Vesconite: Fast Turnaround on Rudder Bearings

Photo: Vesconite: Fast Turnaround on Rudder Bearings

Workboats, ships and megayachts rely on large and extra-large rudder bearings. Having a vessel in dry dock for days or weeks while waiting for an oversized bearing is costly and frustrating, said Vesconite, whose machined Vesconite and Vesconite Superclad replacements—up to 10' in diameter with practically any wall thickness—are available for immediate shipment from a global network of dedicated dealers, and with fast turnaround times for custom sizes. Vesconite is an advanced…

Poseidon Meets Substantial Water Needs

Photo: FCI Watermakers

Large offshore vessels and drilling platforms have atypical water demands. Daily personal use often pales in comparison to shipboard and production operation needs. FCI Watermakers' high-output Poseidon+ produces 54–103m3/14,265–27,210 gallons of fresh, pure water per day. Engineered and manufactured in the U.S., the Poseidon+ is constructed to run non-stop, 24/7, and its components are chosen specifically for their reliability and resultant ease-of-mind, according FCI. FCI's Poseidon+ features a continuous-duty…

Watermaker Offers Installation Flexibility

Even on large vessels, machinery spaces tend to be cramped and have reduced accessibility. Knowing this, FCI Watermakers offers its high-efficiency Neptune+ Series in a convenient, modular configuration for a wide variety of flexible installations. It delivers 1,275-9,500 gallons of pure, fresh water every day. Refitting large framed or skid-mounted watermakers commonly requires cutting the deck—an enormous added expense. With FCI's Neptune+ Modular, individual components are easily brought into the engine room through a door or hatch.

Using the V4 Controller is simple with its intuitive menu. Accessed through a hi-res 7" or 4.3" HMI touch screen…

Paris MoU Publishes New Performance List

At its 49th meeting last month, the Paris MoU Committee approved the 2015 inspection results and adopted new performance lists for flags and Recognized Organizations. These lists will take effect from July 1, 2016. The White, Grey and Black (WGB) List presents the full spectrum, from quality flags to flags with a poor performance that are considered high or very high risk. It is based on the total number of inspections and detentions over a three-year rolling period for flags with at least 30 inspections in the period. On the White, Grey and Black list for 2015, a total number of 73 flags are listed: 43 on the White List, 19 on the Grey List and 11 on the Black list.

Vesconite Introduces Thicker Plate Stock

Photo: Vesconite

Whether a simple wear plate or machined into a complex, multi-faceted shape, many projects call for a material of substantial thickness. Vesconite and Vesconite Hilube plate stock is now available in sizes up to 4" thick. The plates are available up to 8" wide and 10' long. Because stock can be ordered close-to-size, machining time and costs are reduced. Vesconite and Vesconite Hilube are self-lubricating and have no stick-slip, so grease is unneeded. This is an important environmental consideration with increasing regulation, such as the EPA's Uniform National Discharge Standards.
