A joint Lloyd’s Register (LR) and A.P. Moller – Maersk study assessing the transition to zero carbon fuels has found that the cost of transport will rise – not because ships themselves will require greater levels of investment but because new fuels are projected to be significantly more expensive than existing fossil solutions which will lead to increased operating costs.According to the study partners, achieving net zero is therefore an operating expense (OPEX) not a capital expenditure (CAPEX) challenge.

Global IP to introduce Ku-band maritime services to oil, gas and energy customers across the vast Indian Ocean region. Intelsat S.A., a  provider of satellite services, announced today that Spain-based Global IP, a provider of satellite communications for maritime, energy and corporate customers, has signed multi-year agreements allowing it to provide broadband service to its maritime customers in the Indian Ocean region. Global IP will use capacity on Intelsat 22 at 72° East, Intelsat 702 at 33° East, and the IntelsatOneSM terrestrial network to introduce advanced mobility services. Global IP will collocate its DVB-S2 high-throughput platform at Intelsat's teleport in Fuchsstadt, Germany, enabling access to the IntelsatOne infrastructure and Intelsat's satellite fleet.

FKAB secured a contract for the design of a 2,400m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) for the Taiwanese Kaohsiung Harbour Authority which will be built at Taiwan’s Ching Fu Shipyard. FKAB Sweden performed basic drawings, FKAB China office will carry out detail and production design with Nupas-Cadmatic. Even though FKAB has had Nupas-Cadmatic licenses for a couple of years, they were all used in the Dalian office. Now the Shanghai office will use the licenses for the complete design and production engineering of the dredger.
