Furuno DS60 DSL Selected for 200+ USCG Vessels

Furuno USA, Inc. said it has been awarded a five-year U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) IDIQ contract, valued at approximately $10 million, to supply Doppler Speed Logs (DSL) as part of the USCG’s Doppler Speed Refreshment Project. Furuno’s DS60 DSL will be installed on more than 200 vessels, ranging from 87’ Marine Protector-class patrol boats to the 418’ National Security Cutters, the largest class of vessel in the USCG fleet. Oregon settles with owners of New Carissa

The Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) reached a settlement with the owners of the wood chip carrier NEW CARISSA regarding removal of the wreckage. The owners have agreed to pay $22.1m, which the state will use to pay its legal expenses and to complete the wreck removal. The DSL released a Fact Sheet discussing the settlement process; a Summary providing an overview of the grounding on February 4, 1999 and some subsequent developments related to the wreckage; and a Timeline discussing all major events including attempts to burn the fuel onboard with napalm, the re-grounding of the bow section, and the ultimate sinking of the bow section using a torpedo fired by a US Navy submarine. source: HK Law

A.P. Moeller Strategizes Purchase of DSL's Assets

The transport unit of Danish oil and shipping group A.P. Moeller, Maersk Logistics, said on Thursday it planned to buy certain activities and assets of global logistics company Distribution Services Ltd (DSL). "The deal is not yet closed and the amount would be undisclosed," Maersk Logistics said. DSL, with headquarters in both the U.S. and Hong Kong, has 200 operating offices in 60 countries and 1,500 employees. Maersk Logistics would acquire the activities, assets and related operations of DSL's storage and warehouse operations, ocean transport intermediary activities and consolidation business, it said.
