TDI has introduced its TurboTwister line of turbine air starters allowing one basic model configuration to serve a engines ranging in size from 20-150 liters.“TurboTwister is the result of many conversations with customers about what they wanted in the next generation of air starters,” states Dave Rawlins, Senior Product Manager at TDI. “We’ve added more power and a complete start system in a smaller footprint which workboat operators will appreciate. We’ve made it even more air efficient too…

New Air Regulator from TDI

Tech Development (TDI) introduced its new TurboFlow Air Regulator which the company says improves air delivery to the start system. The TurboFlow Regulator combined with other TDI start system components provides matched air-flow to the turbine starter for improved reliability and system savings. “One of our marine customers was looking to get more than the three starts they were receiving from their air reservoir using (another) turbine starter,” said Dave Rawlins, Senior Product Manager at TDI.

New Air Regulator from TDI Improves Air Flow Consumption

Tech Development (TDI) introduces its new TurboFlow Air Regulator which the company says dramatically improves air delivery to the start system. The TurboFlow Regulator combined with other TDI start system components provides perfectly matched air-flow to the turbine starter for improved reliability and significant system savings. “One of our marine customers was looking to get more than the three starts they were receiving from their air reservoir using a competitive pre-engaged turbine starter,” states Dave Rawlins, Senior Product Manager at TDI.

New Inertia-Engaged Turbine Air Starter from TDI

TDI announced the introduction of a new, inertia-engaged turbine air starter designed to improve the reliability of mid size engines (up to 4,882 CID/80 Liters) on marine vessels, mine haul trucks and critical applications like emergency generator sets and fire pumps. The signature characteristic of the vaneless, TurboTwin T50-I is the 100% starting performance it delivers because of the inertia engagement. “With inertia-engaged air starters there is never an abutment causing an abandoned start attempt, meaning the design of the air starter assures pinion engagement every time. This translates to 100% starting reliability,” states Dave Rawlins, TDI Senior Product Manager. “We have tens of thousands of inertia-engaged starters in the field.

TDI Expands in Dayton

At a time when many companies are scaling back, Tech Development (TDI), a Dayton, Ohio manufacturer of turbine air starters and aerospace machinery has just completed a 49,000 sq. ft building addition to expand its manufacturing capability. The 49,000 sq. ft addition doubles the manufacturing floor space for TDI. “The additional space allows us to improve efficiencies by creating cellularized work areas and an overall better work flow in the plant,” continued Rawlins. In 2008, when facility construction began, TDI was celebrating its 50-year anniversary. Over the last 12 months, the company has introduced nine new products and has plans for even more. “The completion of this building expansion is pivotal to TDI’s growth strategy,” said Rawlins.
