Brazil Ship Collision Reveals Offshore Regulatory Gaps

Brazil has more than doubled the number of risky ship-to-ship oil transfers this year, but its monitoring of such offshore maneuvers is lax, to a point where a July 2017 collision between two tankers was not reported, according to a Reuters review of government and shipping records.Transfers are projected to keep rising as the country's deep-water discoveries have lured major companies including Exxon Mobil Corp and Royal Dutch Shell Plc to recent offshore auctions. During these maneuvers, ships pull alongside one another and oil is transferred to a vessel via high-pressure hoses.

Salalah Port Expanding Services for 2018

The Port of Salalah completed its first ship to ship transfer operation (STST) at Salalah anchorage recently as part of the port’s expanding service offering in 2018. . The new service was performed by Fendercare Marine which transferred vegetable oil between the vessels NCC Nasma to Ariana while both were in the harbor anchorage. Port of Salalah CEO Andrew Dawes said “Our vision is to make our customer’s supply chains work better, more efficiently and safer. Our new offering of ship to ship transfer of bulk liquids is designed to serve the regional market and Africa’s economic demand. Fendercare to Equip New UK Navy OPVs

Fendercare Marine has signed a contract with BAE Systems Naval Ships for the provision of rudder blades, rudder stocks, sleeves/liners for rudder stock, anchors, chain and deck equipment for three new Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) for the U.K. Royal Navy. Production of the new OPVs commenced in October 2014 at BAE Systems’ facility in Govan, Glasgow. The 90-meter OPV is based on a BAE Systems design already in service with the Brazilian Navy and Royal Thai Navy. Engineers at BAE Systems have modified the design, ensuring it meets the requirements of the Royal Navy. Fendercare said it was chosen for this contract based on its past experience working with BAE Systems and track record of working on the Amazonas class vessels.

James Fisher Opens Offshore Vessel for Tours

James Fisher Marine Services Ltd (JFMS), and Fendercare Marine, both subsidiaries of James Fisher and Sons plc (JFS), held an open day to demonstrate the capability of their shoreside support base and the offshore support vessel, the Dart Fisher. The Dart Fisher, which was berthed in the Fendercare Marine base in Great Yarmouth, is a 26-meter catamaran specifically designed to service the offshore energy industry with the capability to transfer up to 12 engineers, three 20-foot containers with a total combined cargo weight of 30 metric tons.

Fendercare Opens Expanded Great Yarmouth Base

On Friday, June 20, Fendercare Marine opened the doors of its Great Yarmouth base to showcase its expansion of lifting products and services over the last two years. The Fendercare Marine Equipment and Lifting Services Open Day was attended by an array of existing and new customers, as well as members of the local Great Yarmouth community. Guests could views displays of marine equipment products, lifting equipment, rope splicing demonstrations, working at height equipment and load monitoring.

Fendercare Secures Major Fendering Contract

Norfolk based Fendercare Marine, a supplier of marine products and services, has won a contract to supply Yokohama fenders to the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The three year contract is for the supply of 3.3m x 6.5m Yokohama original pneumatic fenders. Fendercare Marine has supplied 18 of the fenders to date, with potentially more to follow. Fendercare Marine has been working closely with the MOD to design a protective tyre net which would not only be non-marking to the ship’s hull but would provide minimal fender maintenance issues.

Fendercare Opens Office in Sharjah

Fendercare Marine Middle East celebrate the official opening of their new regional Head Office in Sharjah with an official event to celebrate at The Address, Dubai Mall before the invited guests – including customers, local dignitaries and staff from the Fendercare Marine global locations - were transported to the new base. After the official opening ceremony, conducted by Fendercare Marine Managing Director Eric Plane, the attendees were given a tour of the premises including the extensive new warehouse facilities.

Fendercare Provides STS Support Services

Fendercare Marine provided STS support services for the first open sea’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) STS operations for two of the world’s leading Gas Majors. The LNG STS operations were performed in the Eastern Mediterranean with a number of 152,000 cm3 membrane tank Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGC), and most recently a 135,000 cm3 moss type carrier; all delivering cargo to one of Excelerate Energy’s 138,000 cm3 Floating Storage & Regasification Unit (FSRU). Fendercare Wins Eastport U.K. Fendering Contract

Norfolk-based Fendercare Marine, a supplier of marine products and services, has secured a contract to supply Yokohama fenders to Eastport U.K. Norfolk port. The contract, won against international competition, is for the supply of 17 Yokohama pneumatic fenders measuring 2 x 3.5 m to be used at the Great Yarmouth port. Fendercare Marine is currently celebrating 25 years of trading, having built their reputation as a supplier of quality marine products – in particular Yokohama fenders.

CWind to Expand Presence in Operations & Maintenance Phase

The company, which has supported the construction of close to 20 offshore wind farms over the last four years, has announced the appointment of Tim Smith as Sales Manager. Fendercare's New Offshore Pipe-Laying Solution

Fendercare Marine launch a new range of piggyback saddles to assist pipeline installation in the offshore industry. Piggyback saddles - alongside clamps and spacers - can act as a shaped interface between a pipeline and a cylindrical buoyancy tank, to ensure the tank rides comfortably and safely on top of the pipeline during the laying operation. They can also act as separators during parallel lay installations and are most frequently used when smaller secondary umbilicals or pipelines need to run along the top of the main pipeline in piggyback formation.

Fendercare Assist in Wave Energy Converter Installation

Finnish renewable technology developer, Wello Ltd., install Orkney (UK) wave energy converter partnered by Fendercare Marine. Wello Penguin is a unique and patented construction to harvest ocean energy. It is based on industry standard components, including a generator typically used by wind turbines, to allow scalable manufacturing by virtually any shipyard using existing manufacturing processes. Fendercare Marine part of James Fisher and Sons plc were chosen by Wello to provide a range of services as part of the installation, of the 'Penguin' wave energy converter. The Penguin wave energy converter is now floating and connected to a mooring system in the Billia Croo test site.

Fendercare's Rowlands Cares for Olympic Torch

On Wednesday July 4, Paul Rowlands, Marketing Executive for Fendercare Marine was given the honor of being an official Olympic Torchbearer and carrying the flame through Fakenham, Norfolk. Paul was nominated to carry the torch in recognition of his fundraising efforts, following the death of his daughter, Alice at just 15 days old in 2007. Alice was born six weeks early and with a rare liver condition, neonatal hemochromatosis, at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in September 2007. After just five days she was moved to King’s College Hospital in London where she died.

On Thursday 19 July 2012, Norfolk-based Fendercare Marine will be hosting a launch event to officially open its Great Yarmouth offshore wind turbine support base. The company’s new facility on the Old Bure Marine site in Cobholm follows on from the success of its first base in Lyness, Orkney and will provide an extensive range of support services & equipment to the expanding offshore wind industry. The Great Yarmouth site, which cost in excess of £1million, includes a large set down and storage area as well as quay side frontage and office facilities.

Fendercare in STS Operation off Belfast

Fendercare Marine provide first ship to ship transfer operation off Ireland. Norfolk based Fendercare Marine completed the first ship to ship (STS) transfer off the coast of Belfast last week. The operation was unusually requested by the owners of Genmar Companion following a discovery of a crack in the deck of the vessel en route from Rotterdam to New York. The Genmar Companion had sheltered off Copeland Islands since 16 December having been refused entry into Cork to conduct the repairs necessary to the deck.
