Rules for Indian Naval Combat Ships Published
The “Rules and Regulations for Construction and Classification of Indian Naval Combatant Ships”, developed by Indian Register of Shipping were formally released by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral RK Dhowan, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC on June 9, 2015. The release took place in South Block, New Delhi, in the presence of Vice Admiral P Murugesan AVSM, VSM, Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral AV Subhedar AVSM, VSM, Chief of Materiel, Vice Admiral GS Pabby AVSM, VSM, Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition and other senior officers of the Indian Navy.

Labor’s warning over the future of Australian defense manufacturing is absolute hypocrisy, Defense Minister David Johnston said today. Speaking from Perth, Senator Johnston, said the so-called shipbuilding Valley of Death was created by Labor because rather than steering the country forward and making sound strategic decisions they spent six years bickering in the back seat over who should be driving. “It was the former government which cut Defense spending to its lowest levels since 1938," Senator Johnston said.
US Navy to Commission Littoral Combat Ship
The Navy is to commission the Freedom-variant littoral combat ship Fort Worth (LCS 3) in a ceremony at the Port of Galveston, Texas. Fort Worth, the third LCS delivered to the Navy and the second of the steel, semi-planing monohull Freedom variant, is designed to operate quickly in shallow water littoral environments to counter challenging threats in coastal regions, specifically mines, submarines and fast surface craft. The Fort Worth will maintain a forward presence and deter hostility while projecting power and maintaining sea control.
Navy Names LCS USS Fort Worth
Secretary of the Navy Donald Winter announced March 6 that the newest littoral combat ship (LCS) will be named USS Fort Worth. The announcement continues the practice of naming the agile LCS vessels after American midsized cities, small towns and communities. For more than 150 years, the citizens of Fort Worth have supported the Navy and all of the country’s men and women in uniform. Home to ranger outposts, training facilities, aviation depots, and defense manufacturing, Fort Worth has answered the call whenever our nation needed it. Designated LCS-3, the future USS Fort Worth is designed to defeat littoral threats and provide access and dominance in coastal waters for missions such as mine warfare, anti-submarine warfare and surface warfare.
NSWC Carderock Receives 2005 ManTech Achievement Award
Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock Division received the 2005 Defense Manufacturing Technology (ManTech) Achievement Award by the U.S. Office of Naval Research for extraordinary accomplishments on DD(X), the Navy’s next-generation multirole surface combatant. The 2005 ManTech Achievement Award specifically recognizes a project that addresses a design challenge using composite-to-steel joint development for DD(X). This exceptional ship features an all-composite deckhouse joined to a steel hull. “Carderock strives to deliver our customers with the right product to meet their needs and provide solutions,” said Carderock Division Commander Capt. Charles Behrle.
