Carnival Fined $5 Million for Cybersecurity Violations

Shell Wins Marine Lubricants Deal with Carnival

Shell Marine said it has been awarded a multi-year contract to provide marine lubricants to cruise line operator Carnival Corporation’s global fleet of 89 ships. Carnival will offset the carbon dioxide emissions from the marine lubricants it purchases from Shell, through Shell’s nature-based carbon credits.Joris van Brussel, General Manager, Shell Marine, said, “Shell Marine is working with our customers to help the shipping sector decarbonize. Crew on TUI Cruise Ship Test Positive for Coronavirus

A cruise ship carrying about 920 passengers was expected to dock at Piraeus port near Athens, after 12 of its crew members tested positive for the coronavirus, an official at Greece's Civil Protection agency said on Monday.The Mein Shiff 6, operated by TUI Cruises, departed from Heraklion in Crete on Sunday with all passengers having tested negative before boarding.But sample tests on 150 crew members out of a total of 666, detected 12 infections. The ship's operators TUI Cruises said six of the 12 had since tested negative."They are all asymptomatic," the civil protection official said.

British manufacturer of marine windows Solar Solve Marine has won a contract to supply 20 SOLASOLV anti-glare, heat rejecting roller screens screens to the bridge windows of the cruise ship Celebrity Millennium. Finnish Shipyard wins Ship Deal from Royal Caribbean

Miami-based cruise line operator Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Meyer Turku shipyard signed a memorandum of agreement for two next generation cruise ship orders to be delivered in 2022 and 2024. The around 200,000 gross ton large cruise ships under the project name “Icon” will mark the beginning of a new generation of LNG powered cruise ships with a number of innovations such as an application of fuel cells for power generation. ABB Nets $60 million Propulsion Contract

ABB wins $60 million marine order for energy efficient propulsion system. Energy-efficient propulsion and reliable electrical systems for two new cruise ships to be built in Japan by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won an order worth $60 million to provide complete power and propulsion systems for two new cruise ships to be built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries at their shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan, for German cruise line operator AIDA. ABB’s delivery will help the ships maximize their fuel efficiency, speed and maneuverability, as well as provide a reliable power supply to improve the availability of onboard equipment.

Government Subpoenas Carnival Environmental Records

Carnival Corp. has received a federal grand jury subpoena asking the cruise line operator to produce documents and records concerning environmental matters, according to a regulatory filing. The Miami-based company received the subpoena on Aug. 22, 2000 from a grand jury sitting in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Carnival disclosed the news in a quarterly filing on Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. "At present we know very little about why the subpoena came to us and what the U.S. attorney is looking for," Carnival said in a statement. "Once that becomes apparent, we may be able to comment further."

Cruise Powerhouse Carnival Corp. Commences Intermediate Ratings

Merrill Lynch said on Monday it had started coverage of Carnival Corp., the world's largest cruise line operator, with "intermediate" and "long term accumulate" ratings. Merrill said in a research note Carnival had a leading and growing market share in the expanding cruise industry, and both the company's and industry's prospects are reinforced by high consumer satisfaction levels and strong value ratings. It added that it had a 12-18 month price objective of $32 for Carnival - whose shares closed on Friday at $27.59 on the New York Stock Exchange and have a 52-week range of $18.31 to $34.93.
