Lewis Named Partner in MidAtlantic Engineering

MidAtlantic Engineering Partners (MidAtlantic), a civil, environmental, and marine engineering and surveying firm, is pleased to announce that W. Stuart Lewis, P.E. is a partner in the firm. Since joining MidAtlantic, he has successfully led the company’s Marine Services Division. Lewis joined MidAtlantic in February 2017, and since that time has developed and grown the Marine Services Division into a multi-disciplinary infrastructure group providing in-water and waterfront engineering and consulting services including dive services, structural design, permitting oversight, and inspections.

Petrobras Awards Long-Term Mero Deal to DOF's Skandi Salvador Vessel

Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF has won a contract with the Petrobras-led Libra consortium to provide a multi-purpose support vessel for work at the Mero offshore oil field in Brazil.The Libra Consortium is led by Petrobras - with a 40% interest - in partnership with Shell Brasil (20%) ; Total (20%), CNODC (10%) and CNOOC Limited (10%). The contract for DOF is for three years, and DOF will deploy its Skandi Salvador vessel that will operate 2 x WROV for 24 hours providing inspection, maintenance, and subsea commissioning services in water depths of up to 2,500m, including shallow dive services with Oceânica. Alison Nolan is General Manager and a fourth-generation owner of Boston Harbor Cruises (BHC), a company that moves more than 2.5 million passengers annually on its fleet of 60 vessels with more than 600 daily departures seven ports and more than 30 facilities. But the story of BHC and Alison Nolan transcends raw numbers; as the company and passenger vessel industry are in her DNA, more of a lifestyle than a career. She spoke with Maritime Reporter & Engineering News recently to address the rewards and challenges inherent in her position.

Norwegian Software Improves Efficiency for Offshore Divers

Norwegian software company Tero Marine developed a new solution that they say will reduce workload and help improve safety for offshore divers. “It has enabled us to reduce the time we spend on reporting by 75 percent, increasing our ability to be more cost efficient,” said Allan Strachan of diving contractors Harkand ISS. Safety was one of the key drivers when Tero Marine and Harkand ISS joined forces to develop a new IT solution for dive services. TM Dive is the first solution of its kind available to everyone in the offshore sector. The solution automates legally required reporting of dive system maintenance and certification. Marketing Manager Inghild Arnesen of Tero Marine explained that efficiency and safety tend to go hand in hand in the offshore industry.

RBG Completes Rigid-Hulled Inflation Boat for Chevron

RBG, provider of fabric maintenance and construction support to the global energy industry, has completed a contract worth approximately $616,100 for Acergy, for the provision of Rigid-Hulled Inflation Boat (RHIB) dive services and project support. RBG was commissioned to support the removal and replacement of one of the fairleads from the Chevron Upstream Europe (Chevron) owned Captain FPSO. Deployed from the Acergy-chartered vessel, Far Saga, combined activities included diving, installation of subsea rigging and ROV services.

BISSO Marine Attains ISO 9001:2008 Cert

BISSO Marine has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification of its Quality Management System. BISSO Marine received the ISO 9001:2008 certification after being assessed by ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. The certification is the first piece of an expanding certification program for the company. The BISSO Marine scope of certification includes dive services, heavy lift services and additional support activities for the river, inshore, offshore and international operations relating to construction, salvage, diving, heavy lift, survey and transportation. ISO 9001:2008 certification requires a company to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements…
