Seçkin Uz Named Managing Director at elkon

In addition to his present and continuing role as managing director of SCHOTTEL Turkey, Seçkin Uz has been appointed managing director of SCHOTTEL’s sister company elkon.In his new position at elkon, Seçkin Uz will be dedicated to utilizing various synergies between propulsion specialist SCHOTTEL and electrical system integrator elkon. At the same time, he aims to strengthen elkon’s international growth and business development in the global maritime industry.Seçkin Uz succeeds Ertuğ Yaşar, who held this position for nine years.

Post Appointed COO of Radio Holland

Maarten Post has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) and member of the General Management Team of the Radio Holland Group. He is responsible for the management of the global operations of the Radio Holland Group and further building the global service network. Within RH Marine Group over the past years, Post has had several managerial positions, among others Managing Director of Elkon (Turkey) and Imtech Marine Canada. Before that he worked in several senior management positions in Public Transportation and at DHL.

Imtech Marine Becomes RH Marine Group

The new RH Marine Group, formerly known as Imtech Marine was introduced at the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam today. Following the recent acquisition by Parcom Capital and Pon Holdings, Imtech Marine will now be known as RH Marine Group, built on the roots of founding companies Radio Holland and van Rietschoten & Houwens. The two ‘pillars’ for service and newbuild activities within Imtech Marine are also involved in the new naming structure. Global NavCom, Connectivity, On Board ICT service and maintenance brand Radio Holland will keep its name but will have a new logo.

Push Boats: From Turkey to Brazil

The shallow draft market in South America continues to strengthen, powered by orders such as Hidrovias do Brasil S.A. 2013 deal for eight HB Pushboat ASUNCION-PYs, which represents a new generation of powerful Shallow Draft River Push Boat designed specifically for South America inland waterways logistics. Robert Allan Ltd. (RAL) designed and Vienna Model Basin optimized, the total deal for eight push boats is customized for Hidrovias do Brasil S.A., a river iron ore transport subcontractor company for Vale. The boats are designed to meld power with maneuverability in a 69 ton bollard package.

Elkon Wins Hybrid Ferry Contract

Elkon (Istanbul), a subsidiary of Imtech Marine, has been awarded an interesting contract from Sedef Shipyard (Tuzla, Istanbul) for the delivery of the electrical equipment, propulsion system and services for two Canadian Seaspan hybrid ferries. The two, 148.9 m, dual-fuelled (diesel and liquefied natural gas) ferries are propelled by a hybrid-electrical propulsion system and can accommodate up to 59 trailers. These state-of-the-art ferries will replace aging vessels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly, while ensuring the highest level of efficiency, performance and reliability.

Diesel Electric River Push Boats Delivered

RAL designed advanced diesel electric shallow draft river push boat.

On February 21, 2014 UZMAR Shipyard, also known as “Workboat and Tug Factory” of Turkey, announced the delivery of first two most advanced diesel electric shallow draft river push boats to Brazilian Owners, Hidrovias do Brazil S.A. A total of eight ordered push boats will operate in Parana River, South America under a long term iron ore barge transportation contract with VALE. The first two push boats were transported from UZMAR Shipyard, Turkey to Uruguay by semi-submergible heavy cargo vessel in early March 2014.

Imtech Marine to Power Turkish Navy Vessels

Imtech Marine announces that Elkon (Istanbul), member of Imtech Marine , signed a contract for the design and supply of the complete electrical systems to power three Turkish Navy Auxiliary vessels. The vessels, consisting of  one Submarine Rescue Mother Ship (MoShip) and two Rescue and Towing Ships (RATships) will be built by Istanbul Shipyard in Tuzla Turkey and are scheduled to be delivered to the Turkish Navy by mid of 2015. Elkon is contracted by Istanbul Shipyard  to design, supply and commission the complete package of electrical systems.

Turkish Navy Contract for Imtech

The order is for the construction of a submarine rescue mother Ship (MoShip) and two rescue and towing Ships (RATships). All ships will be built by Istanbul Shipyard in Tuzla in Turkey and are scheduled to be delivered to the Turkish Navy by mid of 2015. Imtech's Turkish marine business unit Elkon was selected by Istanbul Shipyard to design, supply and commission the complete package of electrical systems. The supply range involves major components of the power generation, power distribution and propulsion systems, as well as an integrated vessel management system including power management and machinery monitoring & control. Electrical engineering and onboard installations, integrated logistic support and ship's engineering room and bridge consoles are also part of the supply scope.
