The U.S. Coast Guard said on Wednesday it was responding to an oil discharge near the Main Pass Oil Gathering (MPOG) Co's pipeline system in the Gulf of Mexico, while the main pipeline and several surrounding ones remained shut in."The reported sheen is being investigated and has not been confirmed to be associated with the November 16 observed initial discharge," the Coast Guard said.The Coast Guard had not yet identified any damage or indication of a leak after surveying the entire length of the pipeline along with 22.16 miles (36 km) of surrounding pipelines.

As part of the life extension project for the Polvo Floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, operator BW Offshore has contracted Norwegian based liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions to supply new water booster pumps.PG Flow Solutions said its scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, assembly of pump skid and commissioning of two produced water booster pumps in super duplex materials, with 150kW electrical motors, variable frequency drives and pressurized seal system.“After a couple of challenging years for the Brazilian offshore industry, we are slowly seeing small signs of recovery,” said says Steve Paulsen, CEO of PG Flow Solutions.

The "Consórcio Tomé Ferrostaal" (CTF) named consortium of Rheinmetall International Engineering, a joint venture of Ferrostaal and Rheinmetall, and the Brazilian company Tomé Engenharia have handed over two modules for the first of a series of six vessels to an international consortium led by Petrobras. Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI), the world’s biggest shipbuilder and a leading offshore facilities contractor, announced today that it received a Letter of Award (LOA) for a USD 1.94 billion order for the second package of the Nasr Full Field Development Project to build the fixed platforms and to lay subsea cables from Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) on July 7, 2014. As per the LOA, HHI will undertake engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning work for the super complex comprising a gas treatment platform, a separation platform, an accommodation platform; laying 144 km subsea power and 55 km infield cables; and modifying an existing manifold tower and two wellhead towers in Nasr oil field, 130 km northwest of Abu Dhabi, UAE.

BSEE Hurricane Response Team monitors offshore oil & gas operators' activities in Gulf of Mexico, post TS 'Isaac'. From operator reports, it is estimated that approximately 71.50 percent of the current daily oil production in the Gulf of Mexico has been shut-in. It is also estimated that approximately 55.62 percent of the current daily natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico has been shut-in. The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Hurricane Response Team is activated and monitoring the operators’ activities. The team will continue to work with offshore operators and other state and federal agencies until operations return to normal. Oil and gas operators continue to assess their facilities and are submitting damage reports to BSEE as required.

Kerr-McGee Corp. reported second-quarter 2001 net income of $175 million ($1.71 per diluted share). This compares with income before special items of $217 million ($2.13 per share) and net income of $110 million ($1.11 per share) in the same prior-year quarter. The 2000 quarter included $107 million ($1.02 per share) in special charges. No special charges were recorded in the 2001 quarter. According to the new report, Daily Oil and Gas Production Rate Projections From 2002 Through 2006, Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf, MMS is forecasting a daily oil production rate of between 2.00 and 2.47 million barrels by the end of 2006, and a daily gas production rate of between 10.97 and 16.39 billion cu. ft. by the end of the same year. These represent high case and low case estimates. MMS Director Johnnie Burton called the new projections "a healthy, sizeable increase in the range of possible oil production.

Although onshore oil fields in and around flood-ravaged Tabasco state escaped major damage, some of the people working at those wells have been left in the lurch. Many oil workers are based in the flooded state capital of Villahermosa and have lost their homes. Nippon Oil Corp. has started commercial production of crude oil at a reservoir in the North Sea. Maximum daily oil production at the Blane field, located some 260 kilometers east of Scotland's Aberdeen, is estimated at 17,000 barrels. MOC Exploration (U.K.) Ltd., a fifty-fifty joint venture between Nippon Oil and the Japanese government, holds a 14.0 pct stake in the concession, which accounts for daily production of 2,380 barrels of crude oil. Nippon Oil plans to transport the crude oil from the field to the Scottish mainland via a pipeline, and then sell it on to European users, it said. The Blane field produces light crude oil, suitable for processing into gasoline and gas oil.

According to reports, U.S. and Mexican oil and natural gas producers evacuated some offshore Gulf of Mexico platforms and rigs, curtailing output as Hurricane Dean whipped past Jamaica heading towards the Yucatan Peninsula. Six of the 834 manned oil and natural-gas platforms along the U.S. Gulf Coast have been evacuated, the U.S. Interior Department's Minerals Management Service said Sunday in a statement. That's shut about 1.8 percent of the Gulf's 1.3 million barrels of daily oil production and 0.7 percent of the region's natural gas. Royal Dutch Shell Plc evacuated 380 workers Saturday, the company said in a statement. Shell has shut production in the Gulf by 23,000 barrels of oil and 47.5 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

An improvement has been made over the past month in oil and natural gas output in the Gulf of Mexico, which was interrupted last year when hurricanes Katrina and Rita damaged production platforms. Just over 15 percent of the normal daily oil production in the region is still blocked from market by platform shutdowns, compared with 21.6 percent on May 3, according to the Minerals Management Service, which manages federal offshore leases. At the same time, 11 percent of the normal daily production of natural gas was still blocked from market Monday, down from 13 percent last month, the MMS said. Before the storms, the Gulf produced about 1.4 million barrels of oil and 10 billion cubic feet of gas daily. Since Katrina first threatened the Gulf on Aug.

The Gulf of Mexico's offshore petroleum industry is far from recovering from hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and at least one-sixth of the region's normal daily oil production will still be offline at the start of next storm season, the AP reported.
