HST Marine Orders Three Battery-powered Fast Crew Suppliers from Damen

Offshore energy industry services provider High Speed Transfers (HST) Marine has ordered three Fast Crew Suppliers 2710s from Damen Shipyards for an undisclosed fee.Damen Shipyards said that the vessels would be fitted with 190kW battery arrays that will enable them to operate emissions-free both when in harbour and when loitering offshore awaiting the retrieval of their technicians. In zero-emission mode, the vessels will be propelled by an electrical motor that is connected via the gearbox (PTI) to the propeller shaft.

The new product range, comprising of the Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD) 4000 and 5600 vessels, was introduced in response to extensive market research and customer consultation. The MAD vessels are potentially important to an aggregate industry that, today, faces rising demand and an aging fleet. Designed in collaboration with Maritime Design and Engineering Services (MD&ES), the MAD 4000 and 5600 are welcome additions to Damen’s Trailing Suction Hopper Dredging portfolio.

Damen Unveils New Dredgers

Damen Shipyards Group has introduced its new line of Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHD), comprising of the Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD) 4000 and 5600 vessels. Designed in collaboration with Maritime Design and Engineering Services (MD&ES), the MAD 4000 and 5600 are geared for mining sand and gravel offshore. For offshore aggregate operations, the new vessels will be able to work in North Sea conditions up to depths of -60 meters. These capabilities allow operators to mine sand and gravel in deeper waters, farther from shore than preceding models.

Damen Builds Cable Installer For Maersk Supply Service

A newbuild DP2 cable installation vessel, Maersk Connector, was handed over from Damen Shipyards Group to Maersk Supply Service on February 4, 2016, and now goes directly on a long-term charter for subsea services provider DeepOcean. Built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania, Maersk Connector is the second of a new generation of cable-laying vessels based on the Damen Offshore Carrier (DOC) 8500 platform, customized to meet the challenges of reducing offshore renewables costs, the builder said.

Damen Offshore Carrier Maersk Connector Launched

Yesterday senior representatives of Maersk Supply Service, DeepOcean UK and the Damen Shipyards Group who gathered at Damen Shipyards Galati, Romania witnessed the launching of subsea support vessel Maersk Connector. The vessel is owned and operated by Maersk Supply Service and is built to contract for a seven year charter agreement with DeepOcean. Maersk Connector is the second of a new generation of cable-laying vessels developed by the Damen Shipyards Group. Equipped with survey and trenching capabilities, she will extend DeepOcean’s capabilities in the larger cable-laying end of the market, representing a new focus on interconnector projects in addition to oil and gas sector and renewables work.

HMC Helps Fine-tune Damen Offshore Carrier

In 2014, Pronomar equipped Van Oord’s offshore cable laying vessel Nexus with three drying cabinets, each responsible for the drying of eight sets of workwear. Nexus, a 126-meter Damen Offshore Carrier (DOC) 8500 cable laying vessel was delivered to Van Oord in December and is currently being finalized at Damen Shiprepair at Vlissingen, where Van Oord is building and installing the additional cable laying equipment. Damen delivered a new DOC 8500 cable laying vessel, Nexus, to international offshore contractor Van Oord on December 22. The 126-metre vessel is intended for the installation of electricity cables for offshore wind farms. Van Oord is currently making preparations for the Gemini offshore wind farm which will be constructed 55 kilometers to the north of Schiermonnikoog, one of the Dutch Wadden Islands, and the cable-laying vessel will be deployed initially at that site. SMM 2014: Offshore, Recruiting Featured Topics

Offshore energy, whether oil, gas or wind, faces a tightening regime of restrictions. In Germany, for example, the German Federal Bureau of Maritime Traffic and Hydrography (BSH) recently updated its standards for offshore wind energy units, offshore converter and inverter stations, and subsea high-power transfer cables. But regardless of the unclear political environment, the offshore industry continues to expand, a fact reflected in the order books of shipyards. Some recent achievements include: The Norwegian Fjellstrand shipyard in Oma completed the construction of "Siem Moxie", a so-called "Infield Support Vessel". Maersk ordered a new cable-laying vessel from the Dutch Damen shipbuilding group. The ship will be a "Damen Offshore Carrier DOC 8500" type.

Second Damen Offshore Carrier Ordered

A charter agreement between expanding subsea contractor DeepOcean and Maersk Supply Service has triggered an order for a Damen Offshore Carrier DOC 8500 - the second order for this new ship design from Damen Shipyards Group. The DOC 8500 will extend DeepOcean’s capabilities in the larger cable laying end of the market, representing a new focus on Interconnector projects, in addition to oil and gas sector and renewables work. The specially-equipped vessel will be delivered from the Damen Galati yard in Romania.

Damen PSV 3300: A Diamond in the Rough

The platform supply vessel World Diamond was delivered by Damen Shipyards, Galati, on June 28, 2013, to World Wide Supply. The PSV was built to a completely new and distinctive design from Damen, and World Diamond is the first of six PSVs for the Norwegian owner. Alewijnse Diesel-Electric Propulsion for Damen Cable Layer

Systems integrator Alewijnse Marine Systems has been awarded the contract for the full electrical fit out of Damen’s new cable layer, now under construction for international contractor Van Oord for delivery at the end of 2014. The 120m vessel is intended for the installation of electricity cables linking offshore wind farms to the shore. Alewijnse Noord and the Damen Shipyards Group have maintained a close working relationship for a number of years, and this latest contract is the most recent in a series of projects undertaken together.

Damen-built GARÇON Wins Innovation Award

The 67m Fast Yacht Support vessel, GARÇON, built by Damen, has won the ISS Awards of Distinction for Innovation at the International Superyacht Society Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale. GARÇON came out top of an industry-led voting process that assessed five shortlisted entries in the competitive and broad-ranging Innovation category. GARÇON was designed and customized according to the requirements of the client, the owner of an 87m luxury superyacht. Van Oord Contracts Damen for DP2 Cable Laying Vessel

Van Oord has ordered a new cable laying vessel. The ship will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania and will be completed at the end of 2014. The vessel is intended for the installation of electricity cables for offshore wind farms. Van Oord is making preparations for the Gemini offshore wind farm which will be constructed 60 kilometers to the north of Schiermonnikoog, one of the Dutch Wadden Islands. The cable-laying vessel will be deployed at that site, among many others.

Damen Shipyards Galati has handed over the second platform supply vessel in a series order heralding a new era in offshore construction for Damen Shipyards Group. World Peridot, built to Damen’s PSV 3300 design, has been delivered to World Wide Supply. Delivery comes just seven weeks after the handover of the first of class PSV 3300, World Diamond, and is part of a rolling six-ship handover schedule from Damen for WWS. The PSV was delivered on schedule and would join sistership World Diamond on the North Sea spot charter market.

Damen Offshore Carrier (DOC) 7500 design introduced: a smaller heavy transport, offshore installation & ro-ro platform. Damen developed the new vessel in cooperation with Singapore based heavy lift transport specialist Hans van Mameren, managing director of Ha-Ce Engineering Pte Ltd.. The DOC has an endurance of 65 days, a large, flat and unobstructed deck of 2,300 m², a deck strength of 20 t/m² and is highly fuel-efficient. Damen Set to Launch New PSV Series

Damen Shipyards will unveil its new Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) at EUROPORT 2011 and will launch a complete PSV range in the next few months. The PSV 3300 E3 is a dedicated supply vessel to transport supplies to oil and gas rigs and is specifically designed to perform safely in adverse weather conditions. The first two vessels will be built at the renowned Damen shipyard in Galati, Romania. Delivery is scheduled for early 2013. Damen’s new vessel series will range from the smallest PSV of 1,500 dwt to the largest of approximately 6,500 dwt.
