Radio Holland, Lars Thrane Team

Radio Holland Group and Lars Thrane A/S concluded a global distribution agreement for the LT-3100 Iridium system. As a ‘kick-off’, mid-March Peter Thrane (CEO & Co-founder) and Thomas Flinth (Sales Manager) visited the Rotterdam office of Radio Holland Netherlands for a sales presentation, a commercial and a technical training. The global agreement enables every Radio Holland office in the world to distribute the LT-3100 Iridium system as well as perform after-sales service and maintenance. Peter Thrane said, “The distribution agreement with the Radio Holland Group is a major step forward for us. The global presence and professional approach to the market has given Radio Holland a strong name in the marine business. The LT-3100 is based on the Iridium satellite network.

Class Clash: DNV, GL to Merge

“The merger rests on a strong strategic rationale, and responds to challenges of increased globalisation, rapid technological change and the need for sustainable development,” said DNV’s Group CEO, Henrik O. Madsen, who will be the CEO of the combined new company, DNV GL Group.

The ever changing face of ship classification has received perhaps its biggest makeover yet, with the announcement this morning (December 20, 2012) that Norway’s Det Norke Veritas (DNV) and Germany’s Germanischer Lloyd (GL) have signed a deal to merge. While the deal is termed a merger, considering that the DNV Foundation will hold 63.5 %, and GL’s owner Mayfair SE will hold 36.5%, and the fact that the new company, to be called DNV GL Group with a combined turnover of approximately $3.3 billion…

GL Asked to Comply with Iran Sanctions

UANI points out that GL’s Iran business violates EU sanctions banning both transactions with IRISL and the provision of ancillary services, including certification services that facilitate Iran's global oil trade. According to data gathered by UANI, GL currently provides certification to several IRISL vessels, as well as to at least eight vessels of the regime’s primary oil shipper, NITC. In a June 12 letter to GL Chairman of the Executive Board Erik van der Noordaa, UANI CEO, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, explained how GL’s activities are in clear violation of EU sanctions imposed against IRISL and Iran's oil trade, and also could run afoul of U.S. law, given GL’s extensive contract work with the U.S.

Anglo Dutch Award for Damen Shipyard

On Tuesday, November 25, Damen Shipyards Gorinchem was awarded the Heineken Trophy, an initiative by the Netherlands British Chamber of Commerce. The Trophy was presented to Erik van der Noordaa, COO of the Damen Shipyards Group, by Jean-François van Boxmeer, Chairman and CEO of Heineken.
