Hung Hua Construction of Taiwan Orders Third FCS

Hung Hua Construction of Taiwan has ordered a third Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) to add to the two it ordered at the start of the year.This latest vessel will be a Damen FCS 2610. Seaways International Takes Delivery of Two Damen FCS 2206

On March 4th at Damen Shipyards Singapore, Seaways International took delivery of two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2206. The Dubai-headquartered company has previously operated a Damen FCS 3307. Seaways International specializes in offshore marine services and will use the new vessels to transport crew to offshore energy locations in West Africa.Damen signed the contract with Seaways International on May 9, 2018. The swiftness of the delivery is due to Damen’s philosophy of standardized shipbuilding.

HHC Takes Two from Damen

Hung Hua Construction (HHC) of Taiwan placed an order for two of Damen’s latest fast crew supply vessel; the FCS 2710. Fast Ferry Launched for Angolan Transport Ministry

In a ceremony held at Damen Shipyards Singapore on April 19, His Excellency, Dr. Augusto da Silva Tomás, Minister of Transport for the Republic of Angola officially launched the new Damen Fast RoPax Ferry 4812 ordered by the Ministerio dos Transportes through IMPA (Instituto Marítimo e Portuário de Angola).The vessel will be operated by TMA Express (Transporte Marítimo de Angola) and operate on Angola’s Atlantic coastline between the capital Luanda and Cabinda, around 400 kilometers to the north, via Soyo.The Fast RoPax Ferry 4812 is the latest addition to Damen’s Fast RoPax Ferry range.

Fast Crew Supplier for P&O Repasa

P&O Repasa, a new company formed last year by the acquisition of the majority of the shares in Spanish towage firm Repasa by P&O Maritime, has taken delivery of one Damen Fast Crew Supplier 5009. Damen's Third Ferry for South Korea

All good things come in threes as Damen delivers the third vessel of the year, from the Damen Fast Ferry (DFFe) series to South Korean operators. Having already delivered the SeaStar 5 to existing customer Seaspovill earlier this year, two additional DFFe deliveries to new customers highlight the success of the series as well as Damen's broad portfolio directly available from stock. In May 2015, operator Daezer Shipping took delivery of a DFFe 4212 named ‘Sunrise’ from Damen Shipyards Singapore (DSSi). Delivered within three months of ordering, the vessel is powered by four MTU main engines (16V2000 M72) reaching a speed of over 40 knots. The Sunrise is currently operating a route of very popular tourist destinations on Koreas East-coast from the island of Ulleung to Dokdo.

SeaZip Takes Delivery of Damen Crew Suppliers

On 28 March, SeaZip Offshore Service named two new Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610 at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. The two vessels, named SeaZip 3 and SeaZip 4, will expand their owner’s offshore wind farm support capacity in the North Sea region. SeaZip 3 and SeaZip 4 can be described as the Mark II version of Damen’s renowned FCS 2610. Two More Damen Twin Axe Catamarans for SeaZip

Damen Shipyards and SeaZip Offshore Service signed another contract for two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610 at Wind Energy in Hamburg. The two new vessels, to be named SeaZip 3 and SeaZip 4, will be mobilized in transporting personnel and small quantities of freight to North Sea offshore wind farms. The new orders follow the delivery last year of two FCS 2610 – named SeaZip 1 and SeaZip 2 – that have been performing successfully at the NordseeOst and DanTysk offshore wind farms in the German Bight.

Seaspovill Orders Second Damen Fast Ferry

South Korean operator Seaspovill signed its second contract for a Fast Ferry with the Netherlands-based shipbuilder Damen Shipyards Group. The Fast Ferry 4212 - to be named SEA STAR 5 - will operate between Mookho and Ulleung-Do at the East-coast of South Korea. The ferry is a high-speed catamaran passenger ferry. As Damen keeps this successful type of ferry on stock the vessel has a short delivery time. The Damen Fast Ferry 4212 catamaran is designed and built to comply with the international code of safety for High Speed Craft, 2000 HSC Code.

Damen Expands Rix Sea Shuttle Offshore Fleet

U.K.-based Rix Sea Shuttle will shortly take delivery of their first ever Damen vessel – a Fast Crew Supplier 2610 – to support its growing involvement in the offshore crew transfer market. The new vessel, the Rix Lion, is due for delivery on July 4, six weeks after the contract was signed. “Our yards in Singapore and Vietnam build the FCS 2610 as a stock model,” said Damen Sales Manager United Kingdom & Ireland Arjen van Elk. “As such, we can offer our clients very fast delivery times.” This particular vessel was constructed at Damen Shipyards Singapore.

Damen Crew Supplier for Sure Wind

The first of two Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers has officially been handed over to British company Sure Wind. A specialist in the German offshore wind market, Sure Wind already has work for the two newbuild FCS 2610 vessels. The first vessel Sure Star will head straight to Esbjerg and will then be deployed in the German market. A second sister vessel, Sure Swift will be delivered end-February. Established in 2009, Sure Wind now has 10 dedicated wind farm service and crew transfer vessels but this is the first time the company has ordered a Damen vessel.

Damen Delivers Fast Crew Supplier to Sea Consult

Danish company Sea Consult ApS has taken delivery of its first Damen Twin Axe as the company prepares to enter the offshore wind market. Based in Marstal, Sea Consult is a new customer to Damen and this will be the first Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 to be operated by a Danish company. The vessel already has work at Belgian and German offshore wind farms for the next year and the company’s new vessel is expected to be deployed in the next two weeks. According to Damen, the short delivery time was a major reason the Danish company decided to choose the Damen high-speed catamaran.

With its latest delivery, Maritime Craft Services (MCS) said it has become the largest Twin axe owner and operator to services for offshore built wind turbines. Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd. took delivery of three more Twin Axe wind farm support vessels in June and two more will arrive next month. Windea Signs LOI for Damen Fast Crew Supplier

At the recent Windforce 2013 exhibition in Bremerhaven (Germany) Windea Offshore Group signed a Letter Of Intent (LOI) with Damen Shipyards Group for a new Fast Crew Supplier, a Twin Axe catamaran for the Offshore Wind industry. A typical feature of the FCS 2610 is the double Damen Sea Axe bow which creates a large uptime-window, amongst others by reducing slamming up to 70%. Windea Offshore is currently expanding its Offshore Wind activities, such as transporting personnel and maintenance staff to and from Offshore Wind Farms. The Twin Axe is being built at Damen Shipyards Singapore.

Three Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers En Route to MCS

Three more Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers are on their way to Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd and are expected to arrive in Europe in early May. Based in Largs, Ayrshire, MCS ordered three Twin Axe FCS 2610s, just months after taking delivery of its first two catamarans. All of the vessels are deployed in supporting offshore wind farms and in maintenance activities. With more than 30 years experience, the Scottish family firm operates a 19-strong fleet of tugs and workboats internationally and already has several Damen vessels including Multi Cats and Shoalbusters.

Mr Maarten Jongen has officially been appointed Managing Director of Damen Shipyards Singapore (DSSi) from March 2012. In his new role Mr Jongen will focus on marketing, services and further improving efficiency at the yard that has been building (aluminium) Damen vessels since 2000. DSSi has been part of the Damen Shipyards Group since 2000. Mr Jongen originally joined Damen in 2002 straight from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) where he studied Naval Architecture and Marine Technology.

Damen Shipyards Sign New Contract at EWEA

Damen Shipyards and SeaZip Offshore Service will sign a contract at the EWEA conference. SeaZip has ordered two Fast Crew Suppliers of the 2610-type. The first ever FCS 2610 was delivered early 2011 and offers reduced peak accelerations of up to 75%, reduced added resistance in waves of up to 60% and has already transferred maintenance crew to turbines in wave heights of 1.9 m. Jan Reier Arends, one of Seazip’s Managing Directors, will sign the contract with Roel van Eijle, Sales Manager Benelux, on the first day of the 2011 Offshore conference of the European Wind Energy Association.

Damen Group Acquires Kvaerner Fjellstrand Yard

Damen Shipyards Group has formulated an agreement with Kvaerner ASA to acquire the Singapore shipyard, Kvaerner Fjellstrand. An agreement has been signed for the acquisition by Damen of all shares in KFJS. Following the acquisition, the Singapore operation will be known as Damen Shipyards Singapore - employing the current staff of Kvaerner Fjellstrand Singapore.

Fast Ferry Ordered for Denmark

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem won a contract to build a 41-m aluminium monohull fast ferry for the Danish operator, Christiansøfarten A/S, based on the island of Bornholm. The new ferry will service routes between the Danish islands of Bornholm and Christiansø, as well as on the town of Simrishamn in Sweden. The owner, Christiansøfarten currently services these three routes with conventional coastal ferries. The new vessel will be delivered in March 2006, in time for the beginning of the European summer tourist season, and will be built at Damen Shipyards Singapore. Seating for 245 is arranged inside on the main deck in air-conditioned comfort with heating and cooling. Another 66 seats are fitted externally on the upper deck. Kiosk, toilets and luggage facilities are fitted on the main deck.
