Damen Bags Jack-up Pontoon Contract

Damen Shipyards Sharjah (DSS) in the United Arab Emirates has won a contract to build a shallow draught, self-propelled Jack-up Pontoon 3526 for the UAE-based contractor Aqua Diving Services Ltd. Once delivered, it will be used primarily to deliver offshore support services, including the provision of accommodation facilities for personnel as well as operating as a work platform with crane facilities. Aqua Diving Services (ADS) has specifically designed the Jack-up for Middle East operations and is closely cooperating with Damen Shipyards Sharjah for the construction of the unit.

Fendercare Marine Receives BV Certification

Fendercare Marine’s diving services has announced that they have recently been awarded Bureau Veritas approval to carry out in-water surveys. “Receiving this approval confirms our commitment to safe and sustainable procedures” comment Bob Macmillan Fendercare’s Diving Services Director. “it is a vote of confidence in the best practices that we adopt and supports our intention to become a high quality service provider world wide”. Neptune Awarded Kitan Contract

Neptune has been awarded an air diving services contract by Technip Oceania Pty Ltd (“Technip”) for the Kitan disconnection project. The project is offshore in February and includes the provision of air diving services to assist with the disconnection and abandonment of risers, mooring chains and the umbilical from the Glas Dowr FPSO in the Joint Development Petroleum Area (JDPA). Neptune will perform the services from the Crest Hydra DP2 Dive Support Vessel (DSV).

Fugro Get Papua New Guinea Pipeline IRM Contract

Fugro-TSM, a division of Fugro Subsea Services, has been awarded the Kumul Marine Terminal Pipeline IRM (Inspection Repair Maintenance) contract by Oil Search Limited. The contract is for the provision of a DP2 DSV to support air diving services around the Kumul Marine Terminal in the Gulf of Papua, PNG. FTSM has mobilised the Rem Etive, complete with work class ROV, air diving spread and associated diver tooling to undertake the IRM works around the platform, oil export pipeline and CALM Buoy. Cal Dive International has been subcontracted to provide the air diving services.

Triton Acquire LOD Diving Assets, Support Vessel

Triton Diving acquires the diving assets of Louisiana Oilfield Divers (LOD). Triton Diving Services, an affiliate company of Grey Mountain Partners, acquires diving assets of LOD, including 'Premier Explorer', a 208-foot, 4-point vessel. The LOD acquisition strengthens Triton’s position as the dominant shallow water (0-300’) commercial diving contractor operating in the Gulf of Mexico. The additional capacity provided by this acquisition will allow it to better serve its customers. Beth Lesniak, Vice President of Grey Mountain, said, "With a 20-ton lift capacity, accommodations for 40 crew and a fully functioning machine shop, the Premier Explorer vessel is an excellent addition to Triton’s growing dive service vessel fleet.

Harkand Names Brown to Gulf of Mexico Management Team

Global inspection, repair, maintenance (IRM) and light construction company Harkand informs it has made a key appointment by securing Mike Brown as general manager of diving services in North America. A U.S. Navy veteran, Brown has considerable experience of commercial diving in the offshore oil and gas sector having held number of senior positions in a career spanning more than 35 years. He was most recently working with Chet Morrison Contractors as general manager of the offshore construction division.

Fendercare Marine IMCA Acredited

Following a recent audit, Fendercare Marine receives International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) accreditation. MCA is the international trade association representing offshore, marine and underwater engineering companies. It is a respected voice around the world promoting good practice, particularly in the areas of health, safety and environmental standards, quality and efficiency and technical standards. Fendercare Marine Diving Operations Director, Bob MacMillan said “IMCA Accreditation is very important to us. Fendercare Marine provides an extensive range of diving services and equipment for sale or hire. The company’s own diving teams are trained and experienced in a wide range of techniques and procedures and are also a member of the Association of Diving Contractors.

TORM Contracts Albwardy for Diving Services

Danish product tanker carrier TORM A/S and UAE-based Albwardy Marine Engineering (AME), an Albwardy-Damen JV, have signed a Service Level Agreement for diving services in the UAE region. The purpose is to further strengthen their relations and respective commercial reliability. The diving services will be handled from AME’s facilities in Fujairah and include full hull cleanings and propeller polishing. Allan Rasmussen, Head of TORM's Energy Efficiency & Innovation team, said, "This agreement signifies TORM's continued commitment to operating our vessels in the most efficient and safe manner.

Triton Diving Uses Hughes Maritime Broadband

Triton Diving Services, LLC is keeping its crews safer and delivering more proficient diving services to offshore customers thanks to the Hughes Maritime Broadband solution from Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES). Louisiana-based Triton provides a host of diving services to oil companies, derrick barges, government, and commercial vessels, and other businesses operating in the Gulf of Mexico. The company is outfitting its fleet of vessels with high-speed Internet, data, VoIP, and video capabilities to provide critical ship-to-shore and diver-to-ship communications. Triton has been active in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill cleanup.

Cal Dive Sells Off its GofM Surface Diving Fleet

Cal Dive International says it has sold its U.S. Gulf of Mexico shallow water surface diving fleet to a privately held company for cash of US$18.5-million and a 19.9% minority interest in the entity acquiring the assets. Cal Dive explains that the assets sold are comprised of eight surface diving vessels and miscellaneous inventory and equipment and it anticipates recording a gain during the second quarter as a result of the transaction. Net proceeds from the sale were used to repay a portion of the Cal Dive’s revolving credit facility.

Bisso Marine Acquires New SAT System

Bisso Marine, provider of energy and maritime support services, has acquired a 12-man portable Saturation Diving System. The new SAT System has a working depth of 1,000 feet (300 meters). Superior Offshore International Announces 1Q Results

Superior Offshore International, Inc. , a leading provider of subsea construction and commercial diving services on the outer continental shelf of the Gulf of Mexico, announced operating results for the quarter ended March 31, 2007. The Company reported total revenues of $54.3 million for the first quarter of 2007, compared with revenues of $49.4 million in the prior year's first quarter, an increase of 10 percent. Revenues for the first quarter of 2007 exceeded the estimate included in the Company's Prospectus relating to its initial public offering completed on April 25, 2007.

Tidewater Eyeing Superior Offshore Assets

The CEO of Tidewater Inc said his company is evaluating assets from Superior Offshore International which last week warned of limited liquidity, Reuters reported said the process was in the very early stages for Tidewater, which is the world's largest provider of offshore supply boats to the energy industry. On April 1, Superior Offshore, which provides subsea construction and commercial diving services, said it hired the investment back of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. to explore strategic alternatives, including a possible sale. DOF Subsea Awarded IRM Contract

DOF Subsea announced today it has been awarded a Letter of Award (LOA) with an unnamed major international oil company in the Asia Pacific region.   According to DOF Subsea, the LOA is for a seven-year IRM contract (plus three-year option), and the vessel Skandi Hawk is planned to be utilized under the contract. The work scope includes project management and engineering, ROV and diving services.   As part of a contract award, the vessel Skandi Hawk will be sold from DOF Rederi AS to DOF Subsea Rederi AS.

Fugro Extends Contract with McDermott

  Fugro has been awarded a three-year extension to its existing contracts with McDermott Middle East, Inc. The contract covers the provision of survey, positioning, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and diving services in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, India and Saudi Arabia. Engineering and construction company McDermott currently operates two major work barges in the region as well as a large number of other support vessels. The agreement continues a long and successful relationship that dates back more than 35 years, since Fugro and McDermott started operations in the Middle East.

Hallin Awarded $8M West Africa Project

Integrated subsea contractor Hallin Marine is mobilizing its vessel, Ullswater, after winning a saturation diving contract offshore Angola. The DP2 Ullswater, equipped with saturation and air diving systems, a Hallin C-ROV and all personnel, will repair a 16-inch pipeline and carry out inspections on various platforms. Operatec, an Angolan company, and Superior Energy Services have been performing diving services under a long term maintenance contract since mid 2009. The Ullswater saturation diving project is an extension of this ongoing maintenance contract.

Dive Support Vessel Delivered to Stapem Offshore

The first of two new 18-meter catamaran dive support vessels built for Paris-based Stapem Offshore has been delivered by South African shipbuilder Legacy Marine Group. The Marshal Island-flagged vessel, Stapem Beluga, will operate in the coastal waters of Angola in support of oil and gas exploration and production. The vessel, designed by Incat Crowther, has been customized to suit Stapem’s specific operational requirements. The aft exterior deck utilizes available space by combining deck lockers and racks for diving equipment storage with a covered dive prepping area.

Walney 2 Success for Fendercare Marine Diving

Fendercare Marine’s recently established diving division has picked up it’s first major contract, extending the group’s profile within the offshore renewables sector. Fendercare Marine was contracted by the Dutch-based Visser & Smit Marine Contracting (VSMC) for a multi-million Euro sum, to insert a messenger cable into each of 51 wind turbines for Dong’s Walney 2 development off the Barrow-in-Furness coast. The work has taken place over 85 days of the summer months and has involved the supply of a DPII vessel, a fitted Ampelmann personnel transfer system  nd ROVs to carry out the work.

The Return of U.S. Underwater Services
