Exmar Orders Ammonia-Powered Midsize Gas Carriers

Exmar LPG has ordered two ammonia-powered Midsize Gas Carriers (MGCs) from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea.According to the company, a joint venture between EXMAR and Seapeak, the ships will be the first-ever oceangoing vessels to be propelled by dual-fuel ammonia engines, allowing for close to zero emissions trading when using ammonia. Wärtsilä’s Cargo Handling and LPG Fuel Supply Systems for Exmar Gas Carriers

Wärtsilä will deliver its cargo handling and LPG fuel supply systems for two LPG/Midsize gas carrier vessels being built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea for EXMAR LPG.EXMAR LPG is a joint venture between EXMAR, a maritime and offshore solutions provider and Seapeak. Emissions Scrubber Tech for Exmar LPG Carriers

Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction, Korea, is building a pair of new LPG carriers for Exmar, which  is a Belgian energy logistics company with an existing LPG fleet of around 30 vessels. The two new 38,000-cu. m. LPG carriers will be built at Hanjin’s Subic Shipyard in the Philippines and delivered to EXMAR in Q1 and Q2 of 2016. The pair is significant in that they will feature innovative emissions scrubbing technology from Alfa Laval, in response to global demand to significantly reduce emissions from ships.

Teekay LNG Acquires Interests in Four LNG Newbuildings

Teekay LNG Partners L.P. announced that it has acquired from BG Group ownership interests in four 174,000 cubic meter Tri-Fuel Diesel Electric (TFDE) liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier newbuildings, which will be constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. in China. The vessels, which are scheduled to deliver between September 2017 and January 2019, will each operate under 20-year time-charter contracts, plus extension options, with Methane Services Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BG.

EXMAR LPG Sells Two Older LPG Ships

EXMAR LPG (the Joint Venture between EXMAR and TEEKAY LNG PARTNERS) sold the Very Large Gas Carrier FLANDERS TENACITY (84,270 m³ – 1996 built) and the Midsize Gas Carrier EEKLO (37,450 m³ – 1995 built). Both vessels are expected to be delivered to their new owners in June 2014. The capital gain realized by EXMAR for its 50% share in EXMAR LPG will be approximately $18 million. This transaction will generate for EXMAR LPG net cash proceeds of around $44 million. The disposal of older tonnage is in line with the company’s strategy to continuously serve its first class customers with a quality modern competitive fleet. EXMAR Sell Two Gas Carriers In Fleet Renewal Program

EXMAR LPG (the Joint Venture between EXMAR and Teekay LNG PARTNERS) announce sale of the Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) FLANDERS HARMONY (85,826 m3 - 1993 built) and the Midsize Gas Carrier TEMSE (35,754 m3 - 1994 built). TEMSE is expected to be delivered to its new owners by the end of the first quarter 2014 and FLANDERS HARMONY in the course of the second quarter 2014. The capital gain realized by EXMAR for its 50% share in EXMAR LPG will be approximately USD 10.4 million. This transaction will generate for EXMAR LPG net cash proceeds of around USD 30.0-million.

EXMAR Commits to LPG with New Charters

EXMAR LPG has been awarded Statoil ASA’s time charter requirement for two environment-friendly 38,000 m³ (Midsize) LPG newbuildings intended for LPG trading within North West Europe. Both performing vessels are part of EXMAR LPG’s existing orderbook and are being built at Hanjin Subic Bay. Pacific Rubiales and Gazprom Sign on EXMAR FLNG Project

EXMAR announced two keystone events in its Caribbean FLNG project. On November 5, Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp. (PRE) and Gazprom Marketing & Trade Ltd. (GM&T) announced the execution of a heads of agreement with respect to a five year sale and purchase agreement covering approximately 500,000 tons per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG) FOB Colombia (Caribbean Sea) commencing commercial operations in the second quarter of 2015. This LNG cargo will be produced in, and loaded from, EXMAR’s Caribbean FLNG barge. Last week, Wison Offshore & Marine Ltd.

Latest Global Shipbuilding Orders

Although somewhat quieter this week with a number of the yards in the Far East approaching their summer vacations, Clarkson Hellas Weekly S+P Bulletin reports continued activity in the newbuilding market with orders coming to light in the dry, container and gas sectors. Starting with the larger sizes, this week Clarkson Hellas has seen further orders being placed for VLOCs at Guangzhou Longxue. Following a similar order from Berge Bulk in May this year, Henghou Industries are reported this week to have placed an order for two firm 250,000 DWT VLOCs at the GSI controlled Longxue. Pricing is understood to be in the region USD 59 Mill with delivery of the first vessel in 2015 and second in 2016.

Exmar NV and Teekay LNG Partners Complete Joint-Venture

Exmar NV (NYSE Euronext: EXM) is pleased to announce that together with  Teekay LNG Partners L.P. (NYSE: TGP) they have successfully closed their 50/50 LPG joint-venture. The Exmar LPG BVBA joint-venture controls 15 owned Midsize Gas Carriers (MGC), out of which 4 are currently under construction at Hyundai Mipo, and one owned Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC). Exmar LPG BVBA also time-charters in three MGCs and two VLGCs (33.33% share) and bareboat-charters in one MGC and one VLGC. The joint venture has successfully secured financing  for its fleet (including the 4 newbuildings at Hyundai Mipo) under a USD 355 million facility, co-arranged by Nordea and DNB. The syndicated loan facility has been substantially oversubscribed and is expected to close before the end of the first quarter 2013.

Gas Tankship Equipment Contract for Wärtsilä Hamworthy

Wärtsilä Hamworthy contracted by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard for cargo handling equipment & engineering for four Exmar Shipping SA gas carriers. Wärtsilä Hamworthy’s scope of supply will include cargo related engineering including deck tank engineering, reliquefaction plant, Wärtsilä Moss inert gas generator, Wärtsilä Svanehøj cargo pumps, cargo heater and vaporiser, cargo control system, supervision and commissioning. All equipment and engineering services will be delivered in 2013. Each of the 38,000 m³ capacity vessels will be delivered from the first quarter of 2014 onwards.
