Inmarsat to Roll Out IoT Solution to More than 60 Zamil Offshore Vessels

Inmarsat, a mobile satellite communications services provider, will roll out an Internet-of-Things (IoT) solution to more than 60 of Saudi-based Zamil Offshore's vessels in the Gulf area.The solution - powered by Fleet Connect and Fleet Data delivered through Inmarsat’s Fleet Xpress - will allow Zamil to identify, trial and select the best solutions to meet vessel performance expectations set by its charterer, Saudi Aramco. The news of the deal between Inmarsat and Zamil Offshore follows a successful trial on the fleet’s anchor tug, Zamil 57.

Fujairah Bunker Sales Slide 2% in October

Marine fuel sales at the United Arab Emirates' Fujairah, the world's third-largest bunkering hub, slid 2% month-on-month in October as demand slowed.Total sales volumes at Fujairah, excluding lubricants, were at 655,126 cubic metres (about 627,000 tonnes) in October, showed latest data from the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone published by industry information service S&P Global Commodity Insights.The decline was led by a fall in low-sulphur bunker fuel sales, including low-sulphur fuel oil and marine gasoil.

Fujairah Bunker Fuel Sales Fall to Four-month Low

Marine fuel sales at the United Arab Emirates' Fujairah, third largest bunkering hub in the world, fell to a four-month low in June as high bunker premiums and tight supplies capped uptake.Total bunker sales volumes were down 13% month-on-month at 647,184 cubic meters (about 619,602 tonnes) in June, based on latest data from the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone published by industry information service S&P Global Commodity Insights."Fujairah barges have been trading above Singapore since mid-June.

Poor Communication Led to Barge Striking Bridge -NTSB

Poor communication led to a tow striking a railway swing bridge near Slidell, La., the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said in Marine Investigation Report released Thursday.On January 12, 2021, an empty hopper barge being pushed by the Robert Cenac struck the CSX Rigolets railway swing bridge while it was opening. The bridge sustained damage estimated at $1.1 million and the barge sustained minor damage estimated at $5,000. No injuries or pollution were reported.The pilot of the Robert Cenac called the bridge operator around 10:31 p.m. CST to request the bridge to be opened.

Lindsay‐Blee, Master Fuel Partner in Colombia

Marine fuel company Lindsay‐Blee said Wednesday it has entered into an exclusive marketing and distribution agreement with Master Fuel SAS of Cartagena, Colombia.Effective immediately, under the agreement Lindsay‐Blee will manage the sales and marketing of marine fuel products produced by Master Fuel for the Colombian market, including VLSFO (0.50% sulphur max,) HSFO 380 cst, and MGO LS (Max sulphur 0.10%.) All products will conform to ISO standards and are composed from lower‐sulphur straight‐run fuels.

Baltic Exchange Adds Tanker OPEX Assessments

The Baltic Exchange has added quarterly assessments of the cost of operating crude oil carrying Aframax tankers and clean product carrying Medium Range (MR) tankers to its growing suite of shipping investor tools.The new service is based on assessments made by independent third-party ship management companies Anglo Eastern, Fleet Management and V-Ships. IOC Sells IMO2020-Compliant Marine Fuel in India

State-owned Indian Oil Corp (IOC) said it has commenced delivery of Low Sulfur Furnace Oil (LSFO) for ships that is compliant with International Maritime Organisation's (IMO) mandate.The largest commercial oil company in India said in a press release that it commenced deliveries of LSFO with 0.5 per cent sulfur as marine fuel at ports in the country.The first such supply was made on 26th October 2019 to the LPG tanker Berlian Ekuator at Kandla port.ICO has made available LSFO 0.5% S grade marine fuel for immediate deliveries at Kandla and Kochi ports. Antwerp Port Inaugurates Solar Farm

The Port of Antwerp has inaugurated the first Concentrated Solar Thermal farm (CST) in Europe as part of its efforts to make its operations more eco- friendly.The pioneering energy technology generates eco-friendly heat from concentrated sunlight that can be used by industrial companies, claimed a press release from Europe’s second-largest seaport. The plant was installed for Adpo by the Genk-based energy company Azteq as part of a pilot project co-financed by the Flemish government.Industrial companies normally obtain heat for their processes from combustion of fossil fuels such as natural gas. QP Begins VLSFO Bunkering at Ras Laffan Port

Singapore Marine Fuel Sales Surge 7.2%

Singapore's marine fuel sales set a monthly record in January after climbing to 4.606 million tonnes, up 3.2 percent from a year earlier as vessels coming to the world's largest bunkering hub loaded larger amounts of bunker fuel per vessel on average, official data showed. Compared with the previous month, sales in January were up 7.2 percent, data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) showed. The number of vessels that called at Singapore for bunkers fell by 4.4 percent from last year to 3,472 but was at an eight-month high, MPA data showed.
