M/V Cape Ray: Last Stop for Syrian Chemical Weapons

As I write, the M/V  Cape Ray, a 648-foot roll-on/roll-off Ready Reserve Force ship is steaming under orders towards Gioia Tauro, Italy, to load hundreds of tons of Syrian Government chemical weapon agents and precursor chemicals, before neutralizing them at sea. GasLog Partners Announce Closing of its IPO

GasLog Partners LP, an international owner, operator and manager of LNG carriers, today announced the closing of its initial public offering of 9,660,000 common units representing limited partner interests (the “common units”), including 1,260,000 common units issued upon the exercise in full by the underwriters of their option to purchase additional units. The public offering price was $21.00 per common unit. The net proceeds from the offering, after deducting underwriting discounts and other offering expenses, were approximately $186 million. The proceeds from the offering were used principally to reduce indebtedness and for general partnership purposes, with the remainder distributed to GasLog Ltd. (“GasLog”) (NYSE:GLOG).

Final Sea Trials for "Chemical Weapon Destruction" Ship

The US Military Sealift Command ship 'MV Cape Ray' has left Portsmouth, Va., to conduct final sea trials in preparation for its upcoming mission to destroy Syrian chemical weapons. During the sea trials, the crew and the Field-Deployable Hydrolysis System operators are evaluating the ship and the system at various sea states. The ship is expected to return shortly for final outfitting before deploying to an as-yet undisclosed location in the Mediterranean Sea sometime late this week or early next week, according to Army Col. Steve Warren , a Pentagon spokesman.

Intelsat Commences Proposed IPO

Intelsat S.A. (formerly known as Intelsat Global Holdings S.A.) announced the pricing of its initial public offering of 19,323,672 common shares at a price of $18.00 per share and concurrent public offering of 3,000,000 Series A mandatory convertible junior non-voting preferred shares (the “Series A preferred shares”) at a price of $50.00 per share. On the mandatory conversion date, May 1, 2016, each Series A preferred share, unless previously converted, will automatically convert into common shares. The Series A preferred shares will have a 5.75% dividend rate and a liquidation preference of $50.00 per share. The Company has granted the underwriters in the initial public offering of common shares a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 2,898,550 common shares.

Intelsat Global Holdings S.A. announced that it has commenced the distribution of preliminary prospectuses in anticipation of its proposed initial public offering of 21,739,130 common shares and proposed concurrent public offering of 3,000,000 Series A mandatory convertible junior non-voting preferred shares (the "Series A preferred shares"). US-based Smiths Detection wins contract from U. S. Navy for METMF(R) NEXGEN additional mobile weather information systems. Smiths Detection announce a US$7.6-million contract to supply the U.S. Navy with additional mobile weather information systems to support mission planning and military operations for the Marine Corps. Smiths Detection Names Head of Global Programs

Edgewood, Md. - Smiths Detection today named Sal Cipres as Head of Global Programs, which oversees all Smiths Detection program efforts for transportation, military, ports and borders, emergency response and critical infrastructure markets worldwide. Cipres will lead the development of proposal strategies and the delivery of products and systems to major government customers within cost, schedule and technical performance parameters. Port of Tacoma Awards Largest Contract in its History

The Port of Tacoma has been awarded the largest single capital improvement contract in its history. ICON Materials of Kent, Wash., the low bidder, will manage construction of a new container terminal for Evergreen America Inc. The contract awards ICON $46.2 million to build the terminal and a dedicated intermodal yard. "This is the biggest project in Port history," said Port Commissioner Jack Fabulich. "While this new container terminal will be a foundation for the Port's future, it also provides a much-needed stimulus to the Tacoma-Pierce County economy.
