Blakeley BoatWorks Delivers Towboat to Plimsoll Marine

In December 2021 Blakeley BoatWorks completed construction of Green Wave, a fully compliant, state-of-the-art Subchapter M inland push boat. Owned by Plimsoll Marine, the vessel will operate within the Cooper Consolidated fleeting footprint, the largest fleeting footprint on the Lower Mississippi River. All three companies are part of the Cooper Group of Companies.Designed by Farrell and Norton and built by Blakeley BoatWorks over the course of a year, the 70-foot long, 28-foot wide, 1,600 horsepower vessel is fully compliant with the latest U.S.

C&C Delivers New Towboat to Maritime Partners

Belle Chasse, La. shipyard C&C Marine and Repair, LLC said it has delivered Ned Brooks, the fourth in series of 15 towboats for Metairie, La.-based Maritime Partners, LLC.The 2,600-horsepowered, 84- by 34-foot towboat was designed by Entech Design, LLC, based in Kenner, La., with the 3D modeling and production drawings done by C&C Marine and Repair’s in-house engineering department. The design includes two Cummins QSK38-M1 main engines, provided by Cummins Mid-South, that are paired to two Reintjes WAF 665 reduction gears, provided by Karl Senner, LLC.

Blakeley BoatWorks Delivers Towboat to CMT

The U.S.’ first linehaul towing vessel powered by Tier 4 Caterpillar high-speed engines with selective catalytic reduction( SCR) was built by Blakeley BoatWorks (BBW) and is now operated by Cooper Marine and Timberlands (CMT).In March 2021, Blakeley BoatWorks completed construction of M/V Gretchen V. Cooper, a state-of-the-art, Tier-4 inland linehaul tow boat. This 3,400-horsepower vessel is 110-feet long, 33-feet wide, and expands CMT’s fleet to 20 vessels.Currently, Tier-4 diesel engine standards are the strictest U.S.

WWII Museum’s PT-305 Sails Again

Commercial workboat philanthropy on display on PT-305: WWII Museum’s PT-305 sails again after a far reaching donor-funded restoration. In March, the National WWII Museum in New Orleans launched its reconstructed PT-305, built locally by Higgins Industries in 1943. The museum acquired the boat known as the USS Sudden Jerk in 2007, restoration began in 2009, and it now sails Lake Pontchartrain as an interactive exhibit. PT-305, with a fifteen-man crew, belonged to a 12-ship squadron operating in the Mediterranean from 1944 until the war ended in 1945.

Delta "T" Plays Role in Historic PT-305 Restoration

After a seven-decade odyssey, PT-305 is back home in New Orleans, Louisiana, preparing to serve her country again. Built by Higgins Industries in 1943 for the U.S. Navy, this 78' patrol torpedo vessel sank three enemy craft in the World War II Mediterranean Theater of Operations. PT-305 is now in the final stages of refurbishment at the National WWII Museum's John E. Kushner Restoration Pavilion. Engine room ventilation expert Delta "T" Systems plays a role in this historical vessel's return to service through its donation of 110V fans and DC blowers for PT-305.

Palfinger Sells Two Cranes to Kirby

With the support of Donovan Marine, Palfinger Marine crane dealer for the Gulf of Mexico, two Palfinger PK 11001 MC foldable knuckle cranes were delivered to Signal International in Orange, Texas to be installed on two newly constructed 126ft ATB tugs for Kirby Ocean Transport Company. The cranes will be used for launching a small work skiff into the water and general maintenance as well as store stores handling. The tugs are designed to couple with coal barges for transporting coal from Louisiana to a power station in Florida.

WESMAR Displaying their Biggest at WorkBoat Show

WESMAR will be displaying the largest bow thruster they produce at the annual International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans December 1-3, and Bob Sentz, Vice President of WESMAR’s Mechanical Division, said it is the largest system his division has ever sent to a trade show. “This stainless steel 48-inch, 4-blade NiBrAl prop counter-rotating bow thruster system will be a head turner for many reasons,” said Sentz. “It is the largest in WESMAR’s commercial line and brings more power, less noise and less vibration than competitive units.

Delta T Systems, Gulf Coast Tours

Taking the show on the road, Delta T Systems' new Demo Trailer relieves the burden of attending trade shows and seminars in order to learn about advances in marine engine room technology. The company began the year with a 1,000 mile demonstration tour along the Gulf Coast. The second tour will start in April and leave from New Orleans, Louisiana. Delta T Signs on New Distributor

As demand in the United States continues to grow for Delta T Systems' ventilation solutions, the company has brought on Donovan Marine as its latest North American distributor. "We intend to market Delta T Systems' complete line of products," said Donovan Marine VP of commercial sales Steve Garver. Headquartered in Harrahan, Louisiana, Donovan Marine has 14 warehouse locations spread throughout the United States. With a history that dates back to 1909, the wholesale distributor specializes in both the recreational and commercial marine markets. Established in 1992, Delta T Systems designs and manufactures custom ventilation systems for the commercial, military and pleasure boat markets.
