Rotterdam Port Hails North Sea Agreement

The Port of Rotterdam Authority considers it vital that the North Sea Consultation works towards a North Sea Agreement in the coming six months. This consultation is investigating where on the North Sea the challenges regarding food, energy and nature can be combined and where choices will need to be made.The Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW) is initiator of this consultation. Rotterdam Port Invests in Expansion

The Port of Rotterdam Authority said that its gross investments increased 91% to EUR408.1 million (USD461Mln) in 2018, the highest level since the construction of Maasvlakte 2.By far the largest part of this amount was used to further improve the logistical accessibility of the port of Rotterdam, for example by starting construction of the Container Exchange Route and building the Princess Amalia Viaduct, said a press release from the largest port in Europe, located in the city of Rotterdam…

Rotterdam Port Contributes USD 51.86 billion to Netherlands

USD 51.86 billion (EUR 45.6 billion) or 6.2% of the added value of the Netherlands is due to the Port of Rotterdam. This emerged in ‘The Rotterdam effect - Impact of Mainport Rotterdam on the Dutch economy’ study conducted by Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), commissioned by the Port Authority.Port of Rotterdam pointed out that it contributes twice as much to the gross domestic product than previously calculated. Traditionally, when determining the economic significance of the port, only direct employment and added value were measured, including the so-called backwards indirect effects.

Damen Takes Second in Maritime & Aviation Sector in MT500 Rankings

Damen Shipyards Group has achieved second place in the maritime & aviation sector in this year’s MT500 rankings of the top 500 companies and institutions in the Netherlands. Post Appointed COO of Radio Holland

Maarten Post has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) and member of the General Management Team of the Radio Holland Group. He is responsible for the management of the global operations of the Radio Holland Group and further building the global service network. Within RH Marine Group over the past years, Post has had several managerial positions, among others Managing Director of Elkon (Turkey) and Imtech Marine Canada. Before that he worked in several senior management positions in Public Transportation and at DHL.

Eley to Take over as Polarcus CEO

Duncan Eley has been appointed chief executive officer of Oslo listed offshore geophysical services company Polarcus Limited, replacing Rod Starr, who has resigned following a two year reorganization period. Eley has been promoted to the CEO role from his current position as chief operating officer, succeeding Starr effective immediately. Starr will continue to work with the executive management team and Polarcus' Board of Directors for a transition period during the second quarter of 2017.

The Port of Rotterdam is pioneering a new technology it says will make the port smarter: a water drone. Ever since the 'insane' plan of Pieter Caland to build the Nieuwe Waterweg, new solutions that make the port of Rotterdam smarter, more efficient, better and more sustainable are thought up constantly. One of the latest developments is the water drone. “Innovation flows through Rotterdam, like the water through the Maas,” a poetic entrepreneur once said. That is definitely true. Team Tankers International Ltd has appointed Hans Feringa as new President and CEO. Feringa is the former President of Stolt Tankers, a division of Stolt-Nielsen Limited. He succeeds Jens Grønning, who has left the Company. "Under Jens' leadership, Team Tankers completed a comprehensive financial restructuring and established a solid operational model," said Morten Arntzen, Team Tankers Executive Chairman. Habben Jansen Takes over as Hapag-Lloyd CEO

Hapag-Lloyd announced changes in its Executive Board resulting from departure of Michael Behrendt and Ulrich Kranich; Anthony J. Rolf Habben Jansen, who has been a member of the Hapag-Lloyd AG's Executive Board since April 1, has assumed the position of CEO effective July 1. He succeeds Michael Behrendt, who left the Hapag-Lloyd AG's Executive Board as scheduled on June 30, as did COO Ulrich Kranich. The new COO is Anthony J. Firmin who joined the Executive Board today after 19 years at the company. Peter Ganz continues as CFO, a position he has held since April 2009.

Paul van Maanen (48) has joined Van der Velden® Marine Systems as Executive Vice President. He brings with him years of experience as a Managing Director in the shipbuilding  and aircraft industries. Van Maanen will join the Corporate Executive Board and be co-responsible for the overall operation and management of the entire Van der Velden group of companies. Anagnostopoulos Appointed to Seanergy Board

Seanergy Maritime Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: SHIP; SHIP.W) announced that Dimitris Anagnostopoulos has been appointed as member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee. Anagnostopoulos fills the vacant position of Lambros Papakostantinou following his resignation in March 2009. Anagnostopoulos has over forty years of experience in ship finance. His career began in the 1970s at Athens University of Economics followed by four years with the Onassis Group in Monte Carlo. Anagnostopoulos also held various posts at Continental Illinois National Bank of Chicago, Greyhound Corporation, and with ABN AMRO, where he has spent nearly two decades with the company, holding positions of senior vice-president and head of shipping.

Stolt-Nielsen announced that Hans Feringa has been appointed President of Stolt Tankers & Terminals as of December 1, 2007. Hans Feringa will succeed Otto Fritzner, who will be retiring, as planned, from the Company at the end of the year. Hans Feringa has been Managing Director of Tanker Trading at Stolt Parcel Tankers Division since 2003. Prior to this he was Managing Director of Stolthaven Terminals Division (2000 to 2003) and Asia Pacific Regional Director, Stolthaven Terminals Division (1996 to 2000). Before joining Stolt-Nielsen S.A. in 1996, he was Commercial Director of Van Ommeren's Tank Terminal at Botlek, Rotterdam. He gained an MBA in 1987 from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University prior to joining Van Ommeren.
