St Johns Bar Pilots Order New Launch from Gladding-Hearn

Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation, announced it has received an order from the St. Johns Bar Pilots for a new high-speed launch.The newbuild, to be based on the Somerset, Mass. shipbuilder's 40-foot Resilient Class pilot boat introduced in 2005, is scheduled to be delivered to the Florida-based pilots in mid-2024—the pilots’ fourth Gladding-Hearn pilot boat since 1962.Designed by Ray Hunt Design, the all-aluminum launch measures 35 feet overall. It has a 13-foot beam, including the foam collar, and a 3-foot draft.

Dometic Electric Power Steering Earns RINA Certification

Dometic’s Vancouver facility has received RINA Approval and Certification for its Optimus 5000 Electronic Power Steering System (EPS), opening the door for growth in yachting and commercial marine markets.The Dometic Optimus 5000 EPS is engineered for inboard vessels ranging from 40 to 100-plus feet in length. Its manufacturer believes the Type Approval from the Italian classification group on the Optimus 5000 EPS for both pleasure and commercial vessels under 500 metric tons will positively impact on its marine business globally.

WWII Museum’s PT-305 Sails Again

Commercial workboat philanthropy on display on PT-305: WWII Museum’s PT-305 sails again after a far reaching donor-funded restoration. In March, the National WWII Museum in New Orleans launched its reconstructed PT-305, built locally by Higgins Industries in 1943. The museum acquired the boat known as the USS Sudden Jerk in 2007, restoration began in 2009, and it now sails Lake Pontchartrain as an interactive exhibit. PT-305, with a fifteen-man crew, belonged to a 12-ship squadron operating in the Mediterranean from 1944 until the war ended in 1945.

Dometic Promotes Trigg

Dometic Group promoted Ned Trigg to Executive Vice President of Dometic’s Marine division. In his new role, Trigg will be the business leader for the Marine OEM and Aftermarket divisions for the Americas region. Dometic to Launch Watermaker at IBEX

Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, a global provider of leisure products for the marine, truck, RV and automotive markets, announced it will showcase its new XTC-ZTC Double-Pass Watermaker at the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), Sept. 15-17 in Louisville, Ky. According to Dometic , the XTC-ZTC is the first and only fully automatic, integrated double-pass reverse-osmosis system that can purify every source of yacht water, including seawater, brackish water, lake water, river water or dockside water. It is also the first and only watermaker with mechanical override for full redundancy and peace of mind.

Dometic Sea XChange Watermaker Launched

Dometic Marine launched the Dometic Sea Xchange Sea Water Reverse Osmosis system following the confirmation of an exclusive worldwide marketing agreement with Spot Zero Reverse Osmosis Inc. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., USA. Under this agreement, Dometic said it will market and sell Spot Zero watermakers as it expands its presence in the fresh water and sea water reverse osmosis systems marketplace. Using a conventional reverse osmosis process to convert sea water into potable (drinking) water, the Dometic Sea Xchange is suited for a range of commercial and workboat applications.

Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, a global provider of leisure products for the marine, recreational vehicle, commercial and passenger vehicle markets, announced that it has appointed Joe Pinto as National Account Manager - Reverse Osmosis Systems. In his new role, Pinto will lead Dometic’s Aftermarket and OEM sales teams as they expand the company’s presence in the fresh water and sea water reverse osmosis systems marketplace. Dometic Group recently confirmed five key appointments in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) territory following the restructuring of Dometic Group’s global business operations in early 2013. Dometic noted that the appointments have been made to strengthen the EMEA business moving into 2014 as the company is experiencing an increasing demand for its products and installations within the commercial and workboat sector. Dometic to offer Livos machinery ventilation equipment to its yacht and workboat customers,  providing them with a single source for their air conditioning and ventilation needs. Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, a global provider of leisure products for the RV, Marine and CPV (Commercial and Passenger Vehicle) markets, today announced that it has entered a strategic partnership with Livos Technologies Inc., a provider of engine room ventilation equipment and systems for the commercial and pleasure boat markets. Formerly President of Dometic Marine, Frank Marciano has been appointed President of Dometic Americas for all divisions after Dometic Group announced a global reorganization and restructuring. The new management and business structure was enacted by the company’s global CEO, Roger Johansson, and was effective from February 1. Marciano, who is based at the Marine headquarters in Pompano Beach, Florida, is a 22-year employee of Dometic. The marine business continues to be an important part of his new role.

Dometic Marine Secures Skipper HVAC Order

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) specialist Dometic Marine will supply its Cruisair equipment aboard a 105ft Motoryacht Class which has been built by houseboat and custom yacht builder, Skipper Manufacturing LLC. As part of the new agreement Dometic will deliver custom-built chilled water equipment to provide the yacht with 480,000 BTU (British thermal unit) or 40 tons of capacity. “As a private charter vessel, the ‘Lady of the Lake’ will be used to entertain up to 150 guests from her home port at Riverside Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The provision of reliable air conditioning aboard is essential to ensure the comfort of passengers and crew as well as satisfy owner expectations,” comments Bernie Clements, Purchasing Manager Skipper Manufacturing.
