Damen Signs with Gerd Stensen for Stan Tug 1606

Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with Gerd Stensen AS from Norway for the delivery of a Damen Stan Tug 1606. The client will apply the new vessel to their dredging operations.Gerd Stensen, like Damen, is a family company. Their dredging work includes but is not limited to the extraction of coral sand for the French agricultural industry. Damen Shipyards Wins Stan Tug Order from SNRTM

Dutch shipbuilding giant Damen Shipyards Group has signed a contract with Société de Remorquage et de Travaux Maritimes (SNRTM) for the delivery of one Damen STu 1606 that shall operate in the Mediterranean Sea in Toulon, France.According to a press release from the manufacturer tugs and workboats, high speed crafts, ferries, offshore vessels, pontoons, the contract was signed in the Netherlands at Damen’s headquarters, between Eric Arnal, Managing Director of Société de Remorquage et de Travaux Maritimes and Arnout Damen, Chief Commercial Officer of Damen Shipyards Group.Société de Remorquage was founded in 1968 by Yves ARNAL (Mr. Eric Arnal's grand-father).

Dutch Police Order Six Damen-built Patrol Vessels

The Dutch Police has ordered six patrol vessels from Damen Shipyards for its ‘Zeehavenpolitie’ and ‘Landelijke Eenheid’ units. Three of the new vessels are seagoing (the Stan Patrol 2506) and the other three are for the inland waterways (the Stan Patrol 2005). All six will be built at Damen’s headquarters in Gorinchem in the Netherlands, and are due to be delivered between 2019-2021. Jeroen van Woerkum, Damen Shipyards Sales Manager Benelux is delighted to have won the European tender for the six patrol vessels.

Concordia, Damen Partner to Build Inland Vessels

Concordia Group and Damen Shipyards Group have signed a joint venture agreement to cooperate in the construction and trade of inland waterway vessels. The joint venture will operate under the name Concordia Damen Shipbuilding. Concordia has been active in the Dutch inland waterways business since 2001 and also internationally over the past decade. Concordia’s corporate identity will remain within the new joint venture. Celebrating its 90th birthday this year, Damen has been active in almost all sectors of the maritime industry since the beginning of the 20th century.

Damen Coordinating European Innovation Project LeanShips

The European Innovation Project LeanShips – Low Energy And Near To Zero Emissions Ships – will demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of energy saving and emission reduction technologies at real scale. LeanShips is one of the first projects funded under the new European Research and Innovation Framework Program HORIZON 2020. The project is coordinated by Damen Shipyards Group and jointly managed by the Netherlands Maritime Technology Foundation (NMT), the Center of Maritime Technologies (CMT) from Germany and Cetena, the Italian Ship Research Centre. LeanShips officially started on 1 May 2015 with a grant of 17 million Euro. The large project partnership consists of ship owners, shipyards, equipment suppliers and research institutes.

Hands Across the Water

The Metal Shark 165 Defiant, which is an offshore patrol vessel based on Damen’s Stan Patrol 5009. This is one of the Damen designs which will be built at Metal Shark’s Franklin yard.

For nearly 40 years, Damen Shipyards Group in the Netherlands has licensed its vessel designs and technical support to yards owned by other companies. The business practice showcases not only the depth, variety and strength of the Damen portfolio, but also the reputation and reliability of its designs. Since 1969, Damen Shipyards has delivered more than 5,000 vessels, typically averaging 160 vessel deliveries annually.

Damen Launches First PSV 3300 for PROMAR

Offshore ship manager PROMAR recently marked a milestone with the sideways launch into the Danube of the first of its two Damen PSV 3300s on order. On delivery in February 2015, the Swiss company believes the 80-metre Mamola Reliance will give them a valuable competitive edge in the West African oil and gas market. On September 4, Damen Shipyards Galati launched the PSV 3300 Mamola Reliance at an official ceremony at the yard in Romania. Damen platform supply vessels have become a familiar sight on the Danube since Damen introduced its range of high specification designs up to 6,300 dwt.

Damen Names Royal Oman Navy Flagship

Dignitaries from the Ministry of Defense of Oman joined senior Damen management at a ceremony at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, Vlissingen on May 8 to mark the naming of the Royal Navy of Oman’s new flagship, the Sail Training Clipper Shabab Oman II. The 87m long steel-hulled vessel is a three-mast, full square rigger built to design principles set for the iconic tea clippers of the 19th century, benefiting from 21st century technology and comfort. Featuring a fully unfurled sail area of 2,700m2, the vessel can accommodate 34 navy recruits plus a 58-strong crew.

Astinave Contracts Damen for 4th Patrol Vessel

Astilleros Navales Ecuatorianos EP has awarded Damen Shipyards Group the contract for a fourth Patrol Vessel of the Damen Stan Patrol 2606 type. This contract represents the last of this SPa 2606 series for the Ecuadorian Coastguard to be built locally. In Guayaquil, Damen will deliver the detailed engineering of the vessel together with a complete material package. The Ecuadorian Coastguard presently operates three Damen Stan Patrols 2606, all of them having a length of 26.5 m (87 ft), outfitted with state of the art equipment and reaching 30 knots.

Canada: Damen to Deliver 80m Ice Class Ferry

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Government has awarded Damen Shipyards Group an order for a state-of-the-art, 80 m Ice Class ferry, which will operate on the Fogo Island-Change Islands service. Scheduled for delivery in September 2015, the 14-knot ro-ro ferry will be able to carry up to 200 passengers and 60 vehicles. The investment in the new ferry is part of the Government’s vessel renewal program. She will replace the aging MV Captain Earl Winsor. Fifteen proposals were received in response to the Government's request for proposals for the construction of new ferry vessels.

Damen Delivers Fast Crew Supplier to Sea Consult

Danish company Sea Consult ApS has taken delivery of its first Damen Twin Axe as the company prepares to enter the offshore wind market. Based in Marstal, Sea Consult is a new customer to Damen and this will be the first Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 to be operated by a Danish company. The vessel already has work at Belgian and German offshore wind farms for the next year and the company’s new vessel is expected to be deployed in the next two weeks. According to Damen, the short delivery time was a major reason the Danish company decided to choose the Damen high-speed catamaran.

Soon after opening an office in Stavanger, Damen Shipyards is set to deliver a 2nd Stan Tug to a Norwegian owner, EB Marine A/S. This latest order for a Stan Tug 1204 comes after Damen Shipyards opened the office in October 2012 to serve the offshore industry and Norwegian shipowners: the first time the Dutch group has opened a sales office outside of the Netherlands. The contract is due to begin in April. Sales Manager of Damen Shipyards Stavanger, Remko Hottentot, says: “The advantage of Damen is that we can deliver from stock and this proved the ideal solution for EB Marine.

Damen Shipyards Norway Set to Deliver Stan Tug 1205

A few months after opening an office in Stavanger, Damen Shipyards is set to deliver a second Stan Tug to a Norwegian owner - EB Marine A/S - a family-owned diving company, which is one of the oldest diving companies in Norway. This latest order for a Stan Tug 1204 follows an order for a Stan Tug 1004 earlier in the year. Damen Shipyards opened the office in October 2012 to serve the offshore industry and Norwegian shipowners. Damen Delivers Last of 29 Vessels to Serco

A three-year, 29-vessel contract came to an end as the last tugboat of the huge Serco contract was named SD Deborah at the Damen headquarters in Gorinchem on 3 December 2010. Due to be deployed at Devenport, one of the main bases of the British Royal Navy, the SD Deborah was the smallest ASD tug in the order, which has included pilot boats, tugboats, high-speed craft, barges and a worldwide support vessel. SD Deborah is one of four sister tugs. The 16 Damen vessel types included in the order ranged between 39.3 ft and 282 ft.
