DP World has entered into two transactions to monetise its interests in two container terminals & a logistics centre in Hong Kong. The transactions will see DP World monetise 75% of its interests in CSX World Terminals Hong Kong Limited (CT3), which operates berth 3 of the Kwai Chung Container Terminal (‘CT3’) and ATL Logistics Centre Hong Kong Limited (ATL), a logistics centre located alongside CT3, and 100% of its interest in Asia Container Terminal Ltd (ACT), which operates Asia Container Terminal 8 West (CT8).

Volume growth at Vostochny International Container Services (VICS) increased by 48 percent in the first half of 2003. CSX World Terminals LLC (CSXWT) announced the appointment of two key management positions for its Pusan, South Korea, container terminal development project. Gerard van den Heuvel has been appointed as director-operations and John M. Elliott has been hired as commercial director. Van den Heuvel began his new assignment in May 2004, and Elliott will begin his new role on July 19, 2004. Both will report to Rob Walker, CSXWT vice president-South Korea. In his new position, van den Heuvel will be responsible for development of the Pusan terminal and terminal operations once construction is complete. Van den Heuvel has more than 15 years of experience in terminal and vessel operations management.

CSX World Terminals announced the promotion of Arno H. F. Dimmling to senior vice president and chief operating officer for CSX World Terminals, effective immediately. In his new role, Dimmling will oversee CSX World Terminals' operating policies and procedures and will direct the management of line operations in Europe, the Americas, Australia and Korea. CSX World Crane Services, CSXWT Operations Consulting and Information Technology will also have direct accountability to Dimmling is his new position. “Dimmling is an accomplished leader in the marine transportation industry who has been a valuable member of the executive team since the inception of CSX World Terminals in December of 1999, serving as vice president and chief operating officer.

The NY/NJ Foreign Freight Forwarders and Brokers Association announced that Christopher Koch, president and CEO of the World Shipping Council, will be honored as “2006 Person of the Year” at their annual dinner to be held in New York on January 25, 2006. This recognition is given to someone who demonstrates commitment, contribution and achievement in the international trade, transportation and logistics arena. “We are most pleased to have Mr. Koch as our 2006 honoree,” said Stewart B.
