Flurry of Charters for DOF Subsea

Offshore vessel operator DOF Subsea has said it has secured several new contracts in the North Sea, Mediterranean, and Africa, however, without sharing the clients' identity.DOF Subsea said Friday that contracted work included a number of turnkey subsea projects within its core service lines - Survey, Inspection, Maintenance & Repair (IMR) and Construction.The vessels Skandi Acergy, Skandi Skansen, Skandi Neptune, and Skandi Seven will be used to deliver work totaling more than 180 vessel days excluding any options.All works under the new contracts are expected to be carried out between the fourth quarter of 2020 and the second quarter of 2021."All awards include Project Managementā€¦

Pipeline Breaks, Spills Crude Oil Into LA Neighborhood

A faulty Valve Pump station at a Petroleum Pipeline Ruptured Early on Thursday in an Industrial corner of Los Angeles, spewing Crude Oil 40 Feet (12 meters) into the Air, onto the Roof of a strip club next door, and leaving four people sick from the fumes. An Estimated 10,000 gallons of Oil gushed from the Pipeline before it was shut down and the spill was halted, soaking an Area about a half-Block Long, Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Jaime Moore Said. The Company that runs the Pipeline, Plains All American Pipeline LP, a Unit of Plains Pipeline LP, put the Volume of the spill at "less than 450 barrels (18,900 gallons)" based on Current field Inspections.

BV Strengthens Vehicle Inspections in U.S.

Bureau Veritas has just completed the acquisition of Quiktrak Inc., an American company specializing in vehicle and agricultural machinery stock audit. Founded in 1991 and headquartered near Portland, Oregon, Quiktrak provides field inspections and inventory auditing services for leasing and finance companies. The company has leading-edge technology, including some of the most advanced risk management tools in the industry, particularly its RevoquestTM software for automating the audit and inventory management process. Quiktrak operates primarily in the United States and Canada, and currently distributes its software licenses in 14 countries. The company employs 90 people and has a vast network of independent inspectors giving the company a strong footprint across the United States.

Lubricant Technology Proven Tough Under Fire

When Texaco, now represented in the marine lubricants market by FAMM (Fuel and Marine Marketing), launched Taro 40 XL 40, the lubricant was designed to address pressing field problems in medium speed engines. Three years later FAMM is in a position to evaluate the performance in a large number of engines and to compare the field results with competitive lubricants. The pressing problems arose from a series of engine design and fuel processing changes. Although aimed at improving engine efficiency and making savings, the changes resulted in a series of difficulties. The best known are engine blackening, undercrown deposits, piston head corrosion, fouling of purifier heaters, increased oil consumption, base number depletion, oil scraper ring clogging and increased piston deposits.

Trinity Files Form 8-K Update to Barge Litigation

In an update to previously disclosed litigation in their inland barge business group, Trinity filed a Form 8-K noting that another lawsuit had been filed involving barges valued at approximately $14 million. The following is an update to the issues raised in a previously reported lawsuit filed against the Company and a coating manufacturer by Florida Marine Transporters, Inc., a tank barge customer, seeking recovery of damages related to corrosion problems with eighteen barges purchased from the Company's subsidiary, Trinity Marine Products, Inc.
