Damen Introduces Fully Electric SOV with Offshore Charging

Damen Shipyards Group has officially launched a fully electric service operations vessel (SOV), 70 meters x 17 meters, with its offshore charging capabilities.To achieve offshore charging, Damen has partnered with UK-based MJR Power & Automation – a company that has previously developed an offshore charging system for a crew transfer vessel.The charging system uses the motion-compensated gangway to create a connection between the vessel and a turbine or substation offshore, in much the same way a personnel transfer is undertaken.

SCHOTTEL to Propel Windcat Offshore's Latest Walk-to-Work CSOVs

The first three new Walk-to-Work Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) built by the Dutch Damen Group for Windcat Offshore will be powered by full propulsion packages from SCHOTTEL. With vessel sizes of 87 metres by 20 metres, each CSOV will come with high-comfort accommodation for 120 passengers, and will provide a large warehouse and deck as well as various recreational areas and a hospital. Purus Wind Orders Eight Offshore Wind Vessels from Damen

Purus Wind, an offshore wind vessel services firm, has ordered eight offshore wind vessels from the Dutch shipbuilder Damen.Under the order, Damen Shipyards will build and deliver four Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2710 Hybrid and three Damen FCS 3210 Hybrid Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) and one 90-meter Construction Service Operation Vessel (CSOV). While the FCS 3210s and the CSOV will be equipped for ultra-low emission operations, they have also been designed to be upgraded to methanol-fuelled engines when the time comes.

Thales Launches Vigile DPX

Thales has announced the launch of a new naval Radar Electronic Support Measures (R-ESM) solution for multi-purpose ships that need continued capability in the littoral. Ships sailing close to shore can experience difficulties with radars, due to reflections from the landmass and interference from the greater density of radar traffic. Vigile DPX, the latest member of Thales’s Vigile family of products, addresses this problem through a Wideband Digital Receiver1 that directly samples the full bandwidth of the radar RF spectrum instantaneously. The ability to receive and process time-coincident signals is critical to providing effective situational awareness and threat warning in the modern, complex RF environment.

Samson Receives Type Approval

Samson, a leader in the supply of cordage, has met DNV Type Approval requirements to receive Marine Equipment Directive certification for six of its high tech Commercial Marine products. Certified products are: AmSteel-Blue; Neutron-8; Force 8; DPX-75; EPX-75; and Proton 8.
