DP World Australia Back Online After Cyber Incident

Australia Says DP World Cyber Incident 'Serious'

DP World Set to Acquire Topaz Energy

The world’s largest port operator DP World is in advanced discussions to acquire Topaz Energy & Marine, marking the Dubai-based company's first potential foray into the oil and gas industry.Britain’s Sky News, citing sources, earlier reported that a $1.3 billion deal for DP World to take over Topaz could be announced as early as Monday. Dubai Port Raises Stake in Australian Port

Dubai-based port operator DP World says it has acquired additional assets in DP World Australia (DPWA), giving the firm a majority stake in its Australian terminals.The percentage of what has been acquired from Gateway Infrastructure Investments and other financial investors is still being finalized and subject to regulatory approval. However, it valued DPWA at an enterprise value of approximately AU$1.4 billion (US$ 997 million).Following the closure of the transaction, DP World Australia will become a consolidated entity within the DP World Group and is expected to be earnings neutral in the first full year of ownership. DP World Australia announced the signing of a long-term partnership extension regarding service of CMA CGM Group vessels by DP World Australia at its terminals in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle. Kalmar Signs Deal with DP World Australia

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, continues its long-term cooperation with DP World Australia, the country's largest stevedore, with orders of 38 new machines for its new logistics arm, DP World Logistics Australia. The orders include 7 Kalmar reachstackers, 11 loaded and 20 empty container handlers. 22 units have successfully been delivered to DP World Logistics Australia's Botany Intermodal terminal with the remaining equipment to be delivered by September 2017. The order was booked into Cargotec's 2017 first quarter intake. The new machines add to DP World Australia's existing fleet of Kalmar rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs), straddle carriers and terminal tractors and will serve operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle and DP World Australia's semi-automated terminal in Brisbane.

Kalmar Straddle Carriers for DP World's Terminal, Melbourne

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received orders for 10 diesel-electric straddle carriers from DP World for their West Swanson Terminal in Melbourne, Australia. One order for five units was booked in Cargotec's 2015 fourth quarter order intake and the other five units were booked in 2016 first quarter order intake. The machines will be delivered during the third quarter of 2016. DP World Melbourne Terminal Gears for Volume growth

DP World Australia's new 30,000 sqm Melbourne terminal expansion, at the former Bentley Chemplax site, was commissioned on Tuesday (15 March 2016), signalling the start of a suite of capital investment projects in 2016-17. The completion of the Bentley Chemplax site delivers an additional 450 ground slots or 100,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) of container capacity per annum, increasing the capacity of the terminal to 1.4m TEU per annum. The development is the terminal’s largest expansion project since 2010, and represents the first in a series of new investments in DP World Australia’s hardstand infrastructure, yard equipment and wharf assets. ICT for Port of Burnie

Australia’s largest stevedore DP World Australia today confirmed that it had entered into an exclusive agreement with the Tasmanian Ports Corporation, Tasports, under which the two parties will work together to provide an international container terminal at the Port of Burnie in North West Tasmania. Brian Gillespie, Chief Corporate Development Officer at DP World Australia, said: “We believe that the time is right to develop such a facility in Tasmania. “The proposed changes in the Coastal Shipping Act 2015 will make it attractive for international container shipping lines to call at Tasmania if suitable facilities exist,” Mr Gillespie said.

DP World Sings Melbourne Port Lease Deal

DP World and the Port of Melbourne Corporation have reached an agreement on a new 50-year lease, ending months of negotiation over rental increases at Australia’s biggest port. The Port of Melbourne will forego tens of millions of dollars in annual revenue after abandoning a 750 per cent rent increase for DP World Australia and accepting price rises a tiny fraction of that amount. DP World Australia, in which the Dubai-based ports operator has a 25 per cent stake, will run the West Swanson Terminal in the Port of Melbourne up to 2065, with known fixed increments over 13 years, DP World Australia and Port of Melbourne said. Two ASC Kalmar Cranes for DP World Brisbane

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received an order from DP World Australia to deliver two new Kalmar automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) for its semi-automated terminal in Brisbane. The cranes will join a fleet of 14 Kalmar ASCs at Fisherman Islands Terminal, bringing the number of modules servicing container trade to eight and increasing capacity by 14 percent to 720,000 TEU. The new ASCs will be delivered fully erected in 2016 and they are expected to be commissioned in January 2017. DP World Australia's Managing Director and CEO, Paul Scurrah, said the investment at the Port of Brisbane is a strong signal of the company's commitment to Queensland trade. "Productivity at our Fisherman Islands Terminal has grown from strength to strength," Mr Scurrah said.

Massive Rent Hike at Port of Melbourne

The Port of Melbourne Corporation has told DP World Australia that it wants to increase rent at the terminal by up by 800 per cent of the current amount, reports local media. It also comes as the Victorian government prepares the Port of Melbourne for sale. The move by the Victorian Government has sparked warnings of job cuts as well as economic damage to the state. The trucking industry fears it may have to carry much of the weight of the possible hefty rent hike. The port currently charges about $40 million dollars a year in rent to DP World and Asciano. It is understood that DP World has previously paid about $16 per square metre and the increase will take it to $120 per square metre.

DP World Australia Expedites Navis N4 Upgrades

Navis, the global technology standard for managing the movement of cargo through terminals, has announced that DP World Australia has reached another major milestone. New Straddle Carriers for DP World Melbourne Terminal

DP World has announced  a significant boost to DP World Melbourne's capabilities with the first eight of 16 new energy-efficient straddle carriers starting operations. The new equipment with its greater capacity to handle containers will also help reduce DP World‟s environmental footprint as well as improve efficiency and productivity at Australia‟s largest container port. A second batch of eight straddle carriers is due for delivery later this year, bringing DP World Melbourne‟s fleet to 22 new straddle carriers.
