Red Rock to Supply Cranes for New Nexans Aurora Cable Layer

Norwegian offshore crane supplier Red Rock has been hired once again by Ulstein Verft to deliver upgraded crane package for a new and updated version of the DP3 cable laying vessel (CLV) Nexans Aurora.The cable-laying vessel will feature a split turntable on deck capable of holding up to 10,000t of cable, an under-deck turntable with a 3,500t cable capacity.It will be one of the world’s most advanced cable layer vessels, measuring 31 meters in width and 149.9 meters in length.

Konecranes to Deliver RTGs to Slovenia

The Port of Koper operator in Slovenia, Luka Koper d.d., has ordered five electric Konecranes RTG cranes. The cranes will be equipped with cable reels featuring an auto plug-in system.They will be delivered in the summer of 2019. Observation Pod Gives Passengers a Bird's Eye View

Royal Caribbean International's first Quantum Class cruise ship, Quantum of the Seas, will feature a crane and observation gondola to lift guests 91 meters above sea level, giving them panoramic views of the ship, sea and ports of call. Supplied by MacGregor, the system, called North Star, includes a 7.1-metric-ton gondola to accommodate 14 guests and one crew member, as well as a stabilizing system to ensure that it remains level with respect to the vessel's deck, and will also damp gondola movements.

Observation Pod for Cruise Lines by MacGregor

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has supplied Royal Caribbean International's first Quantum Class cruise ship with a crane and observation gondola called the North Star. It will lift guests 91m above sea level to give them panoramic views of the ship, sea and ports of call. North Star's 7.1-tonne gondola can accommodate 14 guests and one crew member. A stabilising system ensures that it remains level with respect to the vessel's deck, and will also damp gondola movements, providing a comfortable ride. The crane's slewing system allows the gondola to swing out over the sides of the ship at sea. "We are the first crane supplier involved in anything like this for a cruise ship," says Jonas Hägglund, MacGregor Sales Manager.

Palfinger Wins New Customer in Peru

A few days ago, the telescopic marine crane PTM 1800 was officially handed over to Palfinger Marine’s new customer, Enersur S.A. The PTM 1800 will mainly be used in hosehandling applications for loading and unloading tankers, and the crane will be operated at a terminal close to the city of Ilo in the south of Peru. Ilo is of major importance to the mining industry in the region and it is therefore essential to ensure a sustainable supply of electrical energy, Palfinger said. Enersur S.A.

Konecranes Wins Crane Orders in Russia

In September and October 2007 Konecranes signed two contracts to supply container-handling cranes to the cargo terminal OJSC Petrolesport (PLP) in St. Petersburg, Russia. One of the orders comprises two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and the other six RTG (rubber tyred gantry) cranes. The cranes will be delivered in mid-2008. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the orders. PLP is one of the largest stevedoring companies in the port of St. Petersburg. PLP belongs to Severstaltrans Group of companies. Cargo traffic is increasing in Russia, so PLP is increasing its terminal capacity in the St. Petersburg port. Konecranes has delivered cranes to PLP's terminal in the past, and the terminal has six Konecranes cranes in its fleet, one STS and five RTGs.
