Water Needs Exceeded with FCI Watermakers Posideon+
FCI Watermakers' high-output Poseidon+ exceeds the average water needs of a commercial vessel. Designed to run 24/7 with low maintenance overhead and costs, it reliably produces 54–103m3/14,265–27,210 gallons of pure, fresh water every day. The Poseidon+ is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of a commercial marine application. Engineered and built in the U.S., it boasts a continuous-duty direct drive motor gearbox—there are no belts to maintain or replace—and a stainless steel high-pressure pump.
Vesconite Introduces Thicker Plate Stock
Whether a simple wear plate or machined into a complex, multi-faceted shape, many projects call for a material of substantial thickness. Vesconite and Vesconite Hilube plate stock is now available in sizes up to 4" thick. The plates are available up to 8" wide and 10' long. Because stock can be ordered close-to-size, machining time and costs are reduced. Vesconite and Vesconite Hilube are self-lubricating and have no stick-slip, so grease is unneeded. This is an important environmental consideration with increasing regulation, such as the EPA's Uniform National Discharge Standards.
FCI Watermakers Upgrades Its V4 Controller
Like any other modern shipboard system, watermakers rely on electronics for continued trouble-free operation, monitoring and automated self-maintenance. FCI Watermakers said it has enhanced its V4 Controller, upgrading the controller's firmware. The improvement increases screen response speed and provides an enhanced graphics-based visualization, or HMI (human machine interface), the manufacturer said. Using the V4 Controller is simple with its intuitive menu. Accessed through a hi-res 7" or 4.3" HMI touch screen…
Rexroth Controller Certified for Use on Ships
Rexroth’s controller is now certified for use on ships, offshore installations and in explosive atmospheres. Six European and American certification boards have approved the IndraControl XM22 control hardware for use on ships and offshore installations even under extreme ambient conditions. The certifications include the control hardware, extension modules for the expansion of the communication interfaces as well as application-specific modules of the fast IndraControl S20 I/O portfolio. IndraControl XM is the latest powerful controller with IP20 protection.
Watermaker Offers Installation Flexibility
Even on large vessels, machinery spaces tend to be cramped and have reduced accessibility. Knowing this, FCI Watermakers offers its high-efficiency Neptune+ Series in a convenient, modular configuration for a wide variety of flexible installations. It delivers 1,275-9,500 gallons of pure, fresh water every day. Refitting large framed or skid-mounted watermakers commonly requires cutting the deck—an enormous added expense. With FCI's Neptune+ Modular, individual components are easily brought into the engine room through a door or hatch.
Poseidon Meets Substantial Water Needs
Large offshore vessels and drilling platforms have atypical water demands. Daily personal use often pales in comparison to shipboard and production operation needs. FCI Watermakers' high-output Poseidon+ produces 54–103m3/14,265–27,210 gallons of fresh, pure water per day. Engineered and manufactured in the U.S., the Poseidon+ is constructed to run non-stop, 24/7, and its components are chosen specifically for their reliability and resultant ease-of-mind, according FCI. FCI's Poseidon+ features a continuous-duty…
FCI Debuts Compact, High Output Watermaker
Space is a precious commodity on any vessel, even a large one. Making its debut at the Miami International Boat Show, FCI Watermakers' new Atlas+APC is compact, yet produces 1,400-3,600 gallons of potable water per day and is fully automatic in its operation. Suited for the large yacht or commercial vessel, the watermaker is engineered and built for extended run times. The Atlas+APC is manufactured in the U.S. to commercial standards for reliability. Its robust stainless steel drive components are sized for extended run times and to quickly make ample amounts of water.

Polymer: An Alternative Bearing Material
Be it a mega yacht, workboat or ship, tremendous forces are put on warping rollers. Traditionally manufactured with bronze bearings that require regular maintenance and greasing, Vesconite is the modern polymer alternative that outclasses metallic materials, according to its manufacturer. Vesconite is self-lubricating and performs when dry or wet with seawater. Because it doesn't need grease or oil, it's environmentally friendly and complies with the EPA's Uniform National Discharge Standards. It provides low friction and zero stick-slip.
ROBA-DS Shaft Couplings Certified by DNV GL for Offshore
The compact and high performance ROBA-DS disk pack couplings by mayr power transmission have been certified by DNV GL. They ensure maximum possible operational and functional safety for users on the high seas. Whether in the drives of ship propellers, mobile platforms such as drilling platforms for oil and gas extraction, or also in tidal power plants – the areas of application for disk pack couplings in the maritime industry are diverse. For example, if the main drive of a ship propeller is an electric motor…

New Watermaker Tailored to O&G Operations
FCI Watermakers said its new Neptune+ OG is designed and built specifically for the severe conditions of offshore oil and gas operations, whether on a platform, tanker, carrier or PSV. The unit will make from 3,400 to 10,000 gallons of pure, fresh water a day, enough for production operations, equipment wash down, laboratory use, cooking and drinking, according to the manufacturer. The Neptune+ OG’s 316 stainless steel or 6061 aluminum alloy frame has built-in lifting eyes and forklift slots for easy placement.
Global Network Helps Ensure Fresh Water
In 60 countries across six continents, FCI Watermakers has the resources in place to keep its high-performance, continuous-duty reverse osmosis desalinization units in peak condition. Its worldwide network of authorized dealers and distributors are ready to assist professional mariners, no matter how distant the port of call. FCI Watermakers parts are nonproprietary. This is essential when considering a watermaker for a commercial boat or ship, the manufacturer said. Disposables, such as membranes, and replacements, like belts, are all standard sizes.
