M/V Ever Deluxe Assists In Rescue Of F/V LUCKY I

captained by Captain Wen-Yau Hwang, assisted the U.S. rescue of the fishing vessel LUCKY I. coast of San Francisco, CA without engine power for a week. took place September 25. and made attempts to repair the engine and generator with no success. assistance. relinquishing the tow to USCGC TERN, an 87-foot patrol boat. Evergreen America Corp. Returns to JC

Evergreen America Corporation, agents for global ocean carrier Evergreen, has moved U. S. headquarters to Jersey City, NJ , from Morristown, NJ, effective November 17. The move returns more than 200 jobs to Jersey City. The new address is 1 Evertrust Plaza, Jersey City, NJ 07302. For ten years, Evergreen America maintained its head offices at the Evertrust Building, which is owned by an Evergreen Group division, before moving to Morristown four years ago.

Port Awards Environmental Excellence Award

The Port of Los Angeles, along with the California Air Resources Board and the South Coast Air Quality Management District, presented today its first-ever Environmental Excellence Award to Evergreen America Corporation. The award recognizes the environmental stewardship of Port of Los Angeles customers. Port Chief Operating Officer Bruce Seaton presented the Environmental Excellence Award to Captain Hwang and Jason Hsu of Evergreen America. Evergreen has shown their commitment to reducing air emissions with several programs including being the most compliant company with the Port’s Vessel Reduction Program; being the first terminal operator in the U.S.

Work Resumes after Evergreen and ILA Negotiations

ILA and Evergreen End Disputes with MOA

The International Longshoremen's Association, AFL-CIO (ILA) and Evergreen America Corporation (EGA) ended a month long dispute with a memorandum of agreement signed this morning. The agreement contains essential terms demanded by the union on behalf of the Port Captains and Engineer whom it represents, pursuant to an NLRB certification. The striking Port Captains will promptly be returned to their jobs and to the work that they regularly performed will not be reduced, a charge that the ILA alleges had occurred. As a result of entering into this Memorandum of Agreement, the International is discontinuing its picketing of the employer's operation.
