Malaysian FPSO Giant Yinson Invests in Norwegian Autonomous Vessel Start-up

Aker BP Charters Large PSV from Solstad Offshore

Norwegian oil and gas company Aker BP has chartered Solstad Offshore's large platform supply vessel Normand Arctic.The platform supplier will be used to support Aker BP's activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.According to the shipowner, the contract is expected to start during the fourth quarter of 2022. Standard Drilling Sells Stake in VLCC Gustavia S

Norwegian investment company Standard Drilling said Tuesday it had sold its 33.3% ownership in the VLCC Gustavia S, following the updated company strategy. Standard Drilling, which in 2013 sold off its offshore drilling rigs, only to return as offshore vessel owner in 2016, in January 2020 entered the tanker market by acquiring a 33.3% ownership in the newly built Gustavia S VLCC.Now, the company has sold its stake in the 300 000 TDW ECO Design Crude Oil Tanker built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co and fitted with scrubber technology delivered by Wärtsila. Coatings Giant Hempel Buys Wattyl Australia and New Zealand

Coatings manufacturer Hempel has completed the acquisition of Wattyl Australia and New Zealand, increasing its footprint in Australia and New Zealand.On 18 February 2021, Hempel A/S signed an agreement to acquire leading paint and coatings manufacturer Wattyl Australia and New Zealand from The Sherwin-Williams Company, the world’s largest paint and coatings company and headquartered in the United States.Hempel received formal customary approval from the relevant authorities in Australia and New Zealand and the acquisition was closed on 31 March.

Satellite communications provider Speedcast International said it will begin to offer Intellian’s v240MT antenna to customers in the cruise and offshore energy sectors.The v240MT is Intellian’s next generation, tri-band and multi-orbit 2.4 meter antenna for use on Ku, Ka and C-band satellites. Dong Takes Solstad CSVs

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore has entered into contracts with Dong Energy Wind Power for two of its construction support vessels (CSVs).   The first contract will see the CSV Rem Installer work for Dong Energy for a period of 23 months firm with a further six months option.   A second Solstad vessel will start working for Dong in April 2018 for a seven-month period, with an option for an additional eight months.   “The contract with DONG Energy Power is a strategically important contract for Solstad Offshore in the company’s continued commitment to the renewable energy segments,” the company said in a release.   The commercial terms of the deals have not been disclosed by the two companies.

Mont Hope Selects DNV GL's ShipManager

Mont Hope Ship Management, a new and specialized company focusing on services for vessels engaged in energy segments, is implementing DNV GL’s integrated software system ShipManager on the entire fleet in order to optimize operations and improve performance. Mont Hope Ship Management is a new company, started in May 2015 and based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Concurrent with the start-up, they began the process of selecting a comprehensive fleet management software system to support efficient and safe operations, as well as to improve business performance. The amount of resources needed to gather data from various sources can be challenging and inefficient.

FGH Finalizes $82 Million in New Contracts

Friede Goldman Halter, Inc. (FGH) finalized contracts totaling $82 million. The contracts call for the construction of a $70 million cargo vessel and the design and construction of 22 shipboard cargo cranes. Halter Marine, Inc., the vessel construction division of FGH, will build a $70 million car carrier for Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines. The 579-ft. Pure Truck Car Carrier will transport more than 4,000 automobiles between destinations on the Pacific coast. Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines is a joint venture between The Pasha Group and Van Ommeren Shipping USA, which will operate the vessel. The ship's Jones Act compliance will enable it to operate between U.S. West Coast ports and Hawaii as well as serve foreign ports.
