Dan Johnson is Info Systems-Tech Gr. EVP at General Dynamics

The board of directors of General Dynamics has elected S. Daniel Johnson to be executive vice president, Information Systems and Technology, effective January 1, 2015, to succeed David K. Heebner, who has informed the company of his intention to retire on December 31, 2014. Johnson will also continue in his role as president of General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics. In announcing the board's action, Phebe N. Novakovic, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "David Heebner has had an exemplary career at General Dynamics, having served in leadership positions in all of our defense businesses and at corporate headquarters. He has been an invaluable resource for the entire General Dynamics team and he will be greatly missed.

General Dynamics to Club Information Systems & Technology

General Dynamics announced today that, following a comprehensive review of the structure of its Information Systems and Technology business group, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems and General Dynamics C4 Systems will be combined to create a new business unit, General Dynamics Mission Systems. David K. Heebner, executive vice president of the Information Systems and Technology group for General Dynamics, said, "This restructuring will make us more efficient, cost-effective and responsive to our customers. Chris Marzilli, current president of General Dynamics C4 Systems, will lead the combined organization. The company's headquarters will be in Fairfax, Va. The restructuring will be effective January 2015.

General Dynamics Appoints Kirchmaier AIS President

General Dynamics announced that Thomas W. Kirchmaier has been elected a vice president of the corporation and appointed as president of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, reporting to David K. Heebner, executive vice president of the company's Information Systems and Technology group. Kirchmaier succeeds Lewis F. Von Thaer, who resigned in April. The appointment is effective immediately. Kirchmaier, has been the senior vice president and general manager of the Intelligence Solutions division of General Dynamics Information Technology since 2007, leading a worldwide organization with more than 4,600 professionals which provides high-technology solutions for the U.S. intelligence community, selected DoD commands and agencies, their coalition partners and NATO.

General Dynamics Announces Exec Appointments

General Dynamics announced that David K. Heebner, president of General Dynamics Land Systems, will succeed Michael W. Toner as executive vice president and group executive for the corporation's Marine Systems group when Toner retires on December 31, 2008. Mark C. Roualet, senior vice president and chief operating officer of General Dynamics Land Systems, will succeed Heebner on October 15, at which time Heebner will transfer to the corporation's headquarters for a transitional period. Heebner, 63, has been president of General Dynamics Land Systems since July 1, 2005. Previously he had been senior vice president - planning and development for General Dynamics, since March 2002. He had been vice president of strategic planning for General Dynamics since January 2000.
