Bahia State Governor Authorizes Construction For Crowley Logistics

Managed Ford Amazon Marine Terminal in Bahia, Brazil for construction of a new marine terminal dedicated to the Ford Amazon manufacturing complex in Bahia, Brazil. Crowley Logistics, Inc. will manage all of the operational activities at the new facility, which Ford’s only private port facility in the world. The terminal will primarily handle Ford’s inbound vehicles to Brazil and outbound vehicles assembled at Ford’s Amazon plant. Crowley will also assist Ford in overseeing the port development during the construction phase to ensure that the facility meets both Crowley and Ford’s high quality standards. Crowley’s scope of services will include operations design, planning and implementation, as well as terminal operations management.

Gas-Producing Nations Take First Step Toward OPEC-Style Group

The world's biggest gas producers agreed to set up a committee to look into pricing, in what could be the first step toward setting up an OPEC-style group to control supplies. Energy ministers from Russia, Iran and Qatar, holders of the world's biggest gas reserves, and envoys from 10 other nations, met today in Doha, the capital of Qatar, for the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. They agreed to set up a working committee that will examine the relationship between producers and consumers as well as pricing. The European Union, which relies on Russia for a quarter of its gas, has warned that a group modeled on the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries may spur consumers to switch to alternative sources of energy.

As it glided into port, Holland America Line’s newest cruise ship, the 1,848 passenger Noordam, made history when it arrived at the Caribbean’s newest port facility – the Grand Turk Cruise Center, British West Indies – on its inaugural call. After departing from New York City on Wednesday, the Noordam made a direct sailing for Grand Turk, marking the official opening of the new state-of-the-art, multi-million-dollar facility.
