DONG, CWind Extend Crew Transfer Vessel Contract

CWind, a provider of services to the offshore wind industry, informs that DONG Energy, one of the key energy groups in Northern Europe, has granted CWind a two-year extension to its existing three-year Crew Transfer Vessel contract at the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea. CWind, the offshore power focused business of Global Marine Group (GMG), will provide vessels for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) to the 108-turbine West of Duddon Sands site, including a summer campaign to ensure the site remains operating at peak performance throughout the busier summer months.

CMA CGM Slashes CO2 Emissions 4% in 2016

CMA CGM Group said it has reduced its CO2 emissions per container transported by 4 percent in 2016. In 2016, the Group has succeeded in reducing its carbon emissions in line with its 2025 targets. The CMA CGM Group intends to reduce its CO2 emissions per transported container by 30 percent by 2025. CMA CGM had already improved its performance per transported container per kilometer by 50 percent between 2005 and 2015. Operational optimization of the fleet thanks to the work of the exports of CMA CGM Fleet Navigation and Support Center. Opportunities for Growth as Chinese Economy Evolves

China invested more than $89 billion in renewable energy projects in 2014 – a growth of 31% on the previous year. Beijing is aiming to generate 200 gigawatts (GW) of electricity from wind and 100 GW of solar by 2020.

The global breakbulk and heavy-lift markets have had to navigate choppy waters in recent years. Not necessarily due to a shortage of freight, but as a consequence of unsustainably low freight rates. The global economic recovery since 2009 has been slow, and competition for the multipurpose sector has intensified due to bulkers, container lines and RoRo’s making forays into the breakbulk and heavylift market, as they look to diversify their business and make up for the lack of demand in their respective core markets.

Harwich Dock & OMM Get Dong Offshore UK Cable Services Contract

The Harwich Dock Company (HDC) and Offshore Marine Management (OMM) have secured a significant long term contract with DONG Energy, one of the leading energy groups in Northern Europe, to provide cable storage and management services at the Harwich Navyard in Essex. The first project of this long-term agreement will see OMM providing cable engineering, commissioning, consultancy and general cables services at Harwich Navyard to support DONG Energy’s wind farm operations and maintenance works. HDC enlisted the expertise of OMM as cable industry specialists when the opportunity arose to provide a cable storage O&M hub for DONG Energy. HDC worked successfully with OMM in 2011, providing local facilities to OMM during the installation of array cables for the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm.
