Damen Delivers for Murjan Al Sharq Marine

To complete an extensive oil pipeline dredging and installation project, Murjan Al Sharq Marine Contracting Co. Ltd. (MSMC) has taken delivery of three Damen vessels: a Stan Tug 1606, a Shoalbuster 2509, and a Stan Pontoon 4512 equipped with a Damen DOP Pump. For Damen, this marks the successful conclusion of a coordinated construction and delivery contract involving three shipyards in the Netherlands, China and the United Arab Emirates.The delivery ceremony of the Shoalbuster 2509 at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem was attended by MSMC Chairman Mr Abdullah Natheer and General Manager Chris Clark.

Cummins Power for Arabian Gulf Crewboat

The Kuwaiti company, Arabian Gulf Mechanical Services and Contracting Co. Ltd., has been operating a 30.5-meter Grandweld-built crew boat since the summer of 2007. The successful boat, named Fraih-8, carries a 6.4-meter beam with a 3.25-meter depth allowing for 8400 gallons of fuel and 2000 gallons of fresh water as well as 195 gallons each of black water, grey water, Lube and hydraulic oil. Accommodation for an 8-member crew is provided along with seating for 24 off-shore personnel.Propulsion is provided by a pair of Cummins KTA38-M2 engines each producing 1400 HP at 1950 RPM and turning into ZF 3055 gears with 2.5:1 reduction and turning five-blade propellers for speeds in the 20 knot range. Engine controls are by ZF Mathers and steering is by Kobelt.

Rowan Nets Contract Offshore Saudi Arabia

Rowan Companies announced that its Tarzan Class jack-up, Bob Keller, has been awarded a term drilling contract for work offshore Saudi Arabia. The contract provides for a three-year term, over which the Company expects total revenues of approximately $201 million, and contains an option for a fourth year. The Bob Keller recently concluded work in the Gulf of Mexico and is en route to the Middle East. The rig is expected to commence drilling operations during the second quarter of 2008. Danny McNease, Rowan Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "We are pleased to grow our relationship with Saudi Aramco and again want to thank Rawabi Trading & Contracting Co. Ltd. for their continuing assistance. Just two years ago, we re-entered the Middle East market after a 25-year absence.

Rowan Obtains Drilling Contracts in Saudi Arabia

Rowan Companies, Inc. was awarded term drilling contracts by the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi ARAMCO) for two Tarzan Class jack-up drilling rigs to begin operating offshore Saudi Arabia in 2007. Each contract is for a four-year term. The relocation of the two rigs from the Gulf of Mexico will begin in January 2007 and the rigs should be operational in Saudi Arabia by the end of the first quarter. Rowan estimates that revenues from the contracts will be in excess of $550m.
