Braemar Shipping Services Adds New LNGC 'LNG Schneeweisschen'

Braemar Shipping Services announced the successful delivery of the 180,000m3 Liquid Natural Gas Carrier (LNGC) called “LNG Schneeweisschen” from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), South Korea, as part of the ongoing LNGC newbuilding project between Uniper Global Commodities SE (Uniper) and Braemar.The international provider of broking, financial, consultancy, technical and logistics services to the shipping, marine, energy, offshore and insurance industries said that the vessel has been built for Japan based owners, MOL, and may be provided to Uniper under a 20 year transportation agreement.Braemar has worked as the commercial (Braemar ACM) and technical (the engineering business within Braemar Technical Services) consultant for Uniper throughout this project…

Braemar Earnings Boosted by 'Rena' Operations

Braemar Shipping Services, international provider of shipping, marine & energy services, issues interim financial statement. The interim management statement refers in relation to the period since the announcement of the interim results on 30 October 2012. Revenue from the Environmental division was boosted by £15-million in the first half by the work on the MSC Rena in New Zealand. In the third quarter revenue from work on the container shipwreck reduced faster than expected, to £3.4m. Braemar's involvement in this project is expected to be completed by the financial year end. The Shipbroking division continues to face challenging conditions, with excess shipping capacity in most sectors affecting values and rates.

Braemar: Interim Management Statement

Braemar Shipping Services plc, (“Braemar”), an international provider of shipping, marine and energy services, today issues its interim management statement in relation to the period since the announcement of the interim results on 30 October 2012. The Shipbroking division continues to face challenging conditions, with excess shipping capacity in most sectors affecting values and rates. An increasing proportion of Braemar’s business is now done on the spot market. There were no significant changes in the market conditions in the past three months. Braemar Technical Services performed in line with management’s expectations. It continues to develop its position as a global provider of surveying, adjusting and engineering services to the energy, shipping and insurance sectors.

Cory Plans for the Coldest Journey

Logistics expert Cory Brothers will be ensuring the start of Sir Ranulph Fiennes’ trans-Antarctic expedition gets underway without hitch by lending its agency and logistic services while the research ship, SA Aghulas is berthed on the Thames. The expedition, named The Coldest Journey, will be the first time anyone has attempted to cross the Antarctic during winter and will see Sir Ranulph and his team collect research and data on a journey spanning 20,000 miles over a six-month period in temperatures as low as -70 degrees Celsius.

Cory Logistics Ships Pilot Boat to East Africa

Cory Logistics loads the 65te pilot boat for shipment to East Africa.

Cory Brothers has just completed a pilot boat manoeuvre from Pembrokeshire to Kenya for commercial boat builder Mustang Marine. The boat was loaded directly from water onto a OXL heavylift vessel with 300te lifting capacity. Cory logistics project managed the full spectrum of services for the client including heavylift vessel agency, customs documentation, warranty surveying, insurance and managing technical issues. Cory Brothers New Route from Dublin

Cory Brothers Shipping Agency is delighted to announce the operation of a new route between Dublin, Ireland and Tin Can, Lagos, Nigeria. The new monthly route commences on Monday September 28th 2009 and is provided by RMR Shipping BV. RMR Shipping has many years' experience in exporting used vehicles, machinery and plant equipment to West Africa. Headquartered in The Netherlands, with a worldwide presence, RMR works with local Port Authorities to provide an efficient service to its clients. Lagos, Nigeria is the primary destination port for RMR, with additional calls in Monrovia, Liberia. Large Roll-on/Roll-off vessels, of some 2,500 metre lanes, are deployed on this route, providing an essential, regular, and direct service to Nigeria (with a transit of just 18 days).

Cory Brothers Shipping Wins BP Hub Agency Contract

Cory Brothers Shipping has been awarded a five year Hub Agency contract by BP Shipping covering the Baltic, Europe, and Mediterranean regions. This is the largest region awarded by BP Shipping within its global system and covers some 6,000 port calls per year. Cory Brothers will be responsible for managing the agency network for BP’s own fleet and voyage chartered vessels employed on BP business. The Hub Agency system ‘ShipTrak’ developed by Cory is linked to BP’s internal management system BPOSS providing a direct data link between the local port agent and BP. Apart from vessel reporting and port information, the hub team provides operational and financial control encompassing audit procedures through ‘ShipTrak’.

Shipping Industry Congratulates High Flyers

Representatives from all areas of the shipping industry gathered in London on September 27, to congratulate the highest scoring students in the 2001 Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ISC) examinations. This year, more than 1,100 students sat the examinations in 80 centers around the world. Eighty-two percent of the students were from overseas, illustrating the international appeal of the ICS. "It is very encouraging that so many students, from all corners of the world, have access to maritime related education and training. Also encouraging is the diversity of their backgrounds including accountancy firms, ship agents, oil companies, shipowners, government bodies, ship managers, insurance companies, port authorities and shipbrokers," says Barbara Fletcher, director at the ICS.

Demand for Shipping Jobs Grows

Young people are queuing up to join the U.K. shipping industry, according to Felixstowe-based ITS Training Services. in particular, entry-level positions. Over recent months, ITS has been busy building awareness of the range of careers available in the shipping industry. Not only has it attended career conventions at schools and colleges, it has organised a number of workshops giving students an insight into daily activities in the shipping industry such as dealing with bills of lading and customs clearance.
