DMC Inks Deal to Equip Chilean Navy Ships

Wärtsilä has awarded Damen Marine Components (DMC) a contract to provide steering equipment to two Landing Platform Docks (LPD) of the Chilean Navy being built at ASMAR. C&C Marine to Build Four Damen Multi Cat Workboats

Damen Repairs P&O Ferries’ Pride of Canterbury

Late last year, a team of Damen group subsidiaries completed a challenging project to replace one of the twin rudder stocks on P&O Ferries’ Pride of Canterbury. Royal IHC Receives Dredger Order from Nigeria

Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC has sold a Beaver 65 DDSP alongside a DMC 1450 workboat, booster station and discharge piping to Oretol Nigeria Ltd. The cutter suction dredger (CSD) and additional equipment will be delivered within four months, and deployed on various sand excavation and land reclamation projects, with a view to developing real estate in the Lagos Lagoon. IHC Delivers New Dredge to Cameroon's Port of Douala

Royal IHC said it handed over the 3,000m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Mont Mandara to Cameroon’s Port Authority of Douala (PAD) on August 20. The delivery completes the PAD fleet, following its acquisition of an IHC Beaver 50 cutter suction dredger and a DMC workboat in 2019.The new TSHD is an IHC Easydredge from IHC’s standardized range of dredging vessels suited for common maintenance and land reclamation projects. The Mont Mandara offers flexibility to PAD as it can be customized to adapt to its dedicated working environment.

DMC Delivers Nozzles for Super Trawler Refit

Damen Marine Components said it has delivered two large 19A nozzles to Parlevliet & Van der Plas for its fishing trawler, the Margiris. Polarcus Nadia on the Move after Long Layup

Polarcus' seismic vessel Polarcus Nadia is on the move, after more than five years in lay-up in the Netherlands, according to information released Friday by Dutch Marine Contractors.The Polarcus Nadia, delivered in 2010, was cold stacked by Polarcus in early 2015 during the previous oil price downturn, in a move to cut operating costs, with little hope it would be reactivated soon. The former CEO Rod Starr said at the time that it cost around $1.6 million per year to cold-stack the vessel, and, up to $40 million to reactivate it.The Polarcus Nadia has been in layup ever since, with limited info on the vessel since the cold-stacking.Dutch Marine Contractors on Friday said: "After a few years of layup, MV Polarcus Nadia departed this morning from Amsterdam to Norway.

Douala Port Authority Orders IHC Dredger

Cameroon’s Port Authority of Douala (PAD) has acquired high-tech equipment from Royal IHC to support its dredging activities, an order that builds on the excellent partnership between both organizations.As part of measures to autonomously manage its dredging activities, the Management of the PAD acquired an IHC Beaver 50 cutter suction dredger and a Delta Multi Craft (DMC) workboat, which were both delivered in 2019. This first order will soon be completed by an IHC Easydredge trailing suction hopper dredger with a 3,000-cubic-meter hopper capacity.

Royal IHC Awarded Dredger Contracts

Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC said Thursday it has signed three contracts with the Jordan-based Arab Potash Company (APC) to deliver two cutter suction dredgers (CSDs) and implement a new maintenance agreement. The first contract comprises the delivery of a custom-built CSD, the second is a three-year maintenance contract for the IHC dredgers Jarash and Mutah, and the third involves another dredger, which will be a copy of Jarash.The newly built CSD Alkaramah is based on a modified, innovative IHC Beaver 65 DDSP with three different working depth ranges: up to 18, 25 and 32 metres.

DMC Delivers Rudders to Chinese Yard

Netherlands-based Damen Marine Components (DMC), which specializes in the design and production of rudders, has completed the supply of nine Van der Velden ATLANTIC rudders to COSCO Guangdong Shipyard over a two-and-a-half-year period.The rudders have been installed on nine 1,750 TEU Feeder Container Vessels built for a UK-headquartered ship owning and management company, said DMC.The supply took place in three stages with a first contract signed by DMC and COSCO Guangdong in March 2017 for the immediate supply of three ATLANTIC rudders, plus an option on a further three. In June 2017 those options were exercised and a further three contracted by the shipyard, taking the total to nine.

DMC Steering System for Sunstone

Netherlands-based Damen Marine Components (DMC) will supply the rudders and steering gear for SunStone Ships' fifth Infinity-class polar expedition cruise ship.The 200-passenger vessel will be built by China Merchants Heavy Industries to an Ulstein design. DMC Chosen for SunStone’s Fifth Infinity-Class Vessel

Damen Marine Components (DMC) received acontract to supply the rudders and steering gear for the fifth Infinity-class vessel to be built for SunStone Ships by China Merchants Heavy Industries to an Ulstein design. DMC Wins Suppy Contract From Cape Arkona

Damen Marine Components (DMC), the manufacturer of rudder and steering systems, nozzles, winches and controls, said that it has won a contract to supply a steering system for the trawler Cape Arkona.Currently in build at the Baatbygg yard at Måløy in western Norway for Austral Fisheries, the 1,150m³ vessel is capable of alternating between operating as a freezer trawler, long liner and a potter vessel, all within the period of a single trip.According to a press note, DMC will be supplying the 70-metre vessel with a Van der Velden TIMON flap rudder with heal bearing and a Van der Velden COMMANDER rotary vane steering gear.The slim-profile TIMON flap rudder is a popular and proven system which delivers superior maneuvering and course-keeping performance compared to conventional rudders.

Grandweld Shipyards Announces Solid 2018

UAE-based Grandweld Shipyards said that it has closed a number of deals, as part of its landmark milestones achieved during 2018.Grandweld’s latest achievement was highlighted with the signing of two new contracts; One with Wesal Shipping, and the second with Mars Marine Services, said a press release from the company. DCM Completes Rudder, Steering Work for Icebreaker

In an important milestone in the build of the Antarctic Supply Research Vessel (ASRV) Nuyina for the Australian government’s Antarctic Division, Damen Marine Components (DMC) has completed the supply and installation of a number of critical systems. These had to be fabricated to exceptionally high standards to cope with the ice that the vessel will encounter in the Southern Ocean. DMC Wins First Order in Turkey

Damen Marine Components (DMC) signed its first order with a Turkish Shipyard. The client is TERSAN Tersanecilik San. Tic. Aṣ., based at Yalova City on the Sea of Marmara, and the equipment will be installed on a 108-meter Factory Freezer Trawler vessel. Designed by Skipsteknisk AS, design number STL191L, it is currently in build for the Russian fishing fleet operator JSC PT Okeanrybflot.The order is for a single, customised Barke rudder with a surface area of 16 m² and a Commander rotary vane steering gear that delivers a torque of up to 430 kNm.

Damen makes Winch Range Available to All

Damen Marine Components (DMC) designs and manufactures marine winches for a wide range of applications, but until now they have been available only on Damen-built or maintained vessels. That changes as DMC is making its winches available to third-party shipyards and equipment suppliers.Damen Marine Components has been producing winches on a commercial scale since 2010, and Damen Winch Technology was formed in 2015, bringing on board additional engineers and creating a dedicated unit with R&D, design & engineering, production and after-sales support.

DP World Gross Volume Up 4.8% for 1H 2018

Dubai-based port and terminal operator DP World said that its gross volumes rose 4.8 percent to USD 35.6 billion s for the six months to 30 June 2018,  despite uncertainties in the container market. New Premises for Damen Marine Components

Damen Marine Components Netherlands (DMC NL) has laid the first foundations for its new premises in Hardinxveld, the Netherlands. Construction of new buildings reflect growth potential following company merger. With capacity for approximately 80 people, the new buildings will be used for both offices and production purposes. With construction of the new buildings beginning as the first foundation pile was driven into the ground on the site of DMC former head office, the company’s motivations to build new premises were twofold. The first reason was to provide one working space for the greater number of personnel resulting from the merger of DMC and Van der Velden Marine Systems (VDVMS) earlier this year.

New Beam Trawler Delivered

Dutch shipbuilder Damen has delivered the first new beam trawler to take to the North Sea in 12 years.Over the last 10 months, Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam (Maaskant) has outfitted the 41-meter hull from stock. The vessel, designated UK 46, is for Hakvoort Brothers, based in Urk, the Netherlands. According to the builder, a key feature of the vessel is the installation of twin Optima nozzles manufactured by Damen Marine Components (DMC). This is the first time that Maaskant has installed these in a fishing boat.The nozzles are Damen Optima L/D 0.4 models with a diameter of 3.63 meters.
