Crowley Receives Heavy-Lift Deck Barge in Singapore

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s solutions group announced today that it has received the first two of potentially four, new heavy-lift, ballastable deck barges (HDBs) for use by clients in the Asia-Pacific region. These new barges, which will be contracted and managed from the company’s recently opened Singapore office, allow Crowley to better support regional customers in the oil and gas mining; Engineering, Construction and Procurement Management (ECPM); and Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) industries who are increasingly embarking on large-scale onshore and offshore projects. These new 400-foot-long, 120-foot-wide (122 meter x 36.5 meter) HDBs, named HDB 01 and HDB 02 are moored in Batam, Indonesia.

Crowley Solutions Raises Asia/Pacific Profile

Crowley's project management organization, 'solutions', will soon expand its presence in Asia Pacific market with new office and construction of up to four dedicated heavy-lift deck barges. Because of changing market conditions and a commitment to proactively support customer needs, Crowley Maritime Corp. ’s solutions group is expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific market by opening a new project management office in Singapore and building two new heavy-lift deck cargo barges for dedicated use in the region. The company also has an option for the construction of two additional barges.

Crowley's Newest Heavy-Lift Deck Barge, Portland

Crowley welcomed the newest 400-ft by 105-ft, heavy-lift deck barge to its fleet August 29 at a christening celebration at the Gunderson Marine shipyard in Portland, Ore. Micki Harrison, Crowley's regional human resources manager, did the honors, smashing a bottle of champagne on the side shell of the barge 455 7 and sending it hurtling into the Willamette River. The barge is the fourth heavy-lift deck barge christened by Crowley this year and the seventh in a series of heavy-lift deck barges slated to be built and put into service by 2013.

Crowley Launches Heavy-Lift Deck Barge 455-6

With Crowley's vessel construction boom in full swing, shipyard employees, Crowley personnel and distinguished guests paused this weekend to welcome the newest heavy-lift deck barge to the Crowley fleet - the 455-6 - sixth in a series of heavy-lift deck barges slated to be built and put into service by 2013. Against the backdrop of a Hawaiian-themed christening, Sandi Gresham, the wife of Bruce Gresham of Heerema Marine Contractors in Houston, Texas christened the barge with a bottle of champagne, launching it into the Willamette River at the Gunderson Marine shipyard in Portland.

Newest Crowley Heavy-Lift Deck Barge

Crowley's newest heavy-lift series deck barge 455-5 was christened and launched May 16 at Gunderson Marine Shipyard in Portland, Oregon - the latest in a bevy of new vessel deliveries for Crowley already this year. Christened by Mary Beth Davis, the wife of Rich Davis, the BP manager for the Liberty Rig, the 400 ftlong by 105 ft wide heavy-lift barge will be used to transport the world's largest land based drilling rig for Parker Drilling and BP. New Crowley Vessels Keep Coming

In the first of several vessel deliveries over the next few weeks, Crowley christened and launched its newest heavy-lift series deck barge, the 455-4, Saturday at Gunderson Marine Shipyard in Portland, Ore. The 400 ft long, 105 ft wide barge was christened by Carey Graham, wife of Parker Drilling Vice President Dennis Graham. The vessel's first assignment will be hauling a Parker Drilling Rig. Following that assignment, it will be turned over to a major energy company for work on the world's largest land-based rig in Alaska's North Slope at Satellite Drilling Island (SDI).
