Global Ship Lease Bags New TC with CMA CGM

Containership lessor Global Ship Lease, announced a new time charter with ANL, a wholly owned subsidiary of CMA CGM, for the 2003-built, 2,207 TEU containership GSL Keta (formerly Delmas Keta).The containership charter owner informed that the new charter, commencing on or around November 20, 2018, is for a period of between seven and 10 months (at charterer’s option) at a rate of $8,450 per day, up from $7,800 per day under the preceding charter.The company incorporated in the Marshall Islands has also exercised options to extend the existing charters of the 2002-built, 2,207 TEU Marie Delmas and Kumasi to CMA CGM through December 31, 2019, at a rate of $9,800 per day.

Global Ship Lease Bags New Time Charter with Maersk Line

Global Ship Lease announced a new time charter with Maersk Line for the 2004-built, 8,063 TEU containership OOCL Ningbo, which has been renamed GSL Ningbo, following her redelivery by OOCL on September 17, 2018.The containership charter owner said in a press release that the vessel will be chartered, commencing on or around September 21, 2018, for a period of between two and 12 months, with a subsequent option for an additional 12-month extension (at charterer’s option).During the first three months, the charter is at a rate of $11,500 per day; during months four to six, at $12,100 per day; during months seven to 12, at $12,400 per day…

40 years ago, on September 13th, 1978, Jacques R. Saadé launched the first maritime line between Marseilles and Beirut, with only one ship and 4 employees. The day marked the beginning of an extraordinary humane and entrepreneurial adventure, said a press release.According to the statement, 40 years later, CMA CGM has become a recognized world leader, with 34,000 employees and a presence in more than 160 countries. History: It is amid the Lebanese war that Jacques R. Saadé decided to settle in Marseilles to protect his family. Mr. Jacques R. Saade, founding president of the CMA CGM Group, died on June 24, 2018 at the age of 81, according to the company. Jacques R. Saadé dedicated his life to CMA CGM. An extraordinary visionary and entrepreneur, he made the group into a world leader in the maritime transport of containers, developing the company in more than 160 countries, while maintaining the family dimension with its values. GSL Extends TC with CMA CGM

Global Ship Lease, Inc., a containership charter owner,  has announced that it has signed time charter extensions with CMA CGM for two 2,207 TEU containerships, the 2002-built Julie Delmas and the 2003-built Delmas Keta. The vessels will be chartered for a period of 12 months (plus or minus 45 days at charterer’s option) at a fixed rate of $7,800 per vessel per day, commencing immediately upon expiration of the current time charters on September 11 and 20, 2017, respectively. GSL Extends CMA CGM Charters

Global Ship Lease (GSL) has extended the charters of the Marie Delmas and Kumasi, two 2,207-TEU vessels, for up to 3.25 years. Under the agreement, a revised rate of $13,000 per day will apply from August 1, 2016 until the charters' previous earliest expiry dates in September 2017, after which Global Ship Lease has three consecutive option periods, the first of 1.25 years and the second and third of one year each, through December 31, 2020 at a rate of $9,800 per day. In a continued effort to provide increased reliability and quality services in a challenging environment, CMA CGM will reorganize its services connecting India Middle East Gulf to East Africa strategic markets. Starting mid July 2016, NOURA EXPRESS and SWAHILI services new configuration will provide significant improvements: Positive developments for reefer cargo from Port Victoria direct to India and to Europe with a weekly frequency instead of fortnightly. Improved service reliability to Mogadishu from Mundra with direct service in 18 days instead of in transhipment, very fast transit time from Jebel Ali to Port Victoria in 18 days. NOURA EXPRESS service operated with 4 vessels of 2,200 TEU will stop Salalah call and add in its port coverage Mundra and Port Victoria.

CMA CGM Doubles Liverpool Feeder Capacity

CMA CGM has increased the capacity on its West Coast Feeder service via Liverpool to 2200 TEU from 900 TEU. M.V. Nicolas Delmas began calling at the port in April. The service begins in Antwerp and also calls at Greenock, Belfast, Dublin and Le Havre. Patrick Walters, Group Commercial Director at Peel Ports, said: “This is yet another encouraging step as we build up to the opening of Liverpool2 in the summer. The message about the cost, congestion and carbon emission benefits to cargo owners of shipping via Liverpool is really taking hold and the lines are responding to the market opportunity. CMA CGM Vice-Chairman on NOL Takeover

CMA CGM vice-chairman Rodolphe Saade said that his company was the first ones to initiate the discussions with NOL and Temasek and it made sense to them, that is why they carried on with the discussions, according to a report in The Straits Times. France's CMA CGM proposed a $3.38 billion cash buyout of Temasek Holdings-controlled NOL. "Of course they were talking to others... I don't know about the offers of the others, but what I will say is that we are the third-largest container carrier in the world,"  he added. CMA CGM , privately owned by the billionaire Saade family has, over the years, acquired and integrated brands such as government-owned Australian National Line, African specialist Delmas and Taiwan's Cheng Lie Navigation into its suite.

NOURA EXPRESS to Optimise its Service Between East Africa and Europe

Following its core strategy of continuous Africa Lines service upgrade, CMA CGM is pleased to present its latest significant improvement on its NOURA EXPRESS service connecting East Africa with Europe. Starting end of November 2015 with m/v MARIE DELMAS, NOURA EXPRESS fixed-day direct service from Kenya and Somalia will be upgraded with a weekly direct call at Salalah (Oman). First call is expected on December 12th, 2015. CMA CGM-led Consortium Win Box Terminal Bid

The consortium formed by CMA CGM, Bolloré and CHEC won the bid process initiated by the Cameroonian government Following the bidding procedure initiated by the Cameroonian government, the consortium formed by the French companies - CMA CGM and Bolloré - and the Chinese CHEC (China Harbour Engineering Company) won the 25 years concession. The Cameroonian government has chosen a French-Chinese consortium offering all the technical and financial guarantees. It is composed of CMA CGM - a worldwide leading shipping group and international port operator - Bolloré Africa Logistics - a reference logistics operator in Africa – and the Chinese company CHECH - one of the first civil engineering and building company in the world.

CMA CGM Upgrades Europe-Africa Service

Worldwide shipping firm the CMA CGM Group announced plans to upgrade its services joining Europe to Africa, altering its EURAF 1, EURAF 2 and EURAF 4 services with the goal of providing a more complete service offering to Africa, North Europe and the Mediterranean. The EURAF 1 service, that connects North European to West African markets, will add a call at London Containers Terminal – Tilbury each week. This new call will directly join the United Kingdom to Africa, and the service will provide competitive transit times allowing the export of banana Reefer containers from West Africa to England. The inaugural call of the rotation in Tilbury took place on August 10. Algeciras used to be called only once on the previous rotation.

CMA CGM Launches West African Service

The CMA CGM Group announced the launch of a new service, WAZZAN, joining Morocoo to North West Africa, and improving the container shipper’s Intra African coverage. The CMA CGM Group said the new service improves transit time between Mauritania, Senegal and Morocco by eight days, with previous transshipment calls being replaced by direct ones. In addition, a new direct call, from North West Africa and to Morocco, in Las Palmas is introduced. WAZZAN also develops CMA CGM’s reefer containers offer in Nouadhibou, Mauritania, allowing fish exports to intra African and worldwide markets.

CMA CGM to Develop New Terminal in Angola

CMA CGM Upgrades Asia - E.Africa Service

CMA CGM to improve its ASEA service between Asia and East Africa with the launching of ASEA Kenya and ASEA Tanzania. The CMA CGM Group’s Asia-East Africa (ASEA) service upgrade is scheduled to begin December 2014 with the launch of two new services. ASEA Kenya and ASEA Tanzania, will now accompany East African markets’ growth and replace the ASEA one single service, reducing transit times from Asia and improving reliability, the company said. The CMA CGM Group informed about the improvement of its ASAF service which will deploy 12 vessels of 5,700 containers (TEU) in direct service to West Africa starting May 9th thus becoming the first carrier with vessels of this capacity to call West Africa directly. With the 5, 700 containers (TEU) vessels calling West Africa in direct service, the CMA CGM Group confirms its ambition to reinforce its offer in the area and to support the economic development of the country. Customers Return for Rudder Ecospeed Applications

Over the last two months, the rudders of several types of vessels were given an Ecospeed protective coating at yards in China and Estonia. In total eight vessels, including some newbuilds, belonging to five different owners were treated. Four of these owners were returning customers. These owners had experienced firsthand the devastating effect of cavitation on rudders coated with a traditional coating system. For this reason they decided to use Ecospeed to ensure lasting protection against corrosion and erosion damage for the rudders of their vessels for the remainder of their service life.

OTAL Announces Appointments

OT Africa Line (OTAL), the specialist West African carrier, has appointed several key figures to its UK and European based operations. Romain Berard has been appointed OTAL's African Sales Manager. Based in London, Mr. Berard will work as part of the commercial sales team. Traveling extensively throughout the African Sub-Continent, he will promote OTAL's services and build on existing relationships with the line's African agency network. Mr. Berard will be the African agents' first point of contact regarding sales strategy. Romain joins OTAL from Delmas (a subsidiary of the Bolloré Group, OTAL's parent company) where he was the U.K. Northbound Manager. Diane Mussault joins OTAL as Northbound Sales Manager. Ms. Mussault will be responsible for all northbound sales and pricing.
