NMEA Accepts Resignation of President David Hayden

Bruce Angus to serve as interim executive director. David Hayden, president and executive director of the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) since 2007, submitted his resignation to the organization’s board of directors at the conclusion of the NMEA’s International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo last week in Fort Myers, Florida. In a statement to NMEA Board Chairman David Gratton and Vice Chairman Johnny Lindstrom, who accepted his resignation, Hayden said, “I wish to thank the board for the opportunity to serve, and I believe that the timing is right for me to move on.

Husick Honored with NMEA Lifetime Achievement Award

In a ceremony that mixed fond memories with humorous stories, the National Marine Electronics Association celebrated the life of Charles “Chuck” Husick, who died September 13 at the age of 77. Association President, David Hayden, presented NMEA’s Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously to Husick’s son and grandson at the October 2 banquet capping the NMEA’s 2010 International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo in Seattle, Wash. Husick was the former head of the Chris-Craft Boat Co.

2009 NMEA Convention & Expo

The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) will hold its 2009 NMEA Convention & Expo Sept. 30 - Oct .2, 2009, at the Sanibel Harbour Resort in Fort Myers, Fla. “The NMEA Convention & Expo is very valuable for everyone involved in the industry, but it is really organized to serve NMEA dealers and their personnel,” said David Hayden, NMEA’s President and Executive Director. “This year’s Convention has never been more important, as we need to work together to address the current economic challenge to our industry,” he said. Featured speakers this year include Joe Hersey, Administrative Program Manager for the U.S. Coast Guard who will talk about the VHF band, and Lee Luft of the U.S.
