DP World and Masdar Team Up to Power Port Operations with Renewables

DP World Buys North American Terminal

Dubai-based port operator DP World announced it has completed the acquisition of Fraser Surrey Docks in Canada from Macquarie Infrastructure Partners (MIP) alongside its partner Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ).The enabler of global trade said in a press release that said the acquisition complements its footprint in Canada, which also includes terminal operations in Vancouver, Nanaimo, Prince Rupert and St John’s, without disclosing the value of the purchase.The integrated coast-to-coast platform provides customers with bulk, breakbulk and general cargo services.DP World's global strategy is to become a trade enabler and solutions provider as the company looks to participate across a wider part of the supply chain.

DP World Acquires Ukraine's TIS Terminal

Marine cargo handling company DP World has agreed to acquire a majority 51% stake in TIS Container Terminal in the Port of Yuzhny, Ukraine, subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions, including regulatory approval."Bringing the TIS Container Terminal into DP World's global network of ports, economic zones, warehousing, and inland logistics solutions will strengthen its position as the market-leading terminal of Ukraine," said a press release from the global supply chain solutions company.The latest acquisition also complements the existing operations of DP World's P&O Maritime Services business through a joint venture with TIS Group…

Kalmar, DP World Southampton Pact for Hybrid Straddle Carriers

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract with DP World Southampton to supply 12 hybrid straddle carriers for use at their container terminal, said a press release.The Southampton agreement also includes maintenance and operator training as well as six months of on-site maintenance support. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 third quarter order intake, and delivery is scheduled for Q2 of 2019. DP World Southampton is the UK port of choice for many global leaders in the container shipping industry. Thanks to its strategic location on the UK's south coast it is an ideal first or last port of call for container ships serving the Northern Europe-Far East trade routes.

Unifeeder Becomes Part of the DP World

DP World Acquires Unifeeder for $762.6 Mln

DP World, one of the world's largest port operators, said on Tuesday it had acquired 100 percent of Unifeeder Group, a Danish logistics company, for 660 million euros ($762.6 million).The acquisition from Nordic Capital Fund VIII and certain minority shareholders will boost DP World's presence in the global supply chain and broaden its product offering to its customers, shipping lines and cargo owners, DP World said.Based in Aarhus, Denmark, Unifeeder operates a container feeder and a shortsea network in Europe, serving both deep-sea container hubs and the intra-Europe container freight market

Suez Canal Authority, DP World Present Sokhna World Zone

DP World to Develop Economic Zone in Egypt's Sokhna

Admiral Mohab Mamish, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority and Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), and Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World, signed a partnership agreement to develop an integrated industrial and residential zone at Sokhna in Egypt, in the presence of Sherif Ismail, the Prime Minister of Egypt. The signing took place at a ceremony in Sharm el-Sheikh at the World Youth Forum. DP World and Dubai Carbon Collaborate

UAE ports operator DP World is to launch a crowdfunding project with Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence to help retrofit warehouses in Dubai’s Mina Rashid port, National reported quoting a statement from Dubai Carbon. The agreement was signed by Nabil Battal, Global HSE Director of DP World and Ivano Iannelli, CEO, Dubai Carbon on October 23rd at the19th edition of Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), which runs on October 23rd at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC). DP World has teamed up with Dubai Carbon to launch the initiative, under which UAE residents will reap returns generated through installing solar energy at four industrial sheds.

DP World Ready for Container Weighing Globally

DP World is prepared for the implementation of the new International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulation which comes into effect on 1 July, 2016. The new regulation mandates that shippers of goods must obtain the Verified Gross Mass (VGM) of laden export containers and communicate it to ocean carriers sufficiently in advance of the ship stowage planning. Ocean carriers and container terminal operators will be legally obliged to ensure that containers without a VGM are not loaded on to a ship in all 162 IMO member states that are required to enforce the new law. DP World’s global terminals will have certified weighing capabilities if this is permitted under the locally adapted implementation of the SOLAS regulation.

Robust Results from DP World

Global marine terminal operator DP World today announced strong financial results from its global portfolio of marine terminals for the twelve months ended 31 December 2014. increased 16.0%, delivering profit attributable to owners of the Company, before separately  disclosed items2 , of $675 million, up 25.1% on a like-for-like basis, and EPS of 81.4 US cents.  Cash from operating activities amounted to $1,486 million up from $1,299 million in 2013. DP World Chairman, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem commented, “DP World is pleased to announce another set of strong financial results, with double digit top line growth translating into like-for-like attributable earnings growth of over 25%.
