Simrad Launches New ECDIS

A new, fully IMO certified Integrated Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) navigation system has been announced today, the Simrad CS68 Integrated ECDIS, designed specifically for the commercial market. The Simrad CS68 Integrated ECDIS system offers direct access to key dedicated navigation capabilities. Installation and customization options are virtually endless, depending on the particular configuration of a vessel. Available in two screen sizes, the CS68 19-inch model has a 5:4 aspect ratio for streamlined retrofitting.

Elektronix Launches Marine Approved PCs

During 2010 Electronix AS invested resources regarding development, design and quality assurance of a new range of marine approved PCs. The enix2000 and enix3000 are based on a completely fanless design with Core 2 Duo CPU, and with several years of availability for all components. They feature standalone installation, wall mounting, or in 19-in rack (2U och 3U). They also include Industrial Wide-Temp Flash Disk (for a system with no moving parts), or 2.5-in Industrial 24 / 7 hard drive. Choose Matrox Dual Head Dual Display, or Matrox Quad for 4 x VGA / DVI / HDTV.

Transas VTS System Launched in Taiwan

The long construction works of the port of Ho-Ping (Taiwan) development have been concluded with the successful launch of Transas VTS system there. The project has been implemented by Transas Marine Pacific in cooperation with their Taiwanese agent, Seven Seas Electronic.The new VTS system in Ho-Ping gives significant advantages to the industrial port as it makes it compliant with the VTS IMO/IALA regulations, improves port management system and essentially increases navigational safety in the area. STN Atlas Lands $2.5 Million Norwegian Contract

Bremen-based STN Atlas Elektronik has been awarded a contract worth $2.5 million by the Norwegian National Coastal Administration for design and installation of new VTS facilities at Kvitsoy in the south west coastal region of the country. The facilities, which will be used to monitor and control shipping traffic in and around the Stavanager area, are to be commissioned at the end of next year. Comprised of remotely equipped Atlas X-band radar sites at Duehammar, Hemnes, Røvær, Våganeset and Vigdel, (a sixth radar will be installed at Kvitsøy) the facilities will also house two supplementary VHF communication sites at Bookn and Prestasen…
