NYK Bulk Carrier Completes Another Run on Biofuel

NYK conducts third successful biofuel trial on ship carrying Tata Steel cargoThe bulk carrier Frontier Sky, which is owned by NYK and operated by Tata NYK Shipping Pte. Ltd., conducted a trial use of biofuel to transport cargo provided by Tata Steel Limited, the major steel manufacturer in India. According to the company, this is the third successful trial use of biofuel by an NYK vessel.In this test voyage, the vessel was fueled with biofuel by Toyota Tsusho Petroleum Pte. Ltd. at the port of Singapore on November 14 and a test voyage was conducted on a route to the port of Dhamra, India.

Adani Buys 75% Stake in Krishnapatnam Port

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest private sector port operator, has agreed to buy a 75% stake in Krishnapatnam Port Co. Ltd (KPCL) at an enterprise value of INR 13,572 crore (US $1.9 billion). KPCL is located in the southern part of Andhra Pradesh, the state with the second largest coastline of in India, and is a multi-cargo facility which handled 54 MMT in FY19.This acquisition will accelerate APSEZ’s stride towards 400 MMT by 2025.Acquisition value of KPCL is approximately Rs.13,500 cr. The purchase consideration will be funded through internal accruals and existing cash balance.The credit metrics of APSEZ consolidated are not expected to change with this transaction. The net debt to EBIDTA of consolidated APSEZ Ltd.

Adani Ports Q4 profit up 41%

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), India’s largest private multi-port operator, reported a 41.45 percent surge in its consolidated net profit to INR 1,314.19 crore (USD 188.4million) for the quarter ended on March 31, 2019.However, its revenue fell 3.15 percent to INR 31 billion, said a stock exchange annoucement. Its coal volumes rose 30 percent year-on-year during the quarter, while the cargo volume increased 19 percent.The company also reported a record cargo throughput of 54 million metric tonnes in the three months ended March, according to the filing. Total, India's Adani Join Hands in LNG Sector

French energy major Total and Adani Group have signed an agreement to jointly develop multi energy offers to the Indian energy market. This cooperation includes Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Fuel Retail.The Adani Group is an Indian private conglomerate active in 50 countries and specialized in commodities trading, port infrastructures and logistics, as well as energy production and distribution.This strategic partnership between Total and Adani Group will allow to create a major footprint in LNG business and a new retail network of 1,500 service-stations.Total, the world’s second largest LNG private player, and Adani, the largest infrastructure conglomerate in India, will serve the fast growing gas demand of the Indian market.

India Allocate Funds for Development of Inland Waterways

The Government of India has got a budget allocation of  INR 228 crore (USD 35.1 mln) for the development of Inland waterways transport, which also includes INR 126 crore (USD 19.4 mln) for North Eastern Region, for the year 2017-18. The proposal for raising Extra Budgetary Resources (EBRs) of  INR 1,000 crore (USD 154 mln) through bonds was approved by Ministry of Finance in 2016-17. Out of  INR 1000 crore, INR 340.00 crore was raised during 2016-17. Remaining amount of INR 660.00 crore has been raised in the Financial Year 2017-18. Development of India's National Waterways

Under the National Waterways Act, 2016 of India, a total of 111 waterways have been declared as National Waterways (NWs). Out of these 111 NWs, NWs-1, 2 and 3 are operational and cargo and passenger vessels are moving on them, while for NW-4, the development works under Phase-I from Muktyala to Vijaywada started  in 2017. Further, for development of NW-5, preparation of DPR including Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the construction of weirs/ barrages with navigational locks and check dams between Pankapal and Paradip/ Dhamra (Phase-I) has been sanctioned. The Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP) has been commissioned with technical and financial assistance of the World Bank for the capacity augmentation of NW-1 (Ganga) from Haldia to Varanasi (1380 km).

India Organizes Workshop on Coastal Shipping and Inland Navigation

The Ministry of Shipping in India is organizing a workshop titled ‘Promoting Coastal Shipping and Inland Navigation in India’ in Bhubaneswar, Odisha state today. This is the second in a series of workshops the Ministry plans to hold over the next 6-8 months to create awareness about the Sagarmala programme amongst the stake holders and to engage with them. India’s 7500 kms of coastline and almost 14,000 kms of navigable rivers provide the perfect platform for the development of integrated water based transport system for domestic and EXIM freight as well as passenger transport. The promotion of coastal shipping and inland navigation will help to reduce the congestion on the road and rail network.

IWAI Signs MoUs Dredging Corporation

Development of Inland Water Transport is a priority of the Ministry of Shipping. After the declaration of 106 new National Waterways, in addition to the existing 5 National Waterways, under the National Waterways Act, 2016, the responsibilities of Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) have increased manifold. To ensure the development of the National Waterways in a time-bound and effective manner, the IWAI in the presence of Nitin Gadkari , Hon`ble Minister of Shipping and Road Transport & Highways has signed three separate Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dredging Corporation of India (DCI), Paradip Port Trust (PPT) and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) on Wednesday, 28th September 2016.

Adani Offers Dhamra LNG Stake to IOC, GAIL

Adani Group has offered 49% stake in its Rs. 5,000-crore ($750 million) Dhamra liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Odisha to the state-owned oil and gas companies GAIL India and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), according to a PTI report. The company has written to the state-owned firms offering them 49% stake in the 5 million tonnes a year liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal planned at Dhamra. The Dhamra LNG project, having a capacity of five million tonnes per year, would be operational in 2018-2019. IOC and GAIL have agreed to take equity in the Dhamra project, but have not decided the proportion the 49 percent stake would be divided. Both the companies reportedly bargained for a 50 percent stake in the project, but Adani wanted to retain the controlling portion in the project.

Adani Ports Eyeing Acquisitions

India’s biggest private port operator Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ)  is actively looking at acquisitions to complete its “string of pearls” ports strategy, reports Livemint. CEO Karan Adani is leading the drive, it adds. In India, Adani Port is looking to expand its presence in Maharashtra and West Bengal, according to the paper. In overseas markets, the company is scouting for opportunities in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the US and Europe, apart from the ports planned in Australia. “The overall objective is to make the group a trans-shipment port company,” one company executive has been quoted as saying. Some of the company’s key acquisitions so far include Vizhinjam port in Kerala and Dhamra port in Odisha.

Adani Start Developing Transshipment Port at Vizhinjam

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer and part of the Adani Group, today formally began development of India’s first ever and ambitious international transhipment project in Vizhinjam, Kerala. It shall be completed within the stipulated time period of four years. Adani in Pact with Kerala for Vizhinjam Port

The government of Kerala State in India and Gujarat-based Adani Group has signed the work contract agreement for development of the Rs 7,525-crore ($12 billion) Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport. On July 15, 2105, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) had received 'Letter of Award' from Fisheries & Ports (E) Department, government of Kerala, for development and operation/maintenance of the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Seaport Project on public-private partnership mode on Design, Build, and Finance Operate & Transfer (DBFOT) basis. The Group has started forming the team that will manage the port project at Vizhinjam and aims to have the port ready in 1,000 days with construction starting this November, the group chairman, Gautam Adani said.

APSEZ to Develop Vizhinjam Port

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, a global integrated player, has received “Letter of Award” for development of the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Seaport Project from Government of Kerala (GoK). Odisha’s Paradip Port on the Verge of Closure?

Odisha Cooperation and Excise Minister Damodar Rout today alleged that there has been a big conspiracy to curtail the business of Paradip port in Odisha. He said the Central government has knowingly hatched a conspiracy to make Odisha’s Paradip port defunct. Dr. Rout said the Port which bagged the Peacock award for handling the highest cargo traffic last year is now facing an alarming situation of reduced traffic handling. GAIL, IOC Join Dhamra LNG project

Gas Authority of India Limited (Gail) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to join Adani Group promoted Rs 5,000-crore ($805 mln)  Dhamra LNG Port (DPCL) project on the Odisha coast. The MoU comes within weeks of GAIL dropping plans to set up a floating LNG import terminal at Paradip. IOC too had in 2012 signed a MoU with Dhamra LNG Port Corp Ltd (DPCL) to develop a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the port. According to a Gail statement, the two public sector Maharatna companies have signed the MoU with Dhamra LNG Terminal Private Limited for setting up 5 million tonnes-ayear LNG import terminal.

APSEZ Ports Cargo Handled Up 28%

Adani Ports Q2 Net jumps 68%

Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd, India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, today announced financial results for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2014. The company reported a 67.7 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at $ 95.6 million for quarter ended September 30, helped by strong cargo growth volume. The company’s net profit in the corresponding period of the last fiscal stood at $ 56.97 million, APSEZ said in a filing to the BSE. Consolidated cargo handled by the company was 69.01 MMT in H1FY15, an increase of 26%, over corresponding to same period last year. Adani ports at Mundra handled 55.43 MMT cargo in H1FY15 thereby continuing its leadership as the largest commercial port in India.

Adani Ports PAT for Q1FY15 Increases by 36%

Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd, India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, today announced financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2014. Consolidated cargo handled by the company was 33.83 MMT in Q1FY15, an increase of 27%, over corresponding quarter last year. Adani ports at Mundra handled 28.86 MMT cargo in Q1FY15 thereby continuing its leadership as the largest commercial port in India. The Mundra port registered a 22% growth in Q1FY15 compared to 4% aggregate cargo growth at all major ports. Also, in case of containers, the Mundra port handled 681,000 TEUs in Q1FY15 as against 477,000 TEU’s in corresponding quarter last year resulting in a 43% growth as compared to growth of 4% aggregate growth in container volumes at all the major ports.

Mundra to Get Its Fourth Container Terminal

The CMA CGM Group announced that it has signed with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, an agreement for the development of a new common user Container Terminal at Mundra Port. This will be the fourth Container Terminal in Mundra and will be a 650 meters terminal along with 27 hectares of back area capable of handling 1.3 million TEUs annually. Following this announcement, the construction phase will be initiated immediately and completion will be in a record 24 months.

CMA CGM Group has announced that it has signed with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, an agreement for the development of a new common user Container Terminal at Mundra Port. This will be the 4th Container Terminal in Mundra and will be a 650 meters terminal along with 27 hectares of back area capable of handling 1.3 million TEUs annually. Following this announcement, the construction phase will be initiated immediately and completion will be in a record 24 months.
