Containerships services will now focus on 700 to 900 teu vessels and will link Aarhus, Fredrikstad, Gdansk, Hamburg, Helsinki, Klaipeda, Liepaja, Rotterdam, Soderjtale, St Petersburg, Teesport and Tilbury with fast and frequent sailings. The new network brings Fredrikstad in Norway and Aarhus in Denmark into the system, linking them to Helsinki, and gives St Petersburg four calls per week. It also highlights the growing importance of the Latvian port of Liepaja as a Russian cargo transit point by serving that four times weekly. access to Russia and the Baltic States. fleet is now similar in size.

Eimskip, Containerships and Kursiu Linija form Joint Venture

Shipping and logistics company Eimskip, Lithuania's Kursiu Linija and Finnish shipping and container company Container Finance Ltd have joined forces to create a door-to-door logistics providers. The new joint-venture company Containerships Group will be based in Helsinki and will operate eleven ships on services linking east and west Europe, the Baltic States and Russia. It will be the cornerstone of a much larger alliance including the services of its parent companies. Eimskip, which earlier this year completed the purchase of Kursiu Linija, has purchased 65 per cent of Containerships Group, the shipowning and logistics arm of Finland's Container Finance Ltd. Kursiu Linija will become a subsidiary of Containerships Group.

Containerships Group Welcomes FESCO Statement

FINLAND-based door-to-door short-sea operator Containerships Group has welcomed a public statement by FESCO which clearly states that it is not involved in any attempts to purchase the Containerships Group or the Moby Dick terminal used by Containerships Group in St Petersburg. Sigurjon Markusson, managing director of Containerships Group says, "We welcome and fully accept the statement by FESCO that they have not been looking at buying our group, and that statements attributed to them in the Russian press were made up by journalists. We also welcome and accept their clarification that they are not involved in the harassment suffered by our terminal operators in St Petersburg."

Containerships Group to Streamline UK Operations

Containerships Group is streamlining its U.K. operations to increase the efficiency of its services. As part of the reorganization, Teesport will become the new operational center for Containerships’ UK services, and the Felixstowe office will be closed, on May 31 this year. The London office, meanwhile, will continue to operate as normal. The streamlining procedure will involve an increase from 30 to 42 in the number of trucks operated from Teesport, beginning within the next few months.
